IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.2.8.01

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr R. Sanders Chairman); Mr A. Reardon; Mr J. Hackett; Mr J. Williamson (Cadet).


WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 6M ALL TRACK


RACE 1: IPSWICH KNIGHTS SOCCER CLUB H'CAP - 1100M.

Trainer I. O'Neill was fined $50 for failing to lodge a correct stable return for NAPOLEON'S CURSE.

EAST HENDRED jumped away awkwardly.

MR. POPPINS began awkwardly and made contact with THUNDER HAWK.

Rounding the home turn, THUNDER HAWK shifted in and brushed the running rail.

A veterinary examination of ATACAMA failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken.


RACE 2: SUNSCAPE LANDSCAPING H'CAP - 1100M.

On jumping away, DOUBLE STRAND was hampered between WAWEE and ULTRA MODERN, which shifted out.

BLACK HULA jumped outwards at the start, inconveniencing ANXIOUS.


RACE 3: KEN MCLEAN TILING H'CAP - 1200M.

As D. Wheeler was indisposed, M. Rodd was substituted as the rider of MURRIAH, and R. Pittman as the rider of FLAMING PRINCE (Race 6).

Trainer D. Gollan was fined $25 for presenting CAWDOR WARRIOR to the enclosure without blinkers.

BATTER UP was hampered on jumped away between BROTHER LEO and CAWDOR WARRIOR, both of which shifted ground.

MY REDMAN was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, MASTER MEDES and NOBLE DISTINCTION made contact.

Near the 900m., BROTHER LEO made contact with the running rail.

R. Morris, rider of BROTHER LEO, accidentally dropped his whip near the 400m..

From after passing the 150m., CAWDOR WARRIOR was inclined to lay in under pressure, and near the winning post had to be steadied off the heels of BATTER UP.

Near the 50m., CALL UP shifted out and made contact with MASTER MEDES.

RACE 4: H.A. MANUFACTURERS H'CAP - 1666M.

LIMERICK LAD stood flatfooted at the start, losing considerable ground. Trainer M. Hicks was advised that LIMERICK LAD would be required to pass a barrier test prior to its next race start.

LINDA LUSH LIPS jumped outwards at the start and made contact with MOROCCAN.

When questioned, M. Pelling stated that he elected to ease MOROCCAN out of the race from the 700m. when the gelding was not travelling comfortably and he believed something may have been amiss with the horse. A veterinary examination of MOROCCAN revealed the gelding to be distressed and suffering the possible onset of a virus. Trainer B. Miller was advised that MOROCCAN would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily and pass a veterinary examination prior to its next race start.

RACE 5: N.H. DICKINSON CONSTRUCTIONS H'CAP - 2150M.

SPLENDID BABY was hampered on jumping away between MANIFEST and DASHING HERB, which shifted in.

M. Pelling, rider of MANIFEST, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in 4th.


RACE 6: W ADAMSON PLUMBING H'CAP - 1000M.

INDULGENCE, which jumped away awkwardly, had to be steadied off the heels of DIDIER.

Approaching the 800m., GNOCCHI was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of FLAMING PRINCE.

Nearing the 600m., DEFENCE CHIEF, which was inclined to overrace, had to be steadied off the heels of RETSIL.

Rounding the home turn, REGAL SIGN was inclined to hang out.



RACE 7: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE H'CAP - 1100M.

A veterinary examination of PETITE HANNA, which sustained a small laceration to the near flank en route to the track, was passed fit to start.

OZZEL was slow to begin.

Approaching the first turn, CIRCLE OF WHITE was inclined to hang out and made contact with ARROGANT GHOST.

PRAY LATER was obliged to travel wide throughout the race.

CIRCLE OF WHITE, which bled during the event, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.


RACE 8: BRANDONS ELECTRICAL H'CAP - 1200M.

DARLING AQUA, which was kicked behind the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

MISS BOUNTIFUL was slow to begin.

MISS SEQUALO jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of MAISETTE.

Near the 900m., SAW WIN had to be checked when taken in on to the hind quarters of MISS BOUNTIFUL by DARLING AQUA, which shifted in away from AWESOME SHADOW despite the efforts of its rider. ARCTIC RED, which was following, also had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SAW WIN. ARCTIC RED was then inclined to race ungenerously until near the 600m..

ZAIDEE was inclined to hang out and was retired from the race near the 700m.. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that ZAIDEE would be required to trial satisfactorily and pass a veterinary examination prior to its next race start. A veterinary examination of ZAIDEE revealed the mare had sustained a laceration to the gum.

SAW WIN was also inclined to hang out after passing the 600m. and was retired from the race near the 400m.. Trainer J. Bannon was advised that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A post race veterinary examination of SAW WIN failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Rounding the home turn, MRS. COSGROVE was inclined to hang out, forcing MISS SEQUALO wider.

MISS BOUNTIFUL was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 100m., ARCTIC RED shifted out to improve and made contact with MISS SEQUALO.


ALL WINNERS, TRIP TO TIARO, ORANJESTAD, CIRCLE OF WHITE AND ATACAMA WERE ALL SENT TO BE SWABBED.
