RACE 1: QUEENSLAND TIMES H'CAP - 1666M.
Shortly after the start, ZEDSQUARE shifted out and made heavy contact with KAWENDE.
LADY ISABELLA raced ungenerously in the early stages.
Approaching the 1200m., SUNDAE JESTER commenced to race fiercely and continued to do so until after leaving the 800m..
Making the home turn, ZEDSQUARE was hampered when tightened for room between FLORIA and ENSUAVE, which shifted in.
Near the 400m., BETTER BY HARV had to be steadied off the heels of GOLD KING.
Over the concluding stages, SUNDAE JESTER shifted in, tightening the running of RAPIDASH.
RACE 2: MITSUBISHI IPSWICH DASH H'CAP - 1100M.
Trainer M. Thexton was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for PLANAGRAM by the required time.
PLANAGRAM jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 450m., RAUTAI'S WARRIOR shifted in, tightening the running of GRAMODALE GOLD, which brushed the running rail.
K. Banks, rider of PARALO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the home turn, she improved into a position where there was insufficient room between ROYAL SHIRAZ and PLANAGRAM, resulting in K. Banks having to steady her mount and shift out, causing MISTER DE BALI and KAI CHOW being forced wider on the track and CLAVIER clipping the heels of KAI CHOW and dislodging S. Galloway. K. Bank was suspended from riding in races for a period of 3 weeks, to commence at midnight, 20 June, and to expire at midnight, 11 July 2004. JUST POLITE, which was racing to the outside of CLAVIER, was hampered in this incident. Also in this incident, MISTER DE BALI shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of QUALO, which turned that horse in. S. Galloway was examined by the club's doctor and passed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements.
Making the home turn, JAMELDEN shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of CALL THE HUNTER, became unbalanced and lost ground.
GRAMODALE GOLD and CALL THE HUNTER were held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
At the 200m., QUALO shifted in abruptly under pressure, further tightening the running of MISTER DE BALI and PARALO.
RACE 3: QLD GROUP COLLINGWOOD PARK PLATE H'CAP - 1350M.
ADMIRAL SPRY was declared a late scratching at 9.30 p.m. on veterinary advice.
D. Green, rider of MY MILLIONAIRE, was charged with careless riding, in that near the 1000m. he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of HEAVENLY CRUISE, resulting in that colt clipping the heels of MY MILLIONAIRE and losing ground. After taking evidence from D. Green and C. Spry, rider of HEAVENLY CRUISE, the inquiry was adjourned to 23 June to allow D. Green to fulfil comments at Gold Coast. After this incident, HEAVENLY CRUISE raced ungenerously for the remainder of the event.
JIMIDEAN was slow to begin.
MY MILLIONAIRE shifted in abruptly on jumping away, taking VIKING GROOM in on to MAGIC PINS.
DASHING DANE jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 500m., POOP DECK PAPPY had to be steadied when tightened for room between HEAVENLY CRUISE and JIMIDEAN, which shifted out.
Inside the 200m., POOP DECK PAPPY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JIMIDEAN, which shifted in under pressure.
A veterinary examination of VIKING GROOM following the event. failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 4: SCHWEPPES T.L. COONEY H'CAP - 1350M.
G. Colless was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 3 and stood down from his engagement on KIWI SURVEILLANCE. L. Morrison was substituted as the rider of that gelding. G. Colless later advised that he was unable to fulfill his engagements on AMEX in race 6 and FOREST JIM in race 7. D. Craven and S. Katsidis were substituted as the respective riders of those horses.
UNISTAR and ST. NICCO were slow to begin.
Near the 1200m., ST NICCO had to be steadied when tightened for room by SANDY RIVER, which was taken in by MILADY MATTY.
At the 400m., KIWI SURVEILLANCE attempted to shift out to improve from behind the heels of POWER AND GOLD and in doing so made contact with MILADY MATTY.
RACE 5: HERITAGE RECRUITMENT GAI WATERHOUSE CLASSIC H'CAP - 1350M.
B. Park was permitted to ride KIND SPIRITS half a kilogram overweight.
Near the 1000m., MY CZECK CHICK was tightened for room between TA TA TATIANA and PARACA, which shifted in.
PARACA was obliged to raced wide in the early stages.
Inside the 200m., VIVID MISS shifted out and made contact with JANADI. JANADI was then tightened for room between VIVID MIS and CONTINUOUSLY.
A post race veterinary examination of CONTINUOUSLY failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 6: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE EYE LINER STAKES - 1200M.
LEVANTE blundered on jumping away.
Approaching the 800m., UNCLE SHAMOS had to be checked when tightened for room between KIDNAPPER and LA SERENADE.
In the early stages of the straight, LAMOND was held up for clear running and had to be checked off the heels of UNCLE SHAMOS.
Approaching the 200m., AMEX shifted out, taking LEVANTE out on to LAMOND, resulting in LAMOND having to be steadied off the heels of UNCLE SHAMOS. D. Craven, rider of AMEX, was cautioned in relation to this incident.
Near the 100m., LA SERAENADE was hampered when tightened for room between MESSIAEN and GWEN'S RULES, which shifted out from behind the heels of INNER CITY.
Z. Purton, rider of the winner, PROUDLY AGRO, was fined $200 for making a celebratory gesture with his whip prior to the finish line.
RACE 7: XXXX IPSWICH CUP 2150M.
As S. Seamer was indisposed, D. Craven was substituted as the rider of DIAMOND HILL.
I'M FIGHTIN was slow to begin.
DIAMOND HILL pulled hard in the early stages and had to be restrained off the heels of RAW INSTINCT making the turn out of the straight.
After leaving the 800m., DIAMOND HILL had to be checked when tightened for room between LORD ERIN and FOREST JIM, both of which shifted ground.
FOREST JIM shifted out making the home turn, forcing DIAMOND HILL wider on the track.
VICTORY RANGER was held up for clear running in the straight.
RACE 8: MCDONALD'S PROVINCIAL CUP H'CAP - 2150M.
Near the 500m., SAILOR'S LARK shifted out and hampered CAPTAIN ZIGZAG.
M. Rice, rider of AGGRO, reported that his mount raced kindly outside the leader in the early and middle stages, however when joined by SHOW MARTIAL approaching the 800m., AGGRO commenced to overrace and was beaten prior to the home turn.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
