WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 6M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: GENERAL NEDIYM H'CAP - 809M.
Due to transportation problems, M. Bennett failed to arrive on course and was replaced by J. Taylor.
JUMMRIE was slow to begin.
As J. Warrington was indisposed, J. Hoopert was substituted as the rider of CANNONBALL JACK.
ROMANTIC BAY jumped awkwardly.
DON'T TELL SEAN was inclined to hang in throughout the race.
RACE 2: NEDIYM H'CAP - 1000M.
Trainer N. Flouskos was fined $50 for presenting DETECT with incorrect gear.
Approaching the 800m., SHADIYM shifted in, taking WISH LIST in on to LUK KAI LUK, which had to be steadied. Shortly after, LUK KAI LUK shifted out and made contact with NERVES OF STEEL on 2 occasions.
Nearing the home turn, JUST A PRINCESS was held up for clear running and had to be steadied behind the tiring DETECT.
LUK KAI LUK was inclined to hang in from the 200m. until the finish line, placing A. Merritt at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
RACE 3: SNAPPY LANDING H'CAP - 1000M.
As M. Carson was injured at the Eagle Farm meeting on 26 September, J. Byrne was substituted as the rider of HOLLY'S SHADOW and A. Parramore as the rider of GRAND BATAAN (Race 4).
DAZZER BOY jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the home turn, GRANDE ARROW was inclined to hang out. Shortly after, MIDNIGHT JASS shifted out and made contact with FAIRY MOON.
FAIRY MOON was forced to race wide for a major portion of the race.
CANADA COUNTY was inclined to lay in after passing the 200m., placing M. Rodd at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
When questioned regarding the racing manners of HOLLY'S SHADOW, J. Byrne stated that after leaving the 800m., the gelding was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of YEATSON LEE and then commenced to race greenly for the remainder of the race.
RACE 4: GLENGARRY RACING CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.
As M. Bennett was indisposed, S. Galloway was substituted as the rider of TYLER.
No racing incidents.
RACE 5: BALLYMORE THOROUGHBREDS H'CAP - 1350M.
On jumping away, IMMILUSTIG and PAGE AGAIN came together.
RACE 6: RODEO RENTALS H'CAP - 1684M.
Following his ride in race 5, J. Byrne was examined by the club's doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. M. Pelling was substituted as the rider of AWESOME EDGE, and R. Goltz as the rider of CONSTANTINE (Race 7).
MAORI GOLD shifted out on jumping away, taking CERTAIN SOUND out on to the hind quarters of AWESOME EDGE.
MUSICAL TOTE cast is near fore plate in running.
RACE 7: GLENGARRY STUD H'CAP - 1200M.
As K. Waller was to be overweight, K. Pope was substituted as the rider of EDUARDO. K. Waller was fined $50.
FLY BUYS jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, PRIDE OF THE TURF shifted in and made contact with SPENBAR SECRET.
Near the 900m., EDUARDO had to be steadied off the heels of SPENBAR SECRET, which was taken in by RIKISHI, which in turn hung in and away from BALLN LAD.
Passing the 800m. EDUARDO hung out despite the efforts of its rider.
At the 400m., SPENBAR SECRET had to be eased off the heels of tiring DEUXTEMPS.
RACE 8: AUTO ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTORS H'CAP - 1200M.
AGNESHKA jumped inwards at the start, making contact with JUST SENSATIONAL.
TYPHOON JO was slow to begin.
TYPHOON JO, which performed poorly, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the mare had an irregular heart beat. Following this advice, TYPHOON JO will be required to undergo an ECG and must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.
G. Geran, rider of AGNESHKA, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 1100m. when insufficiently clear of DINNYHAYSER, which had to be steadied and shifted in on to CERTIFICATION and TYPHOON JO, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced and having to be steadied.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of EVERY INTENTION, trainer P. Duff indicated he had varied the mare's training program to include beach work and he felt that, combined with the addition of blinkers, may have had some bearing on the horse's performance.
