Race 1: Temperzone Hitachi Class 2 Handicap – 1100M
1st – Stieg 2nd – Six Bob 3rd – Heavenly View 4th – Village Command

The start of the race was delayed 12 minutes due to a malfunction with the starting gates.

MENDEZ (M. Atkinson) jumped awkwardly as the start was effected bumping VILLAGE COMMAND (R. Ryan) who lost ground as a result.

Stewards questioned jockey P. Cullen (MONASHEE SUCCESS) Nor Bin Yadi (SIX BOB), W. D’Avila (HEAVENLY VIEW), S. Pawsey (STIEG) and K. Stone (SPECIAL CREDIT) in relation to an incident at approximated the 800 metre point where SIX BOB was tightened for racing room and lost his position in the field racing one out in advance of MONASHEE SUCCESS on the fence and HEAVENLY VIEW outside. After hearing evidence from the jockeys concerned and from viewing the film stewards were of the opinion no one particular rider could be blamed for the incident however, stewards advised K. Stone who was racing five wide to exercise more caution as he shifted in slightly causing STIEG (S. Pawsey) to shift in resulting in very tight racing. W. D.Avila (HEAVENLY VIEW) racing outside and advance of SIX BOB (N. Bin Yadi) was also cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in.

SPECIAL CREDIT (K. Stone) raced wide over the concluding stages of the race.

STIEG was inspected by the veterinarian after the race after becoming entangled in the winning stall in the marshalling yard.

Race 2: Jackson and Jackson Refrigeration QTIS Maiden Plate – 1100M
1st – Heza Riches 2nd – Five Sixty 3rd – Hidden Manner Jet 4th – Pyramid Gold

WANGAN EXPRESS was scratched by stewards at 12:40 hours due to no rider being available.

GREY ASH was scratched by stewards at 13:12 hours due to no rider being available.

GOLDVAN (M. Atkinson) was fractious in the barrier and kicked out at the gates. GOLDVAN was inspected by the veterinarian and was withdrawn at the barrier.

RYANANDROSES (F. Edwards) stumbled out of the gates as the start was effected and shifted out in front of SEA QUEEN (N. Bin Yadi) who lost considerable ground as a result.

FIVE SIXTY (S. Pawsey) checked off the heels of SEA QUEEN (N. Bin Yadi) at approximately the 500 metre point of the race.

Prior to the correct weight being semaphored a deduction of 8¢ in the dollar for a win bet and 11¢ in the dollar on place bets was directed. All investments on GOLDVAN to be refunded.

Race 3: Daikin Air-Conditioning Class B Handicap – 1360M
1st – Royal Impact 2nd – Parmigiana 3rd – Spurparts 4th – Dragon Keeper

ROYAL IMPACT (B. Swaffer) raced ungenerously from the start to approximately the 450 metre point. Apprentice Swaffer advised that the horse raced with its head in the air in the early stages of the race.

Race 4: U Don’t Need a New Roof Class 4 Handicap – 1360M
1st – Gumly’s Blu Boy 2nd – Midnite Raid 3rd – Genaperu 4th – Simple Task

A protest was lodged by W. D;Avila (GOGO DELAGO) placed 5th against P. Cullen (GENAPERU) placed 3rd for alleged interference over the concluding stages of the race. After hearing evidence from the riders and connections and from stewards observations the protest was dismissed and the judge’s placings confirmed.

Further to the hearing of the protest stewards reprimanded P. Cullen for allowing his mount to shift in approximated 20 metres from the finish causing GOGO DELAGO to be inconvenienced.

Race 5: CNW Electrical Wholesalers Gordonvale Cup Open Handicap – 1800M
1st – Our Private Jet 2nd – Mob Rule 3rd – Damashqui 4th – Izacat

MOUNT ASPIRING NZ (N. Bin Yadi( was slow into stride as the start was effected.

COOLSHOW (B, Swaffer) raced fiercely approaching the 1100 metre point of the race.

COOLSHOW (B. Swaffer) and DAMASHQUI (S. Kaya) bumped at the 800 metre point.
