Race 1: HINCHINBROOK SHIRE COUNCIL/STEEL PACIFIC INS. BROKERSQTIS MAIDEN PLATE– 1400m
1st –Clifford John 2nd –Zahmata Of Honour 3rd –Risky Proposition 4th –Altahlee

ROCOCO (F Edwards) was slow to begin.

On returning to scale jockey P Cullen the rider of POP SCENE reported that his mount which was having only its 4th race start today, raced greenly throughout the event.

SAVE THE PLANET (W D’Avila) raced wide throughout.

Jockey W D’Avila pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that near the 250m he permitted his mount SAVE THE PLANET to shift in when insufficiently clear of YOUNG BASIL (E Ljung) resulting in that runner clipping heels, blundering and losing ground. Jockey D’Avila’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings commencing midnight the 7th September 2013 and to expire at midnight the 14th of September 2013. In assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account Jockey D’Avila’s good record in relation to careless riding related matters.

Race 2: JOHN WHITE CRASH REPAIRS/DEVIETTI HOLDEN OPEN H’CAP – 1400 metres
1st –Mighty Mite 2nd –Vantabulous 3rd–Zahas Pride 4th–Melaina Rose

Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey W D’Avila the rider of the 4th placed horse MELAINA ROSE against the 3rd placed ZAHAS PRIDE alleging interference near the 350m . After hearing submissions from the relevant connections of both horses and viewing the available patrol films, Stewards were unable to be completely satisfied that the interference suffered to MELAINA ROSE was fully attributable to ZAHAS PRIDE. Therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s original numbers.

MIGHTY MITE (E Ljung) jumped out at the start making heavy contact with WHATZAHMATA (G Kliese).

Race 3: INGHAM FARM CENTRE/ JS & KA VENABLES PLUMBING CLASS B H’CAP 1400M
1st –Bongiorno 2nd –Cashed Up Bully 3rd –Don’t Think Do 4th –Dragon Keeper

PATTO’S GIRL (J Kuskopf) and CASHED UP BULLY (S Kaya) made contact on jumping away.

Near the 700m, GOLDEN VEIL (F Edwards) was momentarily tightened for room and forced to ease when MISS BRAVEHEART (W D’Avila) shifted in marginally.

Apprentice S Cooke pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that near the 100m he permitted his mount LITTLEMISSPREFECT to shift in when insufficiently clear of GOLDEN VEIL (F Edwards) resulting in that runner being tightened for room and forced to check. Apprentice Cooke’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings commencing midnight the 3rd September 2013 and to expire at midnight the 7th of September 2013.

Race 4: JOHN ANDREWS GRADER HIRE/DAVIS FAMILY GROUP CLASS H’CAP- 1100 metres
1st –Bighorn 2nd –Diurnal Tiger 3rd –Had a Dream 4th–Pudzianowski

M Elliott the rider of CRAIGLEA PIXIE reported to Stewards on returning to scale that his mount had a tendency to hang in during the middle stages of the event.

LEGLESIA (G Cullen) raced wide for the majority of the event.

JEWEL OF MARKANE (P Cullen) raced ungenerously whilst being restrained near the 700m.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ERNEST ALBERT apprentice E Ljung reported to Stewards that in her opinion, ERNEST ALBERT, which was having its first start back after a spell today, was not suited by being unable to maintain the leading position today, as the geldings best performances are when able to obtain the leading position. Apprentice Ljung further added that the gelding travelled well throughout the event however when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to run as she expected.

Race 5:COSCER FINANCIAL PROFESSIONALS INGHAM GOLD CUP BENCHAMRK 65 H’CAP – 2000 metres
1st –Blast Out Of Here 2nd –Kerchings 3rd –Hittamahottamus 4th –Zahmatas Adjourned

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards considered an application by Jockey I Toward to have PRINCE OF SONG declared a non-runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start. After hearing submissions from Jockey Toward and viewing the available patrol films, Stewards found that as the start was effected PRINCE OF SONG reared and lost considerable ground. As Stewards were satisfied that the actions of PRINCE OF SONG itself were the sole reason for the horse missing the start, they declared PRINCE OF SONG a starter and therefore correct weight was declared on the judge’s original numbers.

Jockey P Cullen was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount FESTIVAL BALLET to shift in when insufficiently clear of HITTAMAHOTTAMUS (T Chambers) resulting in that runner being tightened for room and forced to check. Jockey Cullen’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings commencing midnight the 31st August 2013 and to expire at midnight the 6th of September 2013. In assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Cullen’s good record in relation to careless riding related matters.
