Race 1: Digger’s Maiden Plate – 900 metres:
1st – LOTSA PENNIES 2nd – GOODNESS GRACIOUS 3rd – MOONLIGHT CAFE 4th – ODE TO ME

MARAJU KID was a late withdrawal by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1:10pm when the gelding sat down in the barriers and became cast. Stewards advised Trainer M. Preston that MARAJU KID would need to obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to start again.
Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MARJU KID be refunded, with the following deductions to apply on all successful bets placed prior to 2:26pm.

1st LOTSA PENNIES 0cents win – 12cents place
2nd GOODNESS GRACIOUS 10cents place
3rd MOONLIGHT CAFÉ 6cents place

ROYAL BAR (App E. Ljung) was slow to begin.

DIURNAL TIGER (G. Kliese) and MOONLIGHT CAFÉ (S. Wilson) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 600m, ODE TO ME (App S. Cook) who was racing greenly shifted in and made contact with the running rail.


Race 2: ANZAC Day Benchmark 75 Handicap – 900 metres:
1st – WHITSUNDAY EXPRESS 2nd – ORIENTELLE 3rd – MONCHING 4th – LYNDI’S GIFT

ERFAAN (App S. Cook) was slow to begin.

HEZA RULLAH (A. Dykes) reared at the start and as a consequence lost ground.

At the start WHITSUNDAY EXPRESS (S. Wilson) jump outwards and made contact with MONCHING (F. Edwards).

ERFAAN (App S. Cook) and LYNDI’S GIFT (M. Elliott) both raced wide throughout.

Jockey S. Wilson the rider of WHITSUNDAY EXPRESS was reprimanded under AR137(c) for a celebratory gesture prior to the wining post. Stewards took into account jockey Wilson’s good record and the fact that he had never breached this rule previously.


Race 3: Kokoda Class 2 Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – DANGAR DIVA 2nd – ROCKETMOUNTAINHIGH 3rd – LAGO LIES 4th – WILLYWYNYA

PRINCE GERARD (App J. Kuskopf) was slow to begin.

On jumping away ROCKETMOUNTAINHIGH (T. Bannon) and TUTUDUMONDE (F. Edwards) made contact.

GILDED LASS (J. Felix) raced wide in the early stages.

Near the 600m PRINCE GERARD (App J. Kuskopf) made contact with the running rail.


Race 4: Long Tan Class 4 Handicap – 1180 metres:
1st – BELLASPIRIT 2nd – MAYWEATHER 3rd – DECADERO 4th – STROM THE RHYTHM

At the start VAIN DAZZLER (F. Edwards) jumped out taking MAECENUS (J. Babarovich) out on to STARLISTIC (App J. Kuskopf) which was further taken out on to BELLASPIRIT (G. Kliese) which was forced to steady when tightened for room.

SMUTTY JOHNS (D. Andrews) failed to muster any early speed.

STARLISTIC (App J. Kuskopf) raced wide throughout.

Near the 100 metres VAIN DAZZLER (F. Edwards) who was shifting out under pressure had to be steadied off the heels of STROM THE RHYTHM (S. Wilson).


Race 5: RSL Class B Hadicap – 1460 metres
1st – IDLE SITUATION 2nd – SAVASHA 3rd – ULTIMATE DESIGN 4th – CANDY MOMENT


COUNTRYWIDE (F. Edwards) was fractious in the barriers.

FATAL AFFAIR (App J. Kuskopf) raced wide early.

A post-race veterinary examination of STRICTLY AMAZING revealed the mare to lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G. Tsakissiris was advised that a veterinary certificate of clearance would be required before STRICTLY AMAZING was permitted to race again.
