Race 1: Sky Channel Live Racing 3yo QTIS Maiden H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Mojave Brave 2nd - Airline Express 3rd - Sex Cymbal 4th - Fragmentizer
As P. Spry was ill, G. Baker was substituted as the rider of THE OTHER WOMAN.
Approaching the 1000m., D. Griffin's (GROSVENOR GATE) foot was dislodged from his near-side iron due to the stirrup leather stretching, and then nearing the 800m., D. Griffin elected to remove his foot from the offside iron for the remainder of the race, which placed him at a disadvantage.
Rounding the home turn, HESWEEPSAWAY (D. Hawkes) was forced to ease when racing between MOJAVE BRAVE (R. McMahon) and SEX CYMBAL (J. Sharp), which shifted out.
Approaching the 100m., SYSTEMATIC LAD (M. Gray) was forced to ease from the heels of FRAGMENTIZER (J. Byrne), which was forced in by AIRLINE EXPRESS (J. McKinnon). Apprentice J. McKinnon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 2: WWW.Skychannel.com.au Maiden H'cap - 1100m.
1st - Bend A Rule 2nd - Sams Advice 3rd - Child Bride 4th - Riviera Sur Mer
FONTEYN QUEEN (G. Baker) was slow to begin, then was forced to race wide throughout.
CHILD BRIDE (M. Morris) jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
Approaching the 600m., RIVIERA SUR MER (M. Palmer), which was racing keenly, was forced to ease from heels.
Race 3: Queensland Times, Our Local News 2yo Maiden Plate - 800m.
1st - High Nines 2nd - Flight Officer 3rd - Rich Claim 4th - Full Of Zest
Trainers M. Thexton and B. Baldwin were fined $100 for failing to declare a riders for GENERAL DANZIG and SALEM'S LOT respectively by the prescribed time.
Stewards accepted trainer L. Kelly's explanation for the late declaration of rider for ILLEONE.
Trainer L. Kelly was advised that ILLEONE, which proved difficult to load, would be required to barrier test satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
SALEM'S LOT (M. Price) and EYESAGREEN were both slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, GENERAL DANZIG (D. Green) attempted to buck and shifted in abruptly, resulting in SALEM'S LOT being severely hampered. The connections of GENERAL DANZIG were advised that GENERAL DANZIG would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
Leaving the 500m., EYESAGREEN (M. Crawford) commenced to hang out and continued to do so for the remainder of the race. Trainer D. Bool was advised that a warning was being placed on EYESAGREEN.
Race 4: Our Eye Liner Function Centre Country Cup Series Class 4 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Mr Sequential 2nd - Marikal 3rd - All Energy 4th - Taabinga Lass
BRAVE GENTLEMAN (R. Pittman) was slow to begin.
TAABINGA LASS (M. Palmer) jumped awkwardly at the start, making contact with STAR OF GALAXY (R. McMahon).
Leaving the 800m., DANGEROUS HOST (S. Apthorpe), which was inclined to overrace, was forced to shift out to avoid the heels of AZZASON, resulting in DANGEROUS HOST racing wide for the remainder of the event.
Approaching the 600m., ALL ENERGY (J. Sharp) was forced to ease from the heels of DANGEROUS HOST after being taken out by TAABINGA LASS, which in turn was taken out by BRAVE GENTLEMAN.
MARIKAL (M. Morris) was inclined to hang in on to the heels of MR SEQUENTIAL (J. Byrne) leaving the 100m., resulting in M. Morris having to stop riding and straighten MARIKAL.
AZZASON (A. Parramore) was inclined to hang in throughout the race.
Race 5: Nessuno F & M Class 1 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Matinee 2nd - Brewer's Choice 3rd - Cold Spring Wine 4th - Chamber of Secrets
PREMEDITATE (M. Palmer) jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
Apprentice R. McMahon, rider of COLD SPRING WINE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 900m., he allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in BREWER'S CHOICE (S. Galvin) being taken in, tightening the running of REACTIVE DANCER (G. McKeon), resulting in REACTIVE DANCER having to be checked and lose ground. R. McMahon was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings to commence at midnight, 17 July 2005, and to expire at midnight, 28 July 2005.
A post race veterinary examination of ZARUBY failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 6: Forest Jim (NZ) C, G & Entires Class 1 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Dustwind 2nd - Zero Hero 3rd - Elysian Field 4th - Paypacket
PRIVATE FRISCO (A. Parramore) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 600m., PRIVATE FRISCO (A. Parramore), which was inclined to overrace, was forced to shift out to avoid heels and in doing so forced MICKEY MOOSE (C. Whiteley) wider on the track.
SHOCK TROOPER (J. Byrne), which was inclined to hang out throughout, shifted out approaching the 500m., hampering PRIVATE FRISCO (A. Parramore).
Leaving the 200m., MIQUELT (M. Cullen) shifted out, momentarily tightening the running of SHOCK TROOPER (J. Byrne), which was attempting to take a tight run to the inside of NASARLO (R. Pittman).
When questioned regarding the improved performance of DUSTWIND, trainer T. Hutcheson stated that at the gelding's previous start at Kilcoy on 18 June, DUSTWIND was extremely slow to begin and was then forced to race wide throughout. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 7: QRSE City Pacific Finance Class 2 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Oh Raw Oh Raw 2nd - Kerri Anne's Girl 3rd - Highland Storm 4th - Doctor Hennessy
HEIR APPARENT jumped awkwardly and in doing so jockey G. Palmer's near-side boot was knocked from the iron, which resulted in G. Palmer being dislodged down from the near-side of HEIR APPARENT.
RAPID REASON (D. Green) was forced to race wide until approaching the 900m..
Approaching the 400m., RAPID REASON and OH RAW OH RAW (K. Pope) were hampered and forced extremely wide by the riderless HEIR APPARENT. DOCTOR HENNESSY (R. McMahon), HIGHLAND STORM (M. Smith-Lester) and KERRI ANNE'S GIRL (N. Thomas), which were following, were in turn also forced very wide.
Race 8: XXXX As Good As Gold Class 3 H'cap - 2150m.
1st - Tsolias 2nd - Moon Echo 3rd - Clang Edition 4th - Flatter
As G. Palmer was injured riding in race 7, G. McKeon was substituted as the rider of NOTHIN LEICA DREAM.
STRICTLY DRY (S. Richardson) and NOTHIN LEICA DREAM (G. McKeon) were slow to begin.
G. McKeon, rider of NOTHIN LEICA DREAM, was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip during the first 200 metres of the event.
