WEATHER - OVERCAST/SHOWERS TRACK - DEAD RAIL - 8M. ALL TRACK

FROM BTC MEETING, 27.4.02

Trainer W. Tipper was fined $200 for failing to withdraw THERMOPYLAE by the prescribed time. Rule AR 114(c).

GENERAL: Apprentice S. McLean was reprimanded for failing to present his apprentice wins book.


RACE 1: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE H'CAP - 1100M.

IT'S ONLY MONEY and ROSE OF ROYALTY came together at the start.

A short distance later, ROSE OF ROYALTY was further hampered by JESTER FLIGHT, which was taken in momentarily by PICCOLO PLAYER.

DANASTAR jumped awkwardly, and shortly after the start was tightened for room between TRAVEL AFAR and SPECTACULAR DANCER, which taken out by CORINDI GRACE.

ROSE OF ROYALTY raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Shortly after straightening, SPECTACULAR DANCER shifted out and made contact with PICCOLO PLAYER.

Close to the finish line, LOCHRAE PRINCESS shifted out abruptly when placed under pressure.


RACE 2: PAT SHEPHERDSON INSURANCE SERVICES H'CAP - 1700M.

Passing the 1000m., the saddle shifted forward on KINGCIDON, placing its rider, A. Best, at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of EVIL DEED, M. Lister stated that he was disappointed with the performance bearing in mind at the gelding's two previous starts the horse had been very consistent and had run on strongly from back in the field on both occasions. He added that today EVIL DEED never travelled well and failed to respond to his riding in the early stages of the straight, which resulted in him easing the horse over the concluding stages of the race. A veterinary examination of of EVIL DEED failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 3: MARK BOETTCHER'S IPSWICH WIDE REALTY H'CAP - 1350M.

D.Craven was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 1 and stood down from his engagement on PUISSARK. M. Rodd was substituted as the rider of that mare.

As S. Katsidis was to be overweight, K. Pope was substituted as the rider of NEARLY A DANE. S. Katsidis was fined $50.

MALABAR was slow to begin.

Passing the 800m., MOON PIXIE, BLUE AZZETTA and PUISSARK were all tightened for room momentarily by BLACKBAN, which shifted in.

Rounding the home turn, BLUE AZZETTA shifted in and bumped MOON PIXIE on a number of occasions, which resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced.

Shortly after straightening, MOON PIXIE was briefly hampered when attempting a run to the inside of EL SALADIN.

Approaching the 400m., NO TRESPASSING was held up for some distance behind the tiring EL SALADIN.

MALABAR ran wide making the home turn.

D. Nikolic, rider of BLACKBAN, was cautioned for permitting his mount to shift out near the 200m. when not fully clear of NO TRESPASSING, which had to be steadied.


RACE 4: MCDONALD'S MCCHICKEN BURGER - 1200M.

W. Moore was examined by the club's doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. B. Swanton was substituted as the rider of DR CILENTO, and J. Taylor as the rider of THERMOPYLAE in race 8.

BRANAHDAN was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.


RACE 5: MCDONALD'S BIG MAC SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M.

GUNGADIN was a late scratching at 9.05 a.m. on veterinary advice.

After dislodging S. Galloway when proceeding to the barriers, MURKY then made heavy contact with the running rail. MURKY was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found to be sore in the off fore leg. MURKY was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 2.51 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on MURKY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

STAR OF ECHO and ELUSIVE DIAMOND was slow to begin.

DA VANTI and FAIR RALEIGH made heavy contact on jumping away.

Approaching the 800., STAR OF ECHO shifted out to avoid the heels of HIGHLAND STORM, which had commenced to hang out slightly, and in doing so made heavy contact with ROIALTE, taking that horse wider on the track. ROIALTE then commenced to race ungenerously for some distance.

When placed under pressure shortly after entering the straight, HIGHLAND STORM hung out.


RACE 6: MCDONALD'S FILLET-O'FISH H'CAP - 1020M.

Due to transport difficulties, JIMMIE'S GIRL was declared a late scratching at 1.05 p.m...

BORDEAUX HOPPER was slow to begin.

G. Colless reported he was of the opinion something was amiss with EL THAM. A veterinary examination of EL THAM failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 7: MCDONALD'S QUARTER POUNDER H'CAP - 1520M.

Trainer J. Hawkes was fined $50 for the ineligible nomination of REVOLTING for this Class 2 event when ineligible..

PEDRO'S SUPREME shifted out abruptly at the start, making heavy contact with A LOT OF CLASS.

LOVE AND SCANDAL was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1400m., ZEE shifted in, resulting in A LOT OF CLASS, which had improved quickly, being taken in, making contact with LOVE AND SCANDAL, which brushed the running rail. J. Taylor, rider of ZEE, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Near the 200m., LOVE AND SCANDAL, after improving quickly onto the heels of MAGRITTE, shifted out abruptly, taking ZEE wider on the track. As a consequence, CROCKETT, which was following, had to be momentarily steadied.

RACE 8: MCDONALD'S CHEESE BURGER H'CAP - 1350M.

AGAIN A GAIN shifted out at the start, making heavy contact with BILLY CART HILL.

DICEY LADY was slow to begin.

Passing the 800m., OUR DONNY BOY had to be steadied off the heels of PACHINKO after improving up on to the heels of that filly.

S. Katsidis, rider of PACHINKO, accidentally dropped his whip near the 500m..

THERMOPYLAE raced wide throughout the event.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
