RACE 1:TYCO WATER/OPUS INTERNATIONAL CLASS 3 PLATE 1375M:
1ST-Stephen Got Even 2nd-Dalingi 3rd-Naturally Mine 4th-Fulham

STEPHEN GOT EVEN (N Ogura) raced wide for the majority of the event.

FINE FINISH (J Johnson) raced wide until a point near the 800m.

Near the 900m, FINE FINISH and SUZMIMA (S Sweedman) made contact when SUZMIMA shifted out whilst over racing.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards considered protest lodged by N Evans the rider of the 3rd placed horse NATURALLY MINE against the winner STEPHEN GOT EVEN (N Ogura). Stewards also considered protests lodged by App. S Egan the rider of the 4th placed horse FULHAM against the 3rd placed NATURALLY MINE and also the 1st placed STEPHEN GOT EVEN with all protests alleging interference over the concluding stages of the event. Stewards after taking evidence from the connections and riders of all horses involved in the protest and after viewing the Stewards patrol films found that after leaving the 100m, STEPHEN GOT EVEN commenced to shift out under pressure and at a point after leaving the 50m commenced to dictate the line of NATURALLY MINE outwards resulting in that runner shifting out and making contact with FULHAM which was inconvenienced. In relation to the protest 4th versus 3rd Stewards ruled that the inconvenience caused to FULHAM by NATURALLY MINE could not be directly attributed to NATURALLY MINE and therefore dismissed the protest. In relation to the protests 3rd & 4th versus 1st Stewards acknowledged that both runners were inconvenienced by STEPHEN GOT EVEN shifting outwards, however bearing in mind the margin between the runners at the finish and also the proximity of the incident to the finish line Stewards were of the opinion that a reversal of the placings was not warranted and therefore the protests were dismissed.

At a subsequent inquiry app. N Ogura was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out.

RACE 2: BORAL ASPHALT MAIDEN PLATE 1000M-
1st-Easy Lager 2nd-Rock Mode 3rd-Spiffing 4th-Liberty Quest

EASY LAGER (J Warrington) jumped in at the start bumping NAVILLUS BLONDIE (N Ogura) which in turn shifted in bumping LADY DAICHI (J Kehoe) which was inconvenienced and lost ground.

ROCK MODE (K Banks) and TULLAGRIE (S Egan) bumped on jumping away when both runners shifted ground.

ROCK MODE hung out for the majority of the event.

LIBERTY QUEST (N Evans) raced wide during the early and middle stages of the event.

Trainer G Osborne advised that following the poor performance of LADY DAICHI which trailed the field throughout, that the filly will now be retired.

RACE 3: TWEED TRAFFIC SERVICES OPEN H’CAP 1000M-
1st-Beachcomber 2nd-Final Opinion 3rd-Dextrus 4th-One Eyed

GETAMOVEON (N Nishio) which began awkwardly losing ground raced wide throughout.

CHASKI (N Ogura) began awkwardly losing ground.

Near the 800m, FINAL OPINION (B Cornell) and KNEEL AND RAISE (S Egan) bumped.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics and overall performance of KNEEL AND RAISE which performed below market expectations. App. S Egan advised that as per the regular racing pattern of KNEEL AND RAISE he did not bustle the gelding during the early stages of the event as it has an extensive history of over racing when ridden in this manner. App. Egan added that this resulted in KNEEL AND RAISE settling towards the tail of the field in a fast run race. App. Egan further advised that he was mindful that KNEEL AND RAISE has previously hung out badly when ridden along whilst on tight turning tracks and therefore elected not to vigorously ride the gelding along until entering the home straight. App. Egan then added that he was disappointed for a run in the early stages of the home straight when he attempted to improve however was held up on the heels of FINAL OPINION and was forced to shift to the inside to obtain clear running in the run to the finish. Mr. Dougall advised that he was not surprised with where the gelding was positioned during the event given the fast tempo of the race and furthermore that he advised App. Egan not to ride the gelding vigorously around the tight turns given the gelding’s previous history of hanging out when ridden in this manner. Mr. Dougall further added that the gelding would be better suited in races over further distance then the 1000m of today’s event. Stewards noted the explanations.

RACE 4: ARTCRAFT CLASS 2 H’CAP 1000M-
1st-Cheque For Freedom 2nd-Jam Tin 3rd-Hay Annie 4th-Little Zachary

DAWN RISING (S Sweedman) was slow to begin.

Near the 800m, LITTLE ZACHARY (N Ogura) which was over racing, was forced to ease to avoid the heels of RIVIERA MOSS (N Evans) which shifted in.

Near the 800m, SISTAGIRL (S Egan) was tightened for room and forced to ease when racing between LITTLE ZACHARY and HAY ANNIE (J Warrington) which shifted in.

For a short distance leaving the 700m, SISTAGIRL raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained.

Near the 50m, DAWN RISING was disappointed for a run between SISTAGIRL and HAY ANNIE which shifted in. J Warrington was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when not clear.
