INNISFAIL TURF CLUB INC STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 22ND NOVEMBER 2003

STEWARDS PANEL: W Birch (Chairman) R Smith

WEATHER – Fine TRACK:- Good RAIL – True

RACE 1: Maiden Plate - 900 Metres – 9 Starters
JUST ANOTHER HERO was declared a late scratching at 1:30pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice when that horse became fractious in the barrier stalls. BALLY BRIANNA hung out throughout the event.
On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all monies invested on JUST ANOTHER HERO to be refunded and deductions of 17 cents on the win value of the ticket and 15 cents on the place value of the ticket applied. R Hillier trainer of JUST ANOTHER HERO was advised the gelding must obtain a further two barrier certificates prior to its next race start. T Crossland trainer of BALLY BRIANNA which proved difficult to load was advised the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate before its next race start.

RACE 2: Weight For Age – 1100 Metres – 10 Starters
CRAFTY LAD hung out from a point leaving the 800 metres. T Kowald rider of CITY SON lost the use of his whip over the concluding stages.

RACE 3: Class B Hcp – 1100 Metres – 12 Starters
ASTRAEUS was declared a late scratching at 2.50pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice when that horse became fractious in the barrier stalls.
AIR TURBULENCE which dislodged its rider behind the barrier stalls and galloped for some distance was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and past fit to start. Passing the 900 metres SNAADEE WARRIOR (F Edwards) commenced to race fiercly and improved up on to the heels of SIR CELESTIAL (W Kenning). When being restrained by its rider F Edwards SNAADEE WARRIOR shifted in resulting in FRISKY SPRINGS (M Elliot) having to be checked when taken in on to the running rail. DOC HOLLYWOOD (T Kowald) which was following was obliged to shift out to avoid that runners heels and as a result tightened the running of ROSE OF ROYALTY (J Lewis). W Kenning rider of SIR CELESTIAL reported his saddle shifted in the middle stages which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all monies invested on ASTRAEUS to be refunded and deductions of 6 cents on the win value of the ticket and 7 cents on the place value of the ticket applied. As a result of injuries suffered ASTRAEUS was euthansed on humane grounds.

RACE 4: Class Four Hcp – 1200 Metres – 5 Starters
No racing incidents.

RACE 5: Class Six Hcp – 1500 Metres – 8 Starters
Passing the 200 metres SUGAR SHAKER (D Crossland) shifted in taking VEELA (P D’Addona) in on to the hindquarters of SEMI PROMISE (R Bellert) and having to be steadied. D Crossland rider of SUGAR SHAKER was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
