Supplementary Report
Stewards inquired into a safety vest Apprentice C. Pye weighed out for Race 1 at Thangool Friday 25th March, 2011. While it was established that this vest did not meet the Australian Racing Board standard, Stewards gave consideration to the fact that Apprentice Pye had not concealed this vest, had not worn it with the intention of gaining a weight advantage and had only had it for a short period of time. Her honest admissions in regard to this matter were considered favourable. This vest was returned to Apprentice Pye for her equestrian interests and Stewards issues a direction that this vest was not to be used on a racecourse and any unapproved vest used by her, a severe penalty may be imposed.
Stewards inquired into a report from the Racing Science Centre that a vial of “Bleeder X” taken from the Gladstone Turf Club stables of Trainer Denis Schultz contained stanzolol. Trainer D. Schultz pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 80E in that he did have in his registered stables, a substance that is not registered or prescribed in compliance with the relevant State and Commonwealth legislation. In relation to penalty, Stewards took into account various migitating circumstances, particularly that this was Mr. Schultz’s second breach of this rule in a 12 month period, and was fined $1200 and given 3 months to pay.
