STEWARDS PANEL: Mr C. Clifford (Chairman), Mr A. Reardon, Mr J. Hackett, D. Hensler, Mr W. Birch, Mr C. Waller (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 3M. ALL TRACK

GENERAL: FROM QTC MEETING, 22.11.03

Stable foreperson Mr B. Pearson pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under AR 175(q), in that he made improper comments to jockey M. Rodd in the jockeys' room after M. Rodd had ridden in the Queensland Cup. B. Pearson was fined $200.

As B. Stewart and S. Apthorpe were indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved: B. Stewart: Race 4. SPIRIT OF KENTUCKY - A. Erhart. Race 8. DANEWIN BEAUTY - M. Rodd. Race 9. BROPHY - S. Katsidis. S. Apthorpe: Race 9. CHARIOT PIPER - M. Cullen.

Bookmakers clerk C. O'Rourke pleaded guilty to a charge under Local rule 118A, in that he used a mobile phone whilst working as a clerk for bookmaker D. O'Rourke. C. O'Rourke was fined the sum of $200.

RACE 1: MIGHTY KINGDOM QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.

ESCUTCHEONS jumped away awkwardly and made contact with PICARDI RUN.

After travelling a short distance, ESCUTCHEONS again made contact with PICARDI RUN, resulting in PICARDI RUN having to be steadied off the heels of RATE OF KNOTS.

On pulling up after the winning post, Z. Purton was dislodged from PICARDI RUN. Z. Purton was examined by the club's doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.


RACE 2: MR MAGIC QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.

IVOR THE GREAT was slow to begin.

From the 300m. to the 200m., REGINA'S BEST was held up for clear running between RIGEL KENT and the tiring MISS JOKER.


RACE 3: ATROPINE QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.

GO ERIN and SWEET SACHET were slow to jump.

Approaching the first turn, ANYWAYS LUCY shifted in abruptly and had to be steadied off the heels of REGAL EVENT.

Between the 800m. and 600m. SLIP ALONG dipped on 3 occasions of its own accord.

Approaching the home turn, when racing greenly, ANYWAYS LUCY shifted out and made contact with SLIP ALONG, forcing SLIP ALONG out on to GO ERIN.

Both ANYWAYS LUCY and REGAL EVENT had a tendency to race greenly in the straight.

Stewards questioned jockey Z. Purton in regard to the disappointing performance of MISS DISCRETION. Z. Purton explained that the filly was never on the bit throughout the event and also raced greenly. He also stated that MISS DISCRETION may have resented racing between runners. A veterinary examination of MISS DISCRETION following the event revealed mild lameness in the off fore and near hind leg. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for MISS DISCRETION prior to its next race start.


RACE 4: SO DANDY PLATE

Correct weight was delayed to enable R. Crilley, rider of the 2nd placegetter, SHOW POKER, to have the opportunity to view the photo finish result.

KING HARRY, which became casts in the barrier stalls, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.47 p.m.. Following the event, all monies invested on KING HARRY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer J. Fitzgerald was advised that a warning was being placed on KING HARRY regarding its barrier manners.

Trainer R. Jackson was advised that a warning was being placed on THE POSTMASTER, which proved difficult to load.

THE POSTMASTER jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with MICK'S TITLE.

SPIRIT OF KENTUCKY was hampered on jumping away between MISS GOODY GOODY and LATEEN.

ADMIRING CHOICE raced greenly in the middle stages.

Stewards questioned D. Gay and trainer B. Allen in regards to the performance of CENTUZA BOY today. D. Gay stated that the gelding did not feel comfortable throughout the event, and that CENTUZA BOY commenced to hang out passing the 500m. and continued to do so, resulting in D. Gay easing his mount out of the race. A veterinary examination of CENTUZA BOY failed to reveal any abnormality. B. Allen was advised that CENTUZA BOY must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.


RACE 5: FINAL AFFAIR H'CAP - 1350M.

COSTA I SAID SO jumped away awkwardly.

COSTA I SAID SO had a tendency to overrace in the early stages of the event.

Approaching the home turn, SHANZIE shifted out to improve and made contact with the tiring PEDRO HENRY.

OBE WAN KENOBI was held up for clear running from the 200m. until the finish line.

RACE 6: JAMES TRADITION H'CAP - 1350M.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DOONAN DANCER, G Geran stated that the horse had a tendency to hang out from the 600m. to the 400m., and he was of the opinion that the horse had gone amiss. Trainer B. Costello could offer no excuse for today's performance. DOONAN DANCER was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported. B. Costello was advised that DOONAN DANCER must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A swab sample was taken from DOONAN DANCER.


RACE 7: BANK COIN H'CAP - 1666M.

PEDRO'S POWER was slow to jump.

Approaching the first turn, CHARVILLA, when being restrained, had to be eased when KING LEO shifted in. M. Bennett, rider of KING LEO, was advised to exercise greater care in future.

Nearing the 400m., PEDRO'S POWER had to be checked off the heels of the tiring FIERY ASPECT and shifted back in and made contact with PERFECT STING.


RACE 8: ROBIAN STEEL H'CAP - 1000M.

For some distance passing the 600m., MUSTANG MAGIC had to be restrained of the heels of MISTER DE BALI, and approaching the 400m. made contact with the running rail.

Approaching the home turn, GILDED TIARA shifted out to improve, taking DEVONPORT wider on the track.

Passing the 200m., DANEWIN BEAUTY shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with EXEMPLA, which had to alter course.


RACE 9: LIGHTNING BEND H'CAP - 2150M.

Trainer B. Sinclair was fined $100 for failing to scratch CHALLONER by the prescribed time. Subsequently, CHALLONER was declared a late scratching at 8 a.m..

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, OUR ANGEL shifted in, making heavy contact with the running rail.

CROWN WARRIOR was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

R. Goltz, rider of HI KEA, reported his saddle shifted passing the 1600m..

COACH'S BLAST had to be checked off the heels of RACE TO SPACE, which commenced to tire near the 600m., resulting in COACH'S BLAST shifted in and making contact with EARLSTOUN GRACE, which became unbalanced. After this incident, COACH'S BLAST was held up for clear running for some distance.



ALL WINNERS AND DOONAN DANCER WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
