Race 1: Family Fun Day 1st January Class B Handicap – 1500M

SAVE THE PLANET (W. D’Avila) had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the race.
SAVE THE PLANET (W. D’Avila) had a tendency to hang out over the concluding stages of the race.
Stewards questioned G.. Kliese (MASTER INVADER) in relation to his riding tactics over the concluding stages of the race despite the horse winning the race. Jockey Kliese explained that he was reluctant to ride the horse hard out to the line as the horse will fail to run on. Rather than ride the house out with the whip, Jockey Kliese stated he urged the horse forward hands only and no whip. Jockey Kliese explanation was noted.
W. D’Avila (SAVE THE PLANET) was dislodged after the running of the race and required ambulance attention to his toe on his right foot.
Race 2: Century Cranes Maiden Plate – 1200M
1st: Hidden Manner 2nd: Grey Ash 3rd: Rock Melon 4th: Fresh Blood
GREY ASH (W. D’Avila) jumped in at the start and HIDDEN MANNER (K. Stone) jumped out causing FRESH BLOOD (G. Kliese) inconvenience between both horses.
Approaching the 650m mark LETS POCKET (M. Atkinson) had a tendency to over race when the rider attempted to settle the horse.
HIDDEN MANNER (K. Stone) had a tendency to race erratic over the concluding stages of the race shifting in and out.
Race 3: Fred’s Parcel Transport Class 2 Handicap – 1200M
Ist Thirty Three Large 2nd: Vaulting Queen 3rd: Prowler 4th: Gwennie
PLAY A KING was a late scratching at 08.54 due to no rider being available for the horse.
MR GIFFORD (M. Atkinson) was very slow into stride at the start. Jockey M. Atkinson explained that the horse did not want to go forward despite his efforts to do so.
Race 4: Jack Wilson Memorial Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1100M
1st Cyclone Larry 2nd: Breakers Path 3rd: Pacific Highway 4th: Camphore
OTAGO (M. Atkinson) reared and was slow into stride as the start was effected.
PACIFIC HIGHWAY (W. D’avila) jumped awkwardly as the gate opened.
Jockey S. Kaya (MISS RUBINSTEIN) reported after the race that his mount got its tongue over the bit at the 600m point. Connections were advised to take the necessary measures to prevent a reoccurrence of same.
