Race 1. CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1000 METRES
MANPOZEST (S Quick) was fractious in the barriers.
MY BELLADONNA (T Kruger) raced ungenerously in the middle stages when being struck in the face with sand.
Approaching the home turn JUST PLAY (R Hall) changed stride and shifted out sharply costing itself ground. No inconvenience to any other runner.
Race 2. MAIDEN PLATE – 850 METRES
HANDY HERO (S Quick) reluctant to load and dislodged its rider prior to the start.
Approaching the home turn MAGIC GREY MAN (M Evans) hung out and clipped the heels of QUEEN OF THE STARS (J Stephens).
CANDY DREAMS (G Booth) raced greenly in the early stages and then jumped the shadow of the winning post.
GOLLY GOLD (R Hall) raced greenly throughout.
Race 3. CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1194 METRES
ESCUTHEONS (M Evans) jumped in the air losing ground.
Shortly after the start CHUNG LING (R Hall) shifted in and bumped SOPHIE'S LAD (L Timson).
CHUNG LING tended to race greenly throughout.
SET AND BET (S Quick) raced ungenerously in the early stages when struck with sand.
Race 4. CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1500 METRES
From about the 700m and on the home turn IN COBARGO (NZ) (T Kruger)lugged out taking ACQUIRE (R Hall) wider on the track.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of IN COBARGO (NZ), T Kruger stated that the horse had been racing over longer distances recently and felt flat today. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 5. GLADSTONE CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1608 METRES
CITICHARM scratched at 12.05pm on advice from the trainer that the horse had been injured. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to renominating.
Approaching the winning post EIRIE RETREAT (J Stephens) had to steady off the heels of CRAIGLEA EGO (T Kruger).
After leaving the straight EIRIE RETREAT had to steady from the heels of CRAIGLEA EGO when that horse steadied from the heels of IN THE DISTANCE (D Evans).
HE’S A KWILA (S Quick) commenced to lose ground from about the 650m and failed to run on.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
