App Appo further added he was unable to clear BEYOND INFINITY leaving the 500m and as a result the gelding failed to finish off the race as expected. HOPFGARTEN – When questioned as to the disappointing performance App B. Grylls stated that after beginning only fairly she was content to allow the gelding to travel where it was comfortable, which resulted in it racing further back than anticipated. App Grylls added that the gelding raced flat today and failed to respond to her riding at any stage and proved disappointing. App Grylls was of the view that the gelding may have failed to back up from its first up performance. Jockey Harrison added that the mare had raced in a similar pattern previously where it had still proved to be competitive and as such she was of the view that given the way the mare failed to finish the race off today it may have come to the end of its current racing preparation. Whilst noting the explanation stewards advised jockey Harrison that in their opinion she should have made a greater effort to restrain the gelding after obtaining the lead leaving the 1100m. Stable representative M. Downes confirmed the mare would be sent for an immediate spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken.
