Race 1: Toxfree QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Mishani Honcho 2nd – Falchion 3rd – Polly Parrot 4th – Curtailment
RAID THE JEWELS – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied near 400m.
POLLY PARROT – Leaving the 500m became unbalanced.
Race 2: Toxfree – Smartskip Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Judge Ruby 2nd – Betterthanyouthink 3rd – Amazing Rosais 4th – Le Bijou
TEEKAYO - Connections advised to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Raced in a rearward position.
AMAZING ROSAIS – Shortly after start steadied when tightened for room.
FAIRWAY CLOSE – Raced wide throughout and near the 400m became unbalanced.
BANK JOB – Leaving 1200m commenced to over-race and near the 1000m shifted out and bumped another runner. Near the 400m bumped on a number of occasions and became unbalanced.
LE BIJOU – Bumped near the 1000m.
Race 3: Toxfree Industrial Services Class 4 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Salerio 2nd – Popstar Pete 3rd – After the Bounce 4th – Dazzling Knight
POPSTAR PETE – Connections advised to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Hung out rounding the home turn.
WASABI PUNCH – When questioned as to the poor performance of Wasabai Punch, Jockey C Whitely stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages and leaving the 600m when the speed increased his mount could not quicken and from that point on and failed to respond to his riding. He could not offer any tangible explanation for the mare’s poor performance today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
TERTIARY – When questioned as to the poor performance of Tertiary, Jockey J Morris stated that the horse only travelled fairly in the early and middle stages and leaving the 600m was under pressure and failed to respond to his riding. He also added that the mare may not have handled the impost of 59 kgs today and also the removal of blinkers may have been a contributing factor to its poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
Race 4: Toxfree Recycling Class 3 Plate – 1400m
1st – Nicked and Caught 2nd – Casarati 3rd – Moon and the Stars 4th – Show Harmony
ROMEO LAD – Momentarily steadied at the 400m.
PANIOLO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to its off hind cannon.
Race 5: Toxfree Solutions Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Strawberry Crush 2nd – Ippy Girl 3rd – I Like Candy 4th – Shady Ex
GALLIC WONDER – Trainer S Shultz was reprimanded for presenting the gelding late to the enclosure. Near the 700m shifted in making heavy contact with another runner. Forced wide rounding home turn.
ISIS SPINNER – When being steadied near the 700m, bumped heavily and had to be checked.
SHE’S A UNIT – Near the 700m bumped and made heavy contact with the running rail becoming unbalanced and had to be checked.
KELLEELIZA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 700m had to be checked from heels and shifted out.
IPPY GIRL – At the 600m steadied from heels. Forced wide rounding home turn.
I LIKE CANDY - Forced wide rounding home turn.
SHOVELS – Raced wide throughout.
Jockey R McMahon (STRAWBERRY CRUSH) was severely reprimanded under AR137(d) for setting an excessively slow tempo.
Race 6: Toxfree Hazardous Class 6 Plate – 1200m
1st – The White Hope 2nd – Voodoo Blue Magic 3rd – Take a Jacket 4th – Baron Douro
No racing incidents.
Race 7: Toxfree Waste Management Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Talon Lady 2nd – Lanikai Miss 3rd – No Magic Needed 4th – Ollie Runs Riot
OLLIE RUNS RIOT – Blundered on jumping away.
NO MAGIC NEEDED – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
Race 8: Jupiters Hotel & Casino Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Skytastic 2nd – Boris Badenov 3rd – Anasheed 4th – Casino Express
Subject to further submissions, Trainer G Heinrich was fined the sum of $200 for late rider notification of Jockey R McMahon on CASINO EXPRESS.
SKYTASTIC – Slow into stride. App. L Dittman was fined the sum of $200 for returning to scale in excess of ½ kg over his declared weight.
SHE WHO KNOWS – Slow into stride.
ANASHEED – Raced wide for the majority of event.
