RACE 1 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 9 STARTERS
MR. MORNINGTON was slow to begin. At the 600 metres PERFECT FORM had to be steadied when tightened for room by SPARKLE STAR which was taken in by MR. HEALEY. Jockey M Campbell explained at an Inquiry that MR. HEALEY had a tendency to hang in at that point despite his efforts. Considering all the evidence, Stewards took no further action in the matter.

RACE 2 CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 4 STARTERS
STARMASTER blundered as the gates opened and shifted out and contacted RAINCOATS.

RACE 3 3YO CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000 METRES
Following the scratching of all 3 acceptors the race abandoned.

RACE 4 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100 METRES 10 STARTERS
BOULEVARD LADY was a late scratching at 3:35 p.m. by order of Stewards acting on Veterinary advice after the mare reared in the day stalls and struck it's head. At the declaration of Correct Weight, all bets were ordered to be refunded on BOULEVARD LADY, with deductions of 10c win, and 10c place applied to all bets made above the line.
SAYID was slow to begin. Approaching the 600 metres, SAYID commended to tire, as a consequence PRINCESS RAINE which was trailing, had to be steadied off the heels of SAYID and was carried back through the field.

RACE 5 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
Jockey T Walsh replaced K Rockett of ROYAL REITA, when K Rockett was indisposed due to illness. Jockey Rockett will be required to provide a Doctor's certificate before riding again. ORLANDO blundered as the gates opened and as a result lost ground. Jockey G Kliese and Trainer G Dickson were questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ORLANDO. Jockey Kliese advised that ORLANDO had never travelled kindly in the race and was under pressure from the 600 metres. Trainer G Dickson advised that he was confident of ORLANDO' S chances in the to-day's event, and that the horse had worked well in the lead up to the race and was unable to offer any further explanation for the horses poor performance. A Veterinary examination of ORLANDO revealed no abnormalities and the gelding was sent to be swabbed.

RACE 6 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 10 STARTERS
LET IT RIDE had a tendance to hang out in running. On straightening EXPLAIN became unbalanced and shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of LET IT RIDE.

All winners and ORLANDO were sent to be swabbed,

GENERAL:
STARMASTER (Race 2) was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon at the completion of the event and was found to have a small laceration above the near side upper eyelid.
