SUPPLEMENTARY:

App. C Van Der Werf was unable to claim her full allowance in Race 5 (FALONLEAH) and Race 6 (CLEVER FORTUNE). Rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary. App. Van Der Werf was subsequently reprimanded.

After the running of Race 4, Jockey B El-Issa was stood down by the club doctor. Rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.



Race 1: Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers 2yo Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Jetasan 2nd – Frilly Curtain 3rd – Quelle Liaison 4th – Jetintoit

GOLUANA (D Missen) was a late withdrawal at 10.53 am acting on veterinary advice. Trainer P Balzen was advised that he must obtain a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness before the gelding’s next race start.

The start was delayed when LAKOTA SIOUX (T Treichel) proved difficult to load. Trainer B Wakefield was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

GEE STING (J Morris), JETINTOIT (C Whiteley), ASTRADAS (J Orman) and STATELY ELEMENT (N Masuda) were slow into stride.

HI I’M BACK (P Holmes) began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

GRAPPA BRANDY (M Hellyer) was tightened on jumping away between LAKOTA SIOUX and GIVE ME TIME (M Carson) both of which shifted out and as a consequence lost ground.

Approaching the 700m HI I’M BACK shifted in and bumped FRILLY CURTAIN (T Wolfgram).

ASTRADAS hung out rounding the home turn.

JETINTOIT raced greenly in the home straight.

Jockey T Treichel reported that LAKOTA SIOUX hung out for the majority of the race and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Trainer B Wakefield indicated that LAKOTA SIOUX will be sent for a spell following today’s performance. Nonetheless Mr Wakefield was advised that LAKOTA SIOUX must compete in an official trial before racing again.

Race 2: Lloyds Super Sunday Auctions C, G & E Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Got to Dash 2nd – Pudmardels 3rd – Floral Nomad 4th – Daytime Hero

MOUNT PERRY (T Treichel) and FLORAL NOMAD (P Schmidt) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start SHOGUN PRINCE (J Orman) was steadied and lost ground when tightened for room between GOT TO DASH (N Masuda) which was taken out by DAYTIME HERO (P Holmes) and PUDMARDELS (M McGuren) which was taken in by DESIDERATA (T Wolfgram).

App. J Orman reported that SHOGUN PRINCE, which raced wide throughout, was inclined to lay in and as a consequence proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Trainer J Holcombe was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

Race 3: Lloyds Valuation Services F & M Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Sybil Action 2nd – Miss Bella Rosa 3rd – Spirit Rock 4th – La Dingaling

CARACAS (P Holmes) was slow to begin.

SPIRIT ROCK (B El-Issa) shifted out at the start and bumped CEBILE (J Orman).

Near the 900m BRAIN TEASER (D Missen) had to be steadied and lost ground when tightened for room by LA DINGALING (M Vance). Jockey M Vance (DINGALING) was reprimanded for failing to provide sufficient racing room for BRAIN TEASER.

SNOWFINK (M Carson) raced wide throughout the event.

CEBILE raced greenly in the home straight.

Near the 100m SPIRIT ROCK shifted out and inconvenienced MISS BELLA ROSA (T Treichel).

When questioned as to the performance of BRAIN TEASER, Jockey D Missen stated that his instructions were to lead today. He added that after beginning well BRAIN TEASER raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event and as a result was unable to maintain its leading position. Jockey Missen then noted that BRAIN TEASER suffered interference near the 900m which resulted in the filly racing much further back than anticipated. He also stated that BRAIN TEASER continued to race ungenerously for the majority of the race. His explanation was noted.

When questioned as to the improved performance of SYBIL ACTION (C Schmidt), Trainer S Lee stated that this was the filly’s first start for his stable. Mr Lee was of the view that SYBIL ACTION had appreciated a short let-up along with a drop back in distance.

A post-race veterinary examination of LADY JEZADANE (T Wolfgram) revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which LADY JEZADANE had bled, the mare will now incur a lifetime ban from racing.

Race 4: Lloyds online Class 1 Plate – 1800m
1st – Blue Wolf 2nd – Viv’s Vegas 3rd – Earn McCracken 4th – Drum Line

BLESS THIS ROSE (M Vance) and SHAH SAN GABRIEL (P Schmidt) were slow to begin.

EM ONE (L Rolls) began awkwardly.

Near the 1500m BLESS THIS ROSE had to be steadied when tightened for room between CUSTER’S REWARD (M Hellyer) and EM ONE which shifted in.

HENDY (C Van Der Werf) and BLESS THIS ROSE raced wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 1200m BLESS THIS ROSE, when over-racing, improved onto the heels of EM ONE, shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards.

Leaving the 500m EM ONE was obliged to race in restricted room between VIV’S VEGAS (B El-Issa) and HIP TO BE SQUARE (N Evans) and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of BLESS THIS ROSE resulting in BLESS THIS ROSE shifting in. A short distance later VIV’S VEGAS shifted out marginally causing EM ONE to be steadied and lose ground. Both Jockeys B El-Issa (VIV’S VEGAS) and N Evans (HIP TO BE SQUARE) were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

When questioned as to his riding of VIV’S VEGAS rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, Jockey B El-Issa stated that he had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn when positioned to the inside of EM ONE. Jockey El-Issa added that in the early stages of the home straight VIV’S VEGAS was inclined to shift ground and as a result he was unable to fully pressure the filly at that point. His explanation was noted.

Race 5: Lloyds Plant & Machinery Auction Class 4 H’cap – 1100m
1st – Vienne 2nd – Young Fun 3rd – Turiff 4th – Flinders Sea

YOUNG FUN (T Wolfgram) was slow to begin.

BELGRANDO (J Orman) raced wide during the early stages of the event.

FALONLEAH (B Ainsworth) raced wide throughout the event.

Jockey J Morris (TURIFF) reported that his saddle shifted back shortly after the start.

Race 6: Lloyds Commercial Catering F & M Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Total Response 2nd – Miamley 3rd – Miss Gibraltar 4th – Wine by the Glass

Connections advised Stewards that GRANDKIDS ROCK (J Morris) would be ridden with cover towards the rear of the field today if possible. Ridden accordingly.

ALMASEA (S Fawke) and GRANDKIDS ROCK (J Morris) were slow to begin.

BROWN WATER (M Hellyer) raced wide throughout the event.

BROWN WATER laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Jockey J Morris (GRANDKIDS ROCK) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 7: Lloyds Assets Services C, G & E Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Drop Shot 2nd – Tuned In 3rd – Famous Grouse 4th – Flame Fighter

HEAD DRAGON (L Rolls) and READY TO FLY (M Hellyer) bumped on jumping away.

HEEZA BONZA (J Orman) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Approaching the 400m ZIZZELDO (N Masuda) attempted to shift out to improve but was unable to do so due to FLAME FIGHTER (T Wolfgram) racing to its outside. ZIZZELDO was then held up until approaching the 200m where it clipped the heels of FAMOUS GROUSE (S Fawke) and blundered badly.

Jockey T Wolfgram reported that his intention was to take up a position on the speed however FLAME FIGHTER was unable to muster the necessary speed in the early stages of the event despite his efforts. Jockey Wolfgram added that FLAME FIGHTER then commenced to over-race leaving the 900m. Jockey Wolfgram was of the view that FLAME FIGHTER may be better suited ridden with cover in future.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HEAD DRAGON, Jockey L Rolls stated his intention was to obtain a forward position however after beginning only fairly he was of the view that he would have been caught wide and as such he elected to obtain a mid-field position with cover.

App. N Masuda reported that he was instructed to ride ZIZZELDO out of the barriers in an effort to obtain a forward position. However, when TUNED IN and FAMOUS GROUSE pressed forward to his outside he was content to allow those runners to cross forward of him.

A post-race veterinary examination of TUNED IN (T Treichel) revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer K Hickmott will be advised that he must obtain a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness before TUNED IN races again.

Race 8: Choices Flooring Class 3 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Wingara 2nd – Shantung Boxer 3rd – Old Feeling 4th – Lizards Lover

Connections advised that WINGARA (C Whiteley) would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit as the gelding had been slow to begin at its two previous starts and as such connections were of the view that it would perform better when pressured in the early stages of the event. WINGARA was subsequently ridden accordingly. Trainer M Dunn was reprimanded for failing to advise of the change of tactics by the prescribed time.

Trainer P Barron will be advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of ARGERSTOWN (N Masuda) which attempted to buck shortly after the start.

ANNARIO (N Evans) was slow to begin.

LIZARDS LOVER (T Treichel) jumped away awkwardly.

LIZARDS LOVER laid in under pressure in the home straight.

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of BALLINGALL BOY, App. C Schmidt stated that despite travelling comfortably in the early and middle stages of the event, the gelding was under pressure rounding the home turn and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of BALLINGALL BOY failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer J Wallace indicated that BALLINGALL BOY would now be sent for a spell.
