KOOLKUNA BABE (F. Edwards) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
WISHFUL (App S. Wiseman) made the crossing near the 800 metres awkwardly and lost some ground.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of WISHFUL, Apprentice S. Wiseman stated that WISHFUL was fractious in the barriers prior to the start and in her opinion the filly raced flat. Apprentice Wiseman further added that when she placed WISHFUL under pressure near the 600 metres she responded only fairly to her riding. A post –race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Subsequently stable representative Mr P Rowe stated that after the filly arrived home and had cooled down she was found to be lame in the off hind leg and that WISHFUL would be sent for an immediate spell. At the start JEWEL OF MARKANE (F. Edwards) jumped outwards and made contact with ALEXANDER PARADE (App S. Wiseman).
When asked to explain the disappointing performance of ALEXANDER PARADE, Apprentice S Wiseman stated that the gelding travelled well until near the 900 metre mark where it shied at something on the inside of the track and when doing so ALEXANDER PARADE failed to travel and dropped back to the rear of the field. Apprentice Wiseman further stated that the gelding also jumped the crossing near the 800 metres and when placed under pressure near the 600 metres responded only fairly to her riding. After viewing the Stewards patrol film stable representative Mr P. Rowe agreed with the comments of Apprentice Wiseman and added that this was ALEXANDER PARADES first start at this track and that the gelding may not have handled the tighter racing circuit. A post – race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had gone down on its hind bumpers.

1st – MIATA 2nd – LADY BULLMORE 3rd – CASHED UP BULLY 4th – JUST BLING

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of SPURPARTS, Jockey F Edwards stated that the SPURPARTS was second up today and in his opinion the track surface was too firm for the gelding's liking. Jockey Edwards further added that he placed the gelding under pressure near the 600 metres and it failed to respond to his riding. Trainer Mr G Baker agreed with the comments of Jockey Edwards and added that the ground was way too firm for the gelding today. A post – race veterinary examination of SPURPARTS did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards noted there explanations.
A post – race veterinary examination of both BREAKTHROUGH and GEESIX revealed both horses to have a case of the thumps.
