GENERAL:
After receiving a phone call from RISA after the scratching deadline, stewards accepted the late scratchings of HOT LIPS ROSIE (Race 1) on vet’s advice at 7.48am and BALINESE BOY (Race 5) at 7.48am. Trainer Mr B Gill tendered a vet certificate for HOT LIPS ROSIE.
MANNY SUGGESTIONS – trainer Mrs. K. Hill provided a veterinary certificate that was required prior to Race 1.
Trainer B Gill was asked to explain the nomination, acceptance and scratching of ASTRALIN (Race 5). Mr Gill stated that after working the horse on Thursday morning he accepted with the horse, however during that day he was not happy with the horse and decided to scratch the horse and send the horse to the paddock for an immediate spell. Stewards noted his explanation.
RACE 1: GYMPIE COOLOOLA FOOD SERVICE MAIDEN PLATE 1170M
COZELETTE - late scratching at 1.20pm when unable to be loaded into barriers. All bets on COZELETTE were to be refunded and deductions as per Racing Queensland schedule of deductions applied, being 17 cents for the winner and 19 cents for the place for first and second. All bets were subject to deductions. Connections of COZELETTE were advised that the horse will be barred from racing until it performs satisfactorily in one jump-out and one official barrier trial.
MY SWEET ONE knuckled on jumping and then raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 2: KWIK KERB GYMPIE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1170M
BACKSTREET JACK – Trainer Mr D Peckett was reprimanded for presenting the horse to race without winkers. Mr Peckett advised stewards that he had spoken to RISA and removed the tongue tie, which he was advised was the only gear on the horse. Stewards informed Mr Peckett to contact RISA and make the appropriate changes to the horse’s gear before presenting it to race again.
CANID began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey P Romeo was asked to explain the performance of his mount. Jockey Romeo reported that his mount was reluctant to race in the early and middle stages due to the kickback of sand, but when he got the horse to the outside after passing the 600mt mark the horse raced a little better, however did not finish off the race in the home straight. Jockey Romeo said in his opinion he felt the horse may have been a bit flat and advised connections that the horse may be looking for a spell.
FOREGONE raced wide throughout the event.
KUTCHER began awkwardly and slipped at the start, losing considerable ground. On approaching the winning post raced in restricted room due to tightening from BEAUTRIX (T Williams). Jockey T Williams was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
ZABOMB raced wide with cover throughout the race.
RACE 3: JOCKEY CLUB HOTEL BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1030M
EMERTON - slow to begin
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of the second placed horse to view the official photo finish image. After doing so, connections were satisfied with the image and result and stewards declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the judge.
LADY IN FRONT - Jockey Ms A Van Der Sanden pleaded guilty to a charge for failing to ride her horse out to the end of the race. Ms Van Der Sanden was fined the sum of $100.00.
RACE 4: AJW MOBILE DIESEL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1470M
LADY’S COMMAND - slow to begin
TANGO KING - Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Jockey Ms N Summers pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding whereby approaching the winning post on the first occasion she allowed her mount to shift in when
insufficiently clear of COMMANDER BOND (Jockey J Hoopert), forcing him to check his mount and lose his rightful running. Jockey Ms N Summers was suspended from midnight 27 September up to and including 6 October (5 meetings).
GLENROCK MAX – became awkward after improving onto the heels of the THE BLIZZARD at the 1200m mark and shifted out forcing Tango King wider on the track. GLENROCK MAX was vetted post-race and found to have been galloped on with a laceration to its near foreleg.
ZINDABLAKE – jockey S. Bayliss was asked to explain its poor performance. He stated that when he won on the mare last start she travelled well when able to lead whereas today she raced back in the field and resented the kickback. He stated that he was disappointed with today’s performance.
RACE 5: GYMPIE TIMES OPEN HANDICAP 1470M
LEGSMAN hung out rounding the first turn out of the home straight.
