Race 1: Calleija Jewellers Class 5 H’cap – 1200m

The start of this race was delayed when CONFIDENT STAR had to have its tongue tie re-fitted at the barriers.
JUST SAM – Laid out when under pressure in the home straight.
CONFIDENT STAR - Stewards questioned Jockey T Wolfgram as to the disappointing performance. Jockey Wolfgram stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages however leaving the 400m when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved most disappointing. He further added that the 59kgs that CONFIDENT STAR carried today may have had an effect of its performance. A veterinary examination of CONFIDENT STAR revealed the gelding to have a slower than normal recovery rate and showing signs of distress.
Race 2: Alex & Lee 50th Wedding Anniversary C,G&E Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Sum It Up 2nd – Carry to Gold 3rd – Rheago 4th – Tonna Power
Trainer L Garrett was fined the sum of $200 for late rider notification of B Wallace on SNIP OF ROYALTY.
ROYAL CHOICE – Slow into stride.
SUM IT UP – Checked at 1,000m.
CAPTAIN ROUGE – Bumped heavily and shifted in at 1,000m.
DESIDERATA – Shied from another runner and shifted in abruptly at 1,000m.
ETCHES – Raced wide throughout.
SNIP OF ROYALTY – Jockey B Wallace reported that his horse hung out for the majority of the race. A warning will be placed on its racing manners.
RHAEGO – Jockey J Morris reported that his horse wanted to lay in for the majority of the home straight.
Race 3: Men of Business F&M Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Sweets 2nd – Fortunate Four 3rd – Ippy Girl 4th – Delvaux
Connections advised it was their intention to have STELLENBOSCH LOVE ridden in a rearward position if circumstances permit. Public announcements were made. Ridden accordingly.
Failing further submissions, Trainer B Currie was fined $200 for presenting Look At Anything to race with incorrect gear.
DELVAUX – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Disappointed for a run leaving the 400m.
LOOK AT ANYTHING – Near the 1000m steadied from heels. Raced ungenerously during the middle stages. Steadied over concluding stages and raced wide throughout.
I’M NOT HAPPY JAN – Raced greenly and wide throughout.
LAURA’S REIGN – Raced wide throughout.
POP BUBBLE POP – Raced wide throughout.
STELLENBOSCH LOVE – Improved onto heels at the 500m, steadied.
FORTUNATE FOUR – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on a number of occasions in the home straight.
QALATERAL – Near the 50m had to be steadied and alter course.
Race 4: Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Jack’s Jet 2nd – Narasimha 3rd – Casarati 4th – La Ranita
Connections advised it would be their intention to have FUN lead if circumstances permit. Public announcements were made. Raced accordingly.
Connections advised that there would be no specific instructions for JACK’S JET issued to the rider. Jockey C Whiteley advised that it would be his intention to race in a forward position if circumstances permit. Public announcements were made accordingly. Raced mid-field and wide.
CHASING THE DRAGON – Bumped heavily on jumping away, lost ground. Forced wider near the 600m.
FUN – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start bumped heavily, lost ground.
NARASIMHA – Began awkwardly. Placed in restricted room leaving the 500m until near the 300m.
LA RANITA – Jockey L Rolls lost his whip near the 100m.
Jockey B El-Issa (LONYX) and App. S Fawke (NARASIMHA) were both reprimanded for failing to ride their mounts out to the end of the race.
Race 5: Australasian Homes Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Breeze on By 2nd – Amajill 3rd – Despina 4th – Que Cee
DESPINA – Slow into stride.
PRETTY READY – Stood flat-footed and lost ground at the start. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Near the 200m placed in restricted room, steadied momentarily.
INNOCENT – Raced wide from the 800m.
RAISE THE ANTE - Over-raced during the middle stages.
The track was downgraded retrospectively to a Dead 4.
Race 6: Qld Marine Centre Class 1 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Sheeda Gal 2nd – Wasabi Punch 3rd – Magic in Action 4th – Host Nation
Failing further submissions, Trainer D Bougoure was fined $100 for the late rider notification of A Spinks on GRACEFUL ROSE.
HOST NATION – Slow into stride.
AUBREY’S ACE - Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
WASABI PUNCH - Held up during the early part of the home straight. Near the 200m bumped on several occasions.
App. S Fawke (VAN HOOLIGAN) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
Jockey J Morris was reprimanded for failing to ride HOST NATION out to the end of the race and also fined $100 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
Jockey B El-Issa (MAGIC IN ACTION) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
