Race 1: Ready Set Race Maiden Plate – 900 metres:
1st – SINGCIELO 2nd – LOVE YA STYLE 3rd – SHE CAN TWIST 4th – SILVER STAR
SILVER STAR – Knuckled on jumping away. Near the 200 metres was disappointed for run between two runners both of which shifted.
JUMBO RUMBO – Forced to race three wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout the home straight.
WANGAN EXPRESS – Had a tendency to lay in throughout the home straight.
Race 2: Innisfail Annuals 18TH October Open Handicap – 1100 metres:
1st – BESIEGED 2nd – DOYADEAL 3rd – BAR ATTACK 4th – THIRTY THREE LARGE
RATTUS CONATUS – An inquiry into apprentice N. Yadi falling near the 800 metres was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Apprentice Yadi was stood down for the remainder of the meeting with suspected bruising to his left shoulder.
MY NAME IS EARL – Was slow to begin. Leaving the 250 metres was continually bumped for a short distance by the riderless horse.
Race 3: Racing Queensland Benchmark 60 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – ZATSACAT 2nd – GLADIUS 3rd – LIDEEM 4th – CASHED UP BULLY
As there were no other apprentice riders available to replace the injured N. Yardi who fell in race three, jockey J. Felix became the replacement rider for STRICTLY MAGIC.
SPEED DRAGON – Was slow to begin.
STRICTLY MAGIC – When questioned as to the disappointing performance, jockey J. Felix stated that the gelding travelled well with cover in the early stages but when placed under pressure leaving the 500 metres responded only fairly to his riding and proved disappointing. A post – race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind. Trainer was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary certificate of clearance before being permitted to start again.
Race 4: Cassowary Coast Regional Council Class 3 Plate – 1500 metres:
1st – KATTER 2nd – JORDAN 3rd – LIVINGSTON 4th – FASCIA
RACING IN THE WIND – Was a late withdrawal at 2:40pm by order of the Stewards as there was no rider available.
JORDAN – Slow to begin.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by W. D’Avila, rider of JORDAN, against KATTER being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, it was established that leaving the 100 metres KATTER shifted out towards JORDAN however did not impede on that horses running therefore the protest was subsequently dismissed and correct weight was declared on the numbers as semaphored.
DANZIG KING – On returning to scale Apprentice reported that on pulling up the gelding felt scratchy in its action. A post – race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
