SITAR raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.
BLAZE OF RORY and KINGS BEACH (A. Taylor) raced 3 wide throughout the event.
J. Sharp, rider of the 2nd placegetter, NAGEM, was reminded of his obligations to ride his
mounts right out to the finish line.

Race 3: Recruitment Queensland CG&E Class 1 H’cap — 1100m
1st — Heart Of The Lion 2nd — Sky Mine 3rd — Time Lion 4th — French Lord

SPEEDWAY (A. Spinks) stood flatfooted as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.
COTOPAXI (M. Carson) and FRENCH LORD (A. Taylor) were tightened for room at the start between TIME LION (J. Bowditch) and HEART OF THE LION (C. Small), which shifted in.

Leaving the 800m, FRENCH LORD (A. Taylor) improved up on to the heels of KID CREOLE (M. Radecker) and when being steadied got its head up and shifted out. FRENCH LORD was then forced to race 3 wide for the remainder of the event.

FRENCH LORD shifted out when placed under pressure in the straight.
GOLDEN ANVIL (A. Erhart) was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

Race 4: City Pacific Finance F&M Class I H’cap — 1100m
1st — Shoved Out 2nd — I do Believe 3rd — Thunder And Ice 4th - Elleandee

MENORAH (J. Bowditch), THUNDER AND ICE (S. Scriven) and IRISH JOY (A. Taylor) were tightened for room on jumping away between INSCRIBE SMYTZER (C. Eaton) and ELLEANDEE (J. Murphy), both of which shifted ground.

POM POM GIRL (M. Radecker), after being slowly away, was tightened for room shortly after the start between LITTLE CLOUD (M. Price) and STONETOWN STAR (Z. Landry), both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 10Dm, STONETOWN STAR shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip, hampering RIVIERA SUR MER.
Near the 50m, ELLEANDEE (J. Murphy) was momentarily held up and obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.

RIVIERA SUR MER (M. Palmer), POM POM GIRL and INSCRIBE SMYTZER raced wide throughout the event.
When questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics employed on IRISH JOY today, apprentice A. Taylor stated that she had been instructed to ride the filly in a forward position, which was consistent with recent starts, however she had received tightening shortly after jumping away and although she had attempted to take up a forward position, IRISH JOY was unable to do so and as a result she was obliged to restrain the filly when it became apparent that she would be forced to race wide if she continued to push forward. A. Taylor further stated that when endeavouring to obtain a position closer to the fence she had been forced to take up a position further back than she had anticipated, however felt she had no other alternative. Apprentice Taylor’s explanation was noted.

Race 5: Eye Liner Function Centre Class 2 H’cap — ‘1350m
1st — Nippon Bee 2nd — Captain Bligh 3rd — Belles Opinion 4th — Mixed Dozen

NEVADA INN (J. Bowditch) slow to begin.

Sharp) when that horse shifted in. A short distance later, MIXED DOZEN shifted in, again
placing those runners in restricted room for a short distance.
At the 900m, BARBARIAN shifted in, making contact with BELLES OPINION, which in turn shifted in, bumping CAPTAIN BLIGH.
NEVADA INN raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
NEVADA INN was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
BARBARIAN raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 6: Schweppes Class 3 Div I Plate — 2150m
1st — Rezone 2nd — Granadora 3rd — Sansaba 4th - Leverage

SANSABA (S. Drake) and GRANADORA (J. Bowditch) jumped away awkwardly.
REZONE (K. Pope) was slow to begin.

Near the 400m, CLARENDON BLUE (C. Spry) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by SANSABA, which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics employed on GRANADORA, J. Bowditch stated that he had been instructed to lead on the gelding, however after beginning slowly he was reluctant to bustle the horse forward in the early stages under his 58.5 kilograms and elected to take a sit. J. Bowditch further stated that when the pace slackened near the 1400m he was able to allow the gelding to stride forward and take up a position near the lead. Trainer G. Kennedy confirmed the instructions and advised stewards that whilst it was customary for GRANADORA to lead, he had advised J. Bowditch that in view of the 58.5 kilogram impost he was to use his discretion and take a sit if necessary. The explanation was noted.

D. Peisley, rider of BREAKING THE RULES, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out shortly after the start, taking OVERTURN (B. Pengelly) out on to DICKTATOR (P. Hammersley), which in turn shifted out, resulting in AUK LANDING (K. Yoshida) having to be steadied when taken across the heels of GREENLAW.

S. Drake, rider of HEY LORENZO, was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in approaching the winning post on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of BREAKING THE RULES (D. Peisley), resulting in that horse having to be steadied.
CROMLA (M. Hughes) raced wide in the early stages.
