Stewards considered an objection lodged by App C. Schmidt the rider of BINGO ROSE which finished fourth against AVALANCHES (G. Cooksley) being declared second on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight. It was established that when attempting a narrow run between AVALANCHES and SEA RED, BINGO ROSE initially made contact with the hind quarters of SEA RED turning that runner inwards. A short distance later AVALANCHES shifted out marginally. As stewards could not be satisfied the interference suffered by BINGO ROSE could be directly attributed to the marginal shift from AVALANCHES the objection was subsequently dismissed and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

ROCKLEIGH – When questioned as to the performance jockey M. Cahill stated that the gelding raced greenly throughout and as a result lost ground leaving the 500m when I’M ALONE shifted out forward of him to obtain clear running. Jockey Cahill added that as a consequence he was obliged to shift back to the inside of I’M ALONE to obtain clear running in the home straight, at which point the gelding began to respond to his riding and found the line well over the concluding stages. Jockey Cahill was of the view that the gelding may appreciate a step up in distance.

Jockey R. Fradd the rider of I’M ALONE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 300m making heavy contact with PINKMAN resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Jockey Fradd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 6 October 2014 and expire midnight 17 October 2014.

Jockey J. Morris (GRAPPA BRANDY) was fined $200.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
