RACE ONE Class 1 Handicap 1360 Metres 5 Starters
No incidents in running.

RACE TWO 2YO Maiden Handicap 1000 Metres 8 Starters
As the gates opened MR. PROMISE (F.Edwards) jumped outwards. MORRIE’S FINITO (B.Corbett) stood flat footed and missed the start considerably. Soon after the start KID CANDY (App D.Crossland) shifted outwards abruptly and inconvenienced the running of LASSIE CREEK (K.Rockett). LAUREN’S LUCK (K.Brady) struck the running rail soon after jumping away from the stalls. AMARANTE (C.Symons) hung out badly from the 700mtr mark. Trainer R.Moller was advised that the horse must now pass an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

RACE THREE Open Handicap 1000 Metres 8 Starters
CHAMBIRA (I.Toward) knuckled when leaving the barriers.

RACE FOUR Class 5 Handicap 1360 Metres 5 Starters
No incidents in running.

RACE FIVE Open Handicap 1800 Metres 11 Starters
Apprentice C.Lee was admonished for using his whip in an excessive manner on HAKIM.

GENERAL REPORT:
On Friday the 6th October 2000 the Stewards concluded the adjourned inquiry into the running and handling of PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE which competed at Atherton on Saturday the 23rd September 2000. After taking Further evidence from Trainer R.Chillemi, Apprentice D.Crossland and part-owner Mr T.Hedley, the Stewards accepted the explanations from Mr Chillemi and took no further action. Stewards gave Apprentice D.Crossland the benefit of a very grave doubt with regard to his handling of PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, and Apprentice Crossland was made aware of Arr135(b).

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for licensed Bookmaker Mr John Melvin using a mobile telephone during the course of the race meeting. The inquiry is set to reconvene on Saturday the 14th October 2000 at the Cairns Jockey Club’s Stewards room.
