AUGUST AMBER: Refused to load. Barrier Certificate.

RACE 1: GOONDIWINDI COMMUNICATIONS MAIDEN PLATE – 900M

Permission was granted for Apprentice R Graham not to claim on is mount BENDEMERE BOY.

AUGUST AMBER was declared a late scratching at 1:21pm after refusing to load. Deductions of 5c win and 5c place were ordered on the face value of all tickets. Connections were advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the filly’s next start.

BENDEMERE BOY was slow to begin.

GUN YAH GOLD and HOT TILL DAWN were both tightened for room at the start between WHAT’S HEGUNNADO, which jumped awkwardly out and PONY, which jumped in.

BENDEMERE BOY attempted to buck shortly after the start and was reluctant to stretch out once behind horses due to the dust and clods being thrown back. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings’ manners.

M Cullen the rider of PONY was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in leaving the 800m, taking DANGEROUS HOST in onto EVORG hampering both horses and causing EVORG to be checked.

DANGEROUS HOST hung out from the 600m until entering the straight.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by J Baker the rider of the fourth place getter, GUN YAH GOLD, against the third place getter, DANGEROUS HOST ridden by S Galvin, alleging interference making the home turn. After taking evidence from both riders and viewing the patrol film, it was established that whilst DANGEROUS HOST did shift out on the home turn making contact with GUN YAH GOLD, stewards did not feel that the ground lost was sufficient to over turn the neck margin and correct weight was given on the semaphored numbers.

GUN YAH GOLD was forced to race wide through out.

RACE 2: MACINTYRE VALLEY COTTON GROWERS ASSOC. CLASS 3 H-CAP – 900M

Both RULE MY LIFE and INTERLINGO were slow to begin.

Stewards questioned D McMaster the rider of EFTPOS regarding her tactics adopted during the early and middle stages of the event. She stated she had been told not to bustle the horse too much to go with the leaders and to give the horse a break during the middle stages. Stewards advised Jockey McMaster they were not pleased with the lack of vigor displayed during the early and middle stages and that a display of more vigor in an attempt to hold the position she had obtained would be expected in future. A post race vet examination of EFTPOS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

NAUNIM and SILVER CENTUZA were forced to race wide through out.

RACE 3: GUNDY SPRAY SHOP CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1100M

MONEY PIT was slow to begin.

PUGGY jumped away awkwardly making heavy contact with the barriers and losing ground.

Stewards questioned M Sano the rider of MONEY PIT regarding the tactics adopted during the early and middle stages of the event. M Sano stated that his instructions were to position himself back at the tail and allow the horse to settle. Trainer G Popp confirmed these instructions. Stewards informed M Sano he had overdone the instructions in that he had allowed MONEY PIT to lose too much ground and be too far from the tail of the field during the early and middle stages.

SHOULD BE SPEEDY raced wide when attempting to lead during the early stages.

RACE 4: WELCOME ULYSSES MEMBERS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

RECKLESS CANON jumped away awkwardly.

BAKE’S MISTAKE was slow to begin.

RIVER NOTE was slowly into stride.

Leaving the 1000m, HURRY HOME shifted in abruptly hampering SIZZLING FACT, which shifted in and away from HURRY HOME hampering SLIP ALONG and RECKLESS CANON, which both lost ground. SIZZLING FACT then commenced to lose ground when reluctant to race behind horses due to the dust and clods being thrown back. A post race vet examination of SIZZLING FACT failed to reveal any abnormalities.

S Galvin the rider of RECKLESS CANON was severely reprimanded when over the concluding stages he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure hampering RIVER NOTE, which in turn shifted in causing SUR LE BLOND, which shifted out, to be checked. When assessing penalty stewards took into account the shift from SUR LE BLOND, which contributed to the incident.

BEAT THE GUN was forced to race wide through out.

RACE 5: NORCO PAULS MILK GOONDIWINDI COTTON CUP H'CAP – 1200M

A Vet examination of MONEY PIT, which performed in the third event, found the horse to be fit to take its’ place in the field.

Leaving the 1100m, NASA ROYALE (NZ) was tightened for room and was forced to check when racing between TRUSTY TOMAS, which shifted in and RAPADAMA, which was forced out by HE’S SO CHEEKY, which shifted out. J Starr the rider of HE’S SO CHEEKY was advised to exercise more care.

TRUSTY TOMAS suffered a bleeding attack for the second time. Connections were advised that a lifetime bar would be placed on the gelding.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight D Frahm the rider of TOUCH OF MOOBALL expressed concerns that he had run fourth despite not being semaphored in the placings. Stewards viewed the photo finish and the numbers were revised to read as below and correct weight was given.

RACE 6: CARGILL COTTON & BORDER RIVERS COMPUTER S’CES CL B H'CAP–1800M

B Appo the rider of FLYING SECRET was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that, passing the winning post the first time he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISSY ROYALE, which was taken in onto SANDY CREEK causing both horses to be checked. B Appos’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence midnight June 12 and to conclude midnight June 26. Following this incident SANDY CREEK refused to settle for some distance, losing ground and severely hampering CARRY THE FAIR.

Leaving the 600m, WILD INTENTION was tightened for room and was forced to check when racing between the tiring DARBONNARIE, which shifted in and KITSCH, which shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. P Clarke the rider of KITSCH was reprimanded for this incident.

Making the home turn, WILD INTENTION was tightened for room and lost ground when racing to the inside of SANDY CREEK, which shifted in and away from CANA BOY, which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its’ rider.

L McCoy was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in that making the home turn, after being held up for clear running she directed her mount, CARRY THE FAIR out to obtain clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with KITSCH.

WILD INTENTION was momentarily held up for clear running in the straight.

G Taylor the trainer of SANDY CREEK reported that the gelding had been severely galloped on both hind legs.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
