GENERAL: As D. Gay and D. Tanti were indisposed through illness, and K. Bank through injury, they were replaced as follows.

RACE 1: www.skychannel.com.au H'CAP - 1300m.
BUNDEENA LADY, which became cast in the barriers, was withdrawn on veterinary advise at 11.14 a.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on BUNDEENA LADY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer A Cowell was advised that he must obtain a further barrier test certificate for the filly prior to racing again.
LANDSPEEDER was slow to begin.
A short distance after the start, BOONAH GOLD shifted out and bumped STOOD UP.
MOSHI MOSHI shifted considerable ground outwards in the straight when placed under pressure.
RACE 2: IPSWICH JUNIOR BASKETBALL H'CAP - 800M.
Stewards permitted apprentice A. Ware to claim 2 kilograms of her 3 kilogram allowance on SPECIAL LYRIC. Permission was granted as apprentice Ware had only just returned from a recent injury. However she was nonetheless reprimanded and advised that she must endeavor to claim her full allowance in future.
BEAGLE and IRGUN EXPRESS were slow to begin.
KANETOSHI MILLIONS jumped inwards and brushed DUMP 'N' BURN at the start.
SPECIAL LYRIC jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, SPANDANGLE shifted in and bumped QUICKLO, which then had to be steadied off the heels of MISS JOKER, which at the same stage shifted out slightly.
Leaving the 750m., SPANGLE had to be steadied off the heels of QUICKLO after being taken in by ISLAND ANNA, which was in turn pressured by MURPHY'S REPLY.
Approaching the 600m., DUMP 'N' BURN shifted in and away from KANETOSHI MILLIONS, taking MURPHY'S REPLY in on to BEAGLE, which had to be steadied.
AL'S ANGLE raced wide throughout the race.
BEAGLE lost its off fore plate in running.
RACE 3: BROTHERS BASKTBALL CLUB H'CAP - 800M.
The start was delayed when BLACK SUIT became fractious in the barriers. BLACK SUIT was subsequently passed fit to start by the club's veterinary surgeon. G. Geran, who struck his knee in this incident, was also cleared to ride by the ambulance officers.
JULIUS STRANGEPORK was slow to begin.
MIKDAR jumped away awkwardly.
LIBRE PISTE jumped outwards at the start and made heavy contact with NASARLO.
BAYETE raced wide throughout.
At the request of trainer B. Bowditch, the club's veterinary surgeon examined MIKDAR after the horse sustained abrasions to both hind legs en route to the course. The filly was subsequently passed fit to start.
RACE 4: PIT STOP AIR CONITIONING H'CAP - 1100M.
A. Kennedy was initially declared as the rider of SKY TIME but was unable to take fulfil this engagement due to being overweight. As this horse was 5th emergency, and bearing in mind that he had only been declared as the rider of SKY TIME this morning, stewards took no action against A. Kennedy. G. Baker was subsequently substituted as the rider of SKY TIME.
POWER LION was slow to begin.
FAIR EGO jumped awkwardly.
MISTER AJAX jumped outwards at the start and brushed FLOOR BOARDS.
Over the concluding stages, ASTRONICUS had to be checked off the heels of TREASURE SEEKER, which shifted out under pressure. POWER LION, which was racing to the outside of ASTRNICUS, contributed to this incident by shifting in marginally under pressure. M. Rodd, rider of TREASURE SEEKER, was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.
When questioned regarding his handling of POWER LION, N. Day stated that this was the first start for trainer L. Gough, and that he had been given no specific instructions other than being advised that the gelding had previously raced back in the field in its starts in Victoria. N. Day added that after being slow to begin he settled at the rear of the field, however leaving the 800m. he elected to shift to the outside of the heels of SKY TIME, which at that stage was losing ground when being steadied. He explained that this resulted in him being the widest runner on the track, so he elected to continue to push forward in order not to be held up behind other runners. N. Day further added that the gelding finished the race off strongly. N. Day's explanation was noted.
When pulling up after the winning post, M. Smith-Lester was accidentally dislodged from CLASSIC MOVE when that horse shied. As a result of this, N. Day was also accidentally dislodged from POWER LION. Both riders were examined by the ambulance officers and cleared of any injury.
A veterinary examination of TREASURE SEEKER following the event revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the near hind cannon.
Following this event, the track rating was downgraded to dead.
RACE 5: AUSSIE CAR LOANS H'CAP - 1100M.
LES COULEURS and RUGGLES came together at the start. As a result, LES COULEURS shifted in abruptly and tightened HEADQUARTERS on to the hind quarters of BELLE OF MONACO, which was then forced in and had to be steadied off the heels of MOONLIGHT EXPRESS.
SIMPLY RED jumped inwards at the start and made heavy contact with QUINN, which was tightened on to the hind quarters of BON CHAT. A short distance later, AMBOO was then tightened for room between SIMPLY RED, which had shifted out after this interference, and ADMIRAL HARRY, which jumped inwards at the start.
Shortly after the start, SIMPLY RED shifted out and tightened AMBOO on to ADMIRAL HARRY.
Apprentice T. Pannell, rider of ADMIRAL HARRY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1000m., he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear, resulting in AMBOO being taken in on to SIMPLY RED, which had to be checked after being tightened on to the hind quarters of QUINN. T. Pannell was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 1 May, and to expire at midnight, 15 May 2004.
MOONLIGHT EXPRESS was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Leaving the 600m., HEADQUARTERS raced in restricted room to the inside of MOONLIGHT EXPRESS.
DUSTWIND was obliged to race wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of MOONLIGHT EXPRESS revealed the colt to have sustained a graze to the off fore shoulder.
RACE 6: IPSWICH DAY & NIGHT CHEMIST PLATE - 1010M.
ANDROCLES jumped outwards at the start and bumped WICKED WAYS.
Rounding the first turn, BEATTIE'S VICTORY, when being steadied, shifted out and tightened TINGRI on to KIRKCALDY LASS.
Leaving the 600m., ANDROCLES shifted out, crowding WICKED WAYS on to KIRKCALDY LASS.
Shortly after entering the straight, ROYAL PASH, when attempting to improve to the outside of SILENCE RULES, made contact with BEATTIE'S VICTORY, and as a result ROYAL PASH became unbalanced.
RACE 7: SPRINGFIELD FIRST NATIONAL H'CAP - 1010M.
Stewards acceded to a request from the connections of AVON WALTZ to scratched the gelding as the track had been downgraded. Stewards withdrew AVON WALTZ at 1.07 p.m.. The connections were advised of the dead track bar which is now in place on AVON WALTZ.
A short distance after the start, BAZ ATTACK shifted in and tightened CONISTON'S WARRIOR and SPECIALLY MADE on to HOT CYMBAL.
Approaching the first turn, SPECIALLY MADE raced in restricted room to the inside of CONISTON'S WARRIOR, which was inclined to lay in and away from BAZ ATTACK.
Leaving the 800m., BAZ ATTACK had to be restrained off the heels of ODE TO THEE, which was taken in by NO AVAIL.
A veterinary examination of ODE TO THEE revealed the mare to have inflammation to the near fore fetlock and pastern.
RACE 8: CHECK AIR CONDITIONING H'CAP - 1010M.
Shortly after entering the straight, RUBI D'AMOUR shifted out under pressure and bumped IDIDIT.
M. Carson, rider of ARMIDALE HEIGHTS accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 150m..
RACE 9: BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1350M.
Stewards acceded to an application from trainer D. Gollan GUN GLORY to withdraw that gelding at 2.19 p.m. following the downgrading of the track. GUN GLORY will now incur a dead track bar.
RISING SUCCESS and I'M A CRACKER both jumped away awkwardly.
RACE 10: J W BERRY & CO H'CAP - 1350M.
MIGHTY ICON reared in the barriers prior to the start, and after undergoing a veterinary examination, the gelding was passed fit to start.
MISS SEQUALO, which had abrasions to the off hip, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon prior to the start and passed fit to start.
Approaching the 400m., TOUCH OF MOOBALL commenced to compound and received a bump from JUST CASSIDY, which improved to that runner's inside. JUNGLE TRAIL, which was following, had to be checked off the heels of TOUCH OF MOOBALL.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NORTHERN FORCE, G. McKeon stated that as the gelding did not show its customary early speed, he elected to shift from his wide position towards the fence, which positioned him back in the field. He added that NORTHERN FORCE was off the bit at the 600m. and failed to run on in the straight. He further explained that, in his opinion, the gelding did not handle the prevailing track conditions at any stage. G. McKeon's explanation was noted. A veterinary examination of of NORTHERN FORCE failed to reveal any abnormality.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
