LATARNO (C Whiteley) began awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with PUFF’S GIRL.

LATARNO and JACARANDA SPIRIT both raced greenly for the majority of the event.

CHILLS raced greenly in the home straight.

Race 2: Holmsey & Flan Maiden 3YO and Up H’cap – 900m
1st – Luskin Sky 2nd – Brigadoon Legend 3rd – Shadowy Past 4th – Dr Benjamin

The start was delayed when ACKERIE (E Kehoe) which kicked out in the barriers was removed from the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

LITTLE ORPO (C Schmidt) which was fractious in the barriers was slow to begin.

LUSKIN SKY (A Pattillo) shifted out at the start taking SHADOWY PAST (K Wharton) out on to ACKERIE.

HARKAWAY GIRL (B Appo) was tightened on jumping away between HERTZ SO GOOD (R Hurdle) and ETERNO (R Jamieson) which shifted in.

ACKERIE raced greenly in the early stages of the event and near the 600m improved on to the heels of HERTZ SO GOOD and when being restrained from the heels of HERTZ SO GOOD shifted out and bumped GOLD DEAL (D Missen) which was taken out on to MADEMOISELLE JOLIE (C Whiteley).

BELLA’S CANDY (A Erhart), GOLD DEAL and MADEMOISELLE JOLIE raced wide for the majority of the event.

Approaching the 400m ACKERIE had to be steadied and forced to race in restricted room between GOLD DEAL and LITTLE ORPO which shifted out. App. C Schmidt the rider of LITTLE ORPO was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. App. C Schmidt reported that LITTLE ORPO was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

HERTZ SO GOOD hung out rounding the home turn.

BELLA’S CANDY shifted in under pressure over the final 200m.

When questioned as to the performance of GOLD DEAL, Jockey D Missen stated that the gelding which was having its first start, raced greenly in the early stages and near the 600m was forced wider on the track when ACKERIE raced greenly and shifted out. Jockey Missen added that after making the home turn extremely wide he elected to allow GOLD DEAL to balance up before placing the gelding under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Missen further added that GOLD DEAL again raced greenly in the home straight preventing him from fully testing the gelding but nonetheless finished the race off well. His explanation was noted.

Race 3: Leaders Diary Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Klubbitt 2nd – Angry Apples 3rd – Jundah Jack 4th – Finger Onthe Pulse

The start was delayed when MISS MCLEAN (B Hodder) proved difficult to load.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed an incident near the 50m at which point PEOPLE GET READY (D Missen) suffered interference. After viewing the patrol footage Stewards did not believe that the incident had a material effect on the placings and subsequently declared correct weight.

App. J K Johnson (FINGER ON THE PULSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift out under pressure near the 50m whilst riding the gelding along resulting in RICCOSO (M Palmer) being taken out onto PEOPLE GET READY (D Missen) which had to be eased when tightened for room between RICCOSO and JUNDAH JACK. App. Johnson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 12/01/2013 and to expire midnight 25/01/2013.

Upon return to scale App. R Jamieson reported that JUNDAH JACK raced greenly.

When questioned into the seemingly improved performance of KLUBBITT, Trainer L Kelly stated that following the horse’s last start on 22 December 2012, he had added winkers and a tongue control bit and was of the view that these gear changes had improved the gelding’s performance. Mr Kelly added that whilst connections had supported KLUBBITT today, they were not overly confident of its chances leading into the race based on the gelding’s last start. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 4: The Courthouse Hotel Class 2 H’cap – 2200m

As a consequence CHIPP’N AWAY was obliged to shift back to the inside of ROCKDALE near the 200m to obtain clear running.

App. J. Johnson reported that she attempted to restrain TRISKELE in the early stages to take up a trailing position in behind AQUATORIAL but was unable to do so when TRISKELE began to race strongly. As a consequence TRISKELE was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race before being able to take up a position outside the leader near the 500m.

Race 6: Hot Tomato Cup Class 2 H’cap – 1200m

Correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer B Guy to view the start to ascertain whether or not MACKENZIE (JK Johnson) had been denied a fair start. After viewing the patrol footage Mr Guy was satisfied that MACKENZIE threw its head in the air on jumping and as a result lost ground. As MACKENZIE had not been denied a fair start the mare was declared a runner and correct weight was declared.

POPSTAR PETE (B Hodder) was tightened for room at the start between TORERO (L Rolls) and OUR TRIPLE TREAT (A Pattillo) both of which shifted ground.

When over-racing leaving the 900m INTADOM (E Kehoe) improved on to the heels of BARRASSIE BROTHER (C Whiteley) and when being restrained shifted out.

MACKENZIE over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

WHISKY HIGHWAY (M Palmer) shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

Stewards questioned App. R Jamieson as to the reasons why ALL OUR WIVES shifted out rounding the home turn allowing BARRASSIE BROTHER to improve and to obtain a run to the inside of ALL OUR WIVES. App. Jamieson stated that ALL OUR WIVES had hung out at previous starts and again today hung out rounding the home turn despite her efforts. Stewards whilst mindful of App. Jamieson’s inexperience noted her explanation however advised that in future she should make every effort to keep her mounts straight so as not to allow other runners to improve to her inside as she had on this occasion.

RETUNE (D Green) which was following was inconvenienced as a consequence. App. R Jamieson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 12/01/2013 and to expire midnight 25/01/2013.

Near the 1100m CHANCERY CODE shifted out and bumped COUNTRY PRINCE.

CLASPED (C Schmidt) and COUNTRY PRINCE raced wide for the majority of the event.

Leaving the 900m TAPAKEG (K Wharton) had to be eased and forced to race in restricted room between RETUNE and CLASPED which shifted in momentarily.

RETUNE shifted in under pressure in the home straight resulting in KID TYCOON being inconvenienced near the 200m.

Stewards questioned App. A Taylor as to the reasons why CHANCERY CODE shifted wide rounding the home turn allowing JAM FANCY (D Missen) to improve and obtain a run to its inside. App. Taylor stated that CHANCERY CODE hung out at that point of the race despite her efforts. She also stated that whilst attempting to prevent CHANCERY CODE from shifting out the saddle slipped. Stewards whilst mindful of App. Taylor’s inexperience noted her explanation however advised that in future she should make every effort to keep her mounts straight so as not to allow other runners to improve to her inside as she had on this occasion.

A post-race veterinary examination of CLASPED failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

DAZZLE US and VILAYET were held up rounding the home turn.

Leaving the 200m INDECISION had to be eased when tightened for room between SOLIDIFY (C Whiteley) and VILAYET both of which shifted ground.
