GENERAL
As Jockey L. Dillon was unable to ride due to personal reasons, rider changes were made as per the rider summary sheet.
Race 1: CLASS B (1194 METRES)
1st RYTARGA 2nd LADY OAKS 3rd VIV’S CHARM 4th- RHINO
RYTARGA (T O’Hara) and RHINO (D Evans) were both slow into stride.
LADY OAKS (App K Gates) was slow into stride and raced wide from the 600 metres.
ROYAL FUSILIER (S Evans) slipped on jumping.
Shortly after the start DON’T TELL ALI (App A Kitson) jumped outwards and bumped SPANNA (D Hayes) resulting in SPANNA shifting out and bumping ROYAL FUSILIER.
MOISTEN (D Philpot) failed to take the first turn at the 1000 metres shifted out and tightened DON’T TELL ALI (App A Kitson) between MOISTEN and SPANNA (D Hayes). As a result DON”T TELL ALI had to be steadied momentarily and lost ground.
VIV”S CHARM (S McGovern) raced wide throughout. Trainer C Garland reported that VIV’S CHARM had bruised both hind bumpers.
Race 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1194 METRES)
1st DISCO LEMONADE 2nd AZAHARA 3rd ROYAL JESS 4th- GOLDEN BLESSING
On jumping GOLDEN BLESSING (A Coome) jumped inwards and bumped heavily
with ROYAL JESS (J Stephens).
AZAHARA raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
Race 3: BENCHMARK 65 (1000 METRES)
1st–LIBERTY TYCOON 2nd – OTANGO 3rd BEL SHANDY 4th- STAKED EMOTION
STAKED EMOTION (A Coome) broke through the barriers prior to the start and was restrained shortly after.
SPIRIT OF CHOICE (D Philpot) was declared a late scratching at 11.02pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice after rearing over in the barriers on 2 occasions.
Stewards ordered all monies invested on SPIRIT OF CHOICE to be refunded and declared the following deductions were to occur, 13 cents the win 16 cents the place. Trainer A Jones was advised that SPIRIT OF CHOICE must perform two barrier trials to the satisfaction of stewards before nominating SPIRIT OF CHOICE to race again.
As the start was effected STAKED EMOTION stood flat footed and as result was extremely slow into stride. STAKED EMOTION then raced wide in the early and middle stages.
OUTBACK SAPPER (C Pye) raced wide throughout.
Race 4: OPEN HANDICAP (850 metres)
1st DIRECT DEBIT 2nd TROPIC GEM 3rd JEALOUS GUY 4th – ROSE OF LAWRENCE
Shortly after the start DIRECT DEBIT (J Stephens) shifted out and bumped REV THE CHEV (D Hayes).
ROVERT (A Coome) and REV THE CHEV (D Hayes) both raced wide throughout.
Race 5: BENCHMARK 65 (1517 metres)
1st TIGERLICIOUS 2nd BASE JUMP 3rd KANSKJE 4th- NORDIC WARRIOR
Following Race 3, Apprentice K Gates was stood down as she had aggravated a previous shoulder injured and was subsequently replaced by S McGovern as the rider of SANSIRA. Apprentice K Gates was advised she must furnish a doctors certificate before riding again.
GRAND TURK (C Mae Pye) raced wide in the early stages.
SANSIRA (S McGovern) and TIGERLICIOUS (D Hayes) both raced wide throughout.
