As L. Cassidy was injured, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
Race 1: www.getintoracing.com.au QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate - 800m
1st – Startling Pleasure 2nd – Spinelli 3rd – Ivan’s Choice 4th - Choices
TOUCH OF SPICE was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to race.
IVAN’S CHOICE, which reared in the barriers, getting its near foreleg over the side partition, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
IVAN’S CHOICE (B. Evans) jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.
Near the 500m, APRIL FOLLY (I. French), which had been inclined to race greenly, shifted out from behind the heels of CHOICES (W. Clasohm) and made heavy contact with HUSSONITE (G. Geran), forcing that horse to become unbalanced and shift wider. I. French, rider of APRIL FOLLY, was severely reprimanded and advised to take greater care in similar circumstances.
STARTLING PLEASURE (R. McMahon) was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
Race 2: Back Your Own Horse With QTIS 3yo & Up Maiden H’cap - 1700
1st – Chevaux Vapeur 2nd – Raw Sienna 3rd - Strachelle 4th – Umhlanga Rocks
Trainer L. Manzelman was fined $50 for failing to ensure AUSBRED ICON was presented to the saddling enclosure on time.
STRACHELLE (D. Craven) blundered on jumping away.
RAW SIENNA (W. Clasohm) jumped inwards at the start and made heavy contact; with WARANDO STREET (B. El-Issa).
AUSBRED ICON (A. Merritt) was slow to begin.
HARD LUCK (M. Palmer) and DOONBAH GREY (T. Treichel) were tightened for room on jumping away between CHEVAUX VAPEUR (M. Hellyer), which jumped inwards, and CHRISTOPHER’S COMET (M. Speers), which made contact with STRACHELLE (J. Taylor) when that horse blundered and shifted inwards.
BISCAY’S BEST (D. Craven) and UMHLANGA ROCK (G. Baker) bumped on jumping away.
BISCAYS BEST was inclined to hang in throughout the race.
A post-race veterinary examination of WARANDO STREET, which compounded quickly over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 3: www.qtis600.com.au F&M Class 2 H’cap - 1200m
1st – Anachelle 2nd – Comatose 3rd – So Different 4th – Duntroon Dragon
Trainer G. Cornish was fined $100 for presenting SYNDICATE ROAD with incorrect gear.
SO DIFFERENT (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly and was a little slow to begin.
HIGH MUM (J. Warrington) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with SYNDICATE ROAD (S. Drake), which had been a little slow to begin.
SO DIFFERENT was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
Following the race, apprentice M. Palmer, rider of FALONTIME, reported that he felt there was something amiss with the horse A post-race veterinary examination of FALONTIME revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Connections were advised that they would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for FALONTIME prior to its next race start.
Race 4: www.skychannel.com.au 3yo & Up F&M Maiden H’cap - 1200m
1st – Rubin Jane 2nd – Little Pumpkin 3rd – Flawless 4th - Ilsenstein
Apprentice M. Abe was fined $200 for changing his riding boots after weighing out. M. Abe was also reprimanded for failing to produce a letter of authority from his master placing him in the care of trainer R. Hawkswell.
MINI MOJITO (M. Hughes) and LA MAJEUR (D. Green) were both very slow to begin.
SWEET LIZZIE (M. Abe) jumped away awkwardly, making contact with ALYSSA JEAN (P. Hammersley).
CHOISIR LA BLOND (M. Speers) was cramped for room on jumping away betwee ILSENSTEIN (T. Treichel) and RUBIN JANE (J. Wood), which jumped inwards.
Near the 700m, CHOISIR LA BLOND (M. Speers) got its head up and raced ungenerously when being checked off the heels of READ NOW GENERAL (B. El-Issa).
SWEET MAGIC (M. Hellyer) raced wide in the middle stages.
ALYSSA JEAN (P. Hammersley) was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: Recruitment Queensland 3yo & Up CG&E Maiden H’cap 0 1200m
1st – El Khartum 2nd – Je Suis Rockstar 3rd – Kerry Road 4th – Super Moon
EL KHARTUM (M. Radecker) jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.
TOPANGA (T. Treichel) was tightened for room shortly after the start betwee JE SUIS ROCKSTAR (R. Goltz) and SIXES AND SEVENS (M. Palmer), which jumped inwards.
Shortly after passing the 800m, FOUR WISE MEN (B. Payne) had to be checked when cramped for room by OUR BLUE MAIZE (M. Hughes), which was racing greenly and shifted in despite the rider’s efforts. For some distance thereafter, FOUR WISE MEN was unable to improve due to OUR BLUE MAIZE continuing to race greenly.
TOP RESOURCE (P. Hammersley) hung out badly rounding the first turn and continued to hang out throughout the race and performed poorly. A post-race veterinary examination of TOP RESOURCE failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R. Bradshaw was advised that TOP RESOURCE must trial to the stewards’ satisfaction in an official trial prior to its next race start.
SIXES AND SEVENS (M. Palmer) hung out badly rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of SIXES AND SEVENS failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised that SIXES AND SEVENS must perform satisfactoriy in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
Race 6: Channel 7 Class 3 Plate – 2200m m
1st – Siong Tee 2nd – The Big Zig 3rd – Grungle 4th - Innovator
Making the first turn, ELLA CINDERS (R. McMahon) shifted out and bumped INNOVATOR (C. Reith).
GRUNGLE (P. Hammersley) was caught wide for the majority of the event.
INNOVATOR was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and approaching the 200m was briefly impeded when cramped for room between BODY DOUBLE (S. Seamer) and the tiring GRUNGLE. A short distance later, INNOVATOR was inclined to shift out, making contact with BODY DOUBLE.
Trainer T. Crane was questioned as to the riding tactics employed by jockey M. Paget on THE BIG ZIG as opposed to the riding tactics previously adopted. Trainer T. Crane reported that as the horse could not be bustled early, he instructed M. Paget to allow the horse to settle and find its feet in the early stages, and then when the pace eased in the middle stages to proceed forward and assume a position either in or near the lead. Mr Crane indicated that these instructions were similar to those given to the horse’s previous jockey A. Spinks, however Mr Crane advised that the horse was reluctant to go forward due to the pace of the race, which was genuine. The explanation was noted.
Race 7: Queensland Times Class 1 H’cap – 1350m
1st – Mackunda 2nd – Aurelio 3rd – Golden Gleams 4th – Lucky Landing
Trainer P. Sexton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for PRINCE COCHISE by the prescribed time.
Trainer R. Bradshaw was fined $50 for failing to produce the registration papers for LEE KOVA.
LEE KOVA was declared a late scratching at the barriers on vetrinary advice at 4.06 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on LEE KOVA were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 25 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer R. Bradshaw was advised that he must provide a veterinary clerance for LEE KOVA prior to its next race start.
LUCKY LANDING (S. Apthorpe) missed the start.
HAVANISE (M. Palmer) blundered on jumping away.
IN NANGANA (D. Barron) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with PRINCE COCHISE (B. El-Issa).
Near the 1000m, CANNDIVA (R. McMahon) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GOLDEN GLEAMS (B. Evans), which was taken in by MACKUNDA (G. Baker). G. Baker, rider of MACKUNDA, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
D. Barron, rider of IN NANGANA, was reprimanded for using his whip excessively in the straight.
Race 8: XXXX As Good As Gold CG&E Class 2 H’cap - 1200m
1st – Larry’s Boy 2nd – Mossbemad 3rd – Dubbus 4th -Exertion
A warning was issued to the connections of A SECRET KEPT, which was fractious prior to jumping and missed the start. Trainer M. Price was advised that a wanring was being placed on A SECRET KEPT
BRAVE ATTEMPT (B. El-Issa) was tightened for room on jumping away between TELESTO WARRIOR (M. Hellyer), which jumped outwards.
M. Palmer, rider of EDWARD BEAR, was cautioned for using his whip on his mount when it was out of contention.
