Race 2: Stu Balls F & M Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Facebook 2nd – Cross Town Traffic 3rd – Zahnoochi 4th - Ceethesunrise

MISS ATTANAGH, which was kicked behind the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by J. Byrne, rider of the 5th placegetter, SALCANRO, against ZAHNOOCHI being declared 3rd, alleging interference near the 800m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video, stewards found that whilst ZANOOCHI (M. Speers) had shifted in passing the 800m and contributed to this incident, they were also of the opinion that MISS ATTANAGH, which was racing to the inside, had hung out at this point of the race and had also contributed to the incident, and therefore the protest was subsequently dismissed and correct weight semaphored on the Judge’s number. At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice M. Speers was reprimanded for this incident.

TELL JEAN (S. Galloway) and WHYDIDYOULEAVEME (A. Pattillo) were tightened for room at the start between FACEBOOK (S. Scriven) and ZAHNOOCHI (M. Speers), both of which shifted ground.

The saddle on BELLACIANO shifted when proceeding to the barriers, resulting in that horse having to be resaddled. As the horse was overly fractious, barrier staff were unable to resaddle the filly. As a result, BELLACIANO was declared a late scratching at 1.36 pm. Trainer G. Livermore was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare.

Trainer G. Reid was fined $50 for presenting JESTER CANNY GO to the enclosure with incorrect gear.

Shortly after the start, GALLANT HAWK overraced until leaving the 800m.

Near the 800m when the pace slackened, COCORVADA (C. Reith) commenced to overrace on the heels of PEARLY BEACH (K. Banks) and as a result shifted out, tightening both LITTLE SHREWDY (C. Whiteley) and RED CASHEL out on to the hind quarters of HUDSON GREY (S. Galloway), forcing that horse wider on the track.
