IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.10.4.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J. Hackett (Chairman), Mr G. Ireland, Mr C. McLune, Mr D. Hensler, Mr C. Clifford.

WEATHER - FNE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 4M. ALL TRACK

GENERAL

As M. Dracos was ill, the following riding substitutions were approved: Race 3. CREONA DARKNESS - L. Morrison. Race 4. PRECISION TIMING - M. McDonald. Race 5. CANTANTES - M. Rodd.

RACE 1: IPSWICH JETS H'CAP - 1200M.\

MARY JO and ROCKAHULA were slow to begin.

NORTHERN CENT and DREAM TRAP both had difficulty obtaining clear running over the latter stages of the race.

Near the finish line, MARY JO had to be eased away from the heels of SKY JINKS.


RACE 2: MARK BOETTCHER'S IPSWICH WIDE REALITY H'CAP - 1666M.

ANCORA FILA jumped awkwardly.

SHAREEF ROCKET was slow to begin.

VANILLA BEAN hung out leaving the 600m. and continued to do so, running wide on the home turn. VANILLA BEAN was declared ineligible to race until the gelding trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.


RACE 3: PAT SHEPHERDSON INSURANCE SERVICES H'CAP - 1350M.

BULL POWER blundered badly, almost dislodging its rider at the start.

BOLD TYCOON reared on jumping away, losing ground at the start.

DANISKY and CREONA DARKNESS made contact shortly after the start.

Passing the 800m., BOLD TYCOON shifted out and brushed IT'S A GUN.

Approaching the home turn, IT'S A GUN was momentarily tightened for room between BOLD TYCOON and DANISKY when both horses shifted ground marginally.

IT'S A GUN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight and until inside the 100m..

Shortly after leaving the 200m., THE MOSSY BANK KID shifted in momentarily hampering OLD FAITHFUL.

Near the finish line, EVIL DEED shifted out, taking CREONA DARKNESS out on to THE MOSSY BANK KID.

BULL POWER, which blundered badly at the start, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race, however at the time of examination no abnormality was detected.

A veterinary examination of THE MOSSY BANK KID following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 4: NETWORK VIDEO BOOVAL H'CAP - 1200M.

KING'S AURA jumped inwards at the start and brushed STOLL MOSS.

Approaching the 800m., CANADIAN BUNNY blundered.

JEREZ, which suffered a bleeding attack during the race, compounded badly on straightening and was retired from the race. In accordance with the rules, JEREZ was declared ineligible to race for a period of 3 months as this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled. A swab sample was taken from JEREZ.


RACE 5: IPSWICH CITY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

SLULINE, which was inclined to race ungenerously and lay out near the 600m., struck the heels of SRIMATHI and blundered.

Passing the 600m., BRAVE GENTLEMAN was momentarily tightened by CARISSIMA, which shifted in slightly.

Trainer I. O'Neill and jockey G. Duffy were questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of PEDRO'S TYCOON, which after racing outside the leader did not respond when put under pressure on straightening and finished near the rear of the field. G. Duffy explained that the horse was inclined to overrace in the early stages and he had some difficulty getting the horse to settle, however he was disappointed that the horse did not respond to his riding when asked for an effort on straightening. Trainer I. O'Neill expressed his disappointment in the horse's performance and felt that the gelding may not have appreciated racing in blinkers today as it may have had an effect on the horse overracing. Mr O'Neill further added that he intended to have pathology tests carried out on the horse and he was requested to notify stewards of anything that might be found to be abnormal that may have had an effect on the performance. A veterinary examination of PEDRO'S TYCOON subsequent to the race revealed that horse had sustained abrasions to both hind bumpers and was in a distressed state. A swab sample was taken from PEDRO'S TYCOON.


RACE 6: STAR TAVERN H'CAP - 1000M.

SHAROU jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making solid contact with SAM'S APPEAL.

After travelling a short distance, OUR LURE was tightened between PEDRO'S EXPRESS and CIRCLE OF WHITE, which shifted out.

Rounding the first turn, OUR LURE got its head up and was inclined to overrace.

CIRCLE OF WHITE was inclined to lay out rounding the first turn and also on the home turn.



RACE 7:RACEVIEW TAVERN H'CAP - 1100M.

TELE SERIES was a little slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SWIRLING STAR shifted out abruptly, crowding NYLA MOA and CROWN HEIR on to BAA HA.

Leaving the 1000m., ANOTHER JAZZY commenced to overrace for some distance, and after passing the 800m., had to be checked off the heels of WEE BONNY LASS.

Near the 200m., PENNY DROPS had to be eased away from the heels of TELE SERIES, which shifted out to improve.

RACE 8: BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 2150M.

K. Pope was notified late as the rider of MAGNETIC MAYOR. The connections will be interviewed regarding this matter.

TOSSALINA jumped awkwardly, shifted out and brushed LET'S RAW.

Near the 500m., MAKES ME DIZZY, when attempting to move away from the rails and had to be checked off the heels of MAGNETIC MAYOR and BIG TIME ALLY and as a consequence lost ground at this point.

Approaching the 400m., GALAXY FIGHTER raced in restricted room between SPEEDITO and PRINCESS MELINA, which shifted out slighlty.

G. Lynch, rider of TONDELAYO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he directed his mount out near the 400m. around the heels of MAGNETIC MAYOR when insufficiently clear of PRINCESS MELINA, causing PRINCESS MELINA to be severely checked and taken out on to GALAXY FIGHTER, which was also severely checked. G. Lynch was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 12 meetings, to commence at midnight, 13 April, and to expire at midnight, 3 May 2002.
