SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From SCTC 25.07.10 – Race 3: Stewards inquired into an incident near the 150m which resulted in MOUNT FREEDOM (K. Sawyers) having to be checked when tightened for room between MYSTIC DRAGON (D. Gill) and ENCINITAS (D. Craven). After taking evidence from all riders and viewing the patrol film, stewards were of the view that the incident was caused by a minor shift from MYSTIC DRAGON shifting out which resulted in MOUNT FREEDOM being tightened for room and placing pressure on the hind quarters of ENCINITAS, which shifted in as a result. Stewards severely reprimanded D. Gill under AR. 137(a) for this incident.

Race 3: D. Craven was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner on ENCINITAS on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account that D. Craven had not incurred a previous penalty under this rule.

Stewards also interviewed D. Craven as to his reasons for leaving the course without permission. After considering his submissions, stewards noted the circumstances and took no action.

From GCTC 31.07.10 – Race 2: D. Tanti was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for striking CHLOE'S DREAM with the whip in a forehand manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 8: D. Tanti was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(i) for striking TULLY ENDEAVOUR with the whip in two consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

From Eagle Farm 21.07.10 – Race 7: R. McMahon was fined $100 under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner on PABLO on 8 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 1: SKY RACING H’CAP – 1100M
1st – Marmillion 2nd – Baroque Pearl 3rd – Precious Girl 4th – Look At Ruby

GET JAZZ and HUSSMINDA (Race 7) were late scratchings at 10 a.m. Stewards intend to interview trainer R. Nicholson regarding the circumstances surrounding the late scratchings.

EVENING VISION (K. Gates) reared as the start was effected, causing both horse and rider to make heavy contact with the crossbar at the barriers, resulting in the rider becoming dislodged. Connections of EVENING VISION were advised that before the horse is permitted to race again, they must obtain two further barrier certificates for the horse, one of which must be obtained in an official barrier trial. Correct weight was delayed whilst stewards viewed the patrol film and then deemed the horse to be a starter. As K. Gates was unable to fulfil her remaining engagement, a riding replacement was made as per the Race Day Summary.

BE KIND (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.

BELMARIE (M. Wood) hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 2: CHANNEL 7 QTIS H’CAP – 800M
1st – One Moment Please 2nd – Hidden Shuffle 3rd – My Opportunity 4th – More Luck

The start of this race was delayed when J. Byrne, who was dislodged from RED TORNADO behind the barriers, was then stood on by that horse, suffering injuries to his left leg. As a result, he was unable to ride and the horse was declared a late scratching at 1.40 p.m. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on RED TORNADO be refunded, with deductions of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. As J. Byrne was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements, riding replacements were made as per the Race Day Summary.

CASA STAR (N. Thomas), JUNABEE ROAD (C. Munce), DENOUEMENT (K. James) and THAT’S HARRY (C. Priest) were all slow to begin.

MY OPPORTUNITY (K. Ashton) jumped away awkwardly and then raced greenly during the early stages.

CASA STAR, which raced ungenerously with its head in the air, improved on to heels near the 500m and had to be steadied and a short distance later shifted out forcing MISS SNITZEL (J. Wood) wider on the track. Connections were advised that a warning was being placed on CASA STAR’s racing manners.

Near the 500m DENOUEMENT, which also had a tendency to overrace, improved on to the heels of MISS FORWARD (M. Wood), blundered and as a result shifted wider on the track forcing LA MARIPOSA (R. McMahon) wider at that point.

Near the 400m MISS SNITZEL overreacted and lost ground when being steadied from the heels of DENOUEMENT which shifted in. Apprentice K. James, the rider of DENOUEMENT, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

THAT’S HARRY, which raced greenly throughout, hung out rounding the home turn.

Stewards questioned S. Katsidis regarding the performance of MORE LUCK which after obtaining a forward position in the early stages appeared to lose ground rounding the home turn. S. Katsidis stated that the horse became awkward rounding the turn and despite his urgings lost ground as a result. He further stated that shortly after entering the straight he was obliged to alter course to shift out around the heels of MY OPPORTUNITY which shifted out under pressure. The explanation was noted.

Race 3: XXXX GOLD PLATE – 1666M
1st – Figasaurus 2nd – Court Jesting 3rd – Sophies Special 4th – Giant Victory

DANCETIGER (N. Thomas) was slow to begin.

ROCKIN RILEY (K. Wharton) jumped away awkwardly making contact with GIANT VICTORY (C. Munce).

GRANITE KING (K. Pope) raced wide during the early stages.

Leaving the 800m ROCKIN RILEY shifted out to improve, forcing GRANITE KING wider on the track.

GRANITE KING was again forced wider approaching the 500m by BACKUP PLAN (J. Taylor), which was taken out by BAD BOY BAZZA (M. Wood), which shifted out to improve. BACKUP PLAN and GRANITE KING both became awkward in this incident and MR DAYBREAK (L. Rolls), which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence. Apprentice M. Wood was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 4: CITY OF IPSWICH H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Sir Jaystin 2nd – Honours Kids 3rd – Golden Clang 4th – I’m Busy

The start of this race was delayed when DREAM GUN proved difficult to load. Connections were advised a further barrier certificate would be required for the horse.

The start was further delayed when BENJI BULLET (B. Looker), which proved difficult to load, shifted its off hind plate. The farrier removed the plate and endeavoured to remove the nearside plate, however was unable to do so and the horse raced only with its near hind plate on. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.

DREAM GUN (L. Finlay) was slow to begin.

REGAL SANCTUM (R. Wiggins), which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start by YOU’RE BLESSED (S. Seamer), which jumped away awkwardly, causing both horses to lose ground. YOU’RE BLESSED continued to race greenly during the early stages of the event and had to be steadied near the 1100m from the heels of HONOURS KIDS.

Approaching the 1100m DREAM GUN shifted in and clipped the heels of TAKE COVER (C. McIver) and blundered.

Near the 1000m YAMACUTTA (M. Heagney), which was tightened for room between CALL ME COBBER (A. Erhart) and HONOURS KIDS (M. Wood), which shifted in, had to be steadied and lost ground.

I’M BUSY (K. Pope) raced greenly throughout and hung out rounding the home turn.

SNAPPY KING (J. Taylor), which raced greenly throughout, improved on to the heels of DUSTY WISH (K. Ashton) rounding the home turn, clipped that horse’s heels, blundered and shifted wider on the track as a result.

Apprentice M. Wood, the rider of HONOURS KIDS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of CALL ME COBBER, resulting in CALL ME COBBER being taken in, whilst being restrained, on to the rightful running of PRINCESS PEACH (D. Tanti) , which resulted in that runner being tightened between CALL ME COBBER and GOLDEN CLANG (S. Katsidis), which was racing to the inside, resulting in PRINCESS PEACH and CALL ME COBBER being checked. Apprentice M. Wood’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 11 August, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 25 August 2010.

DREAM GUN hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 5: RECRUITMENT QUEENSLAND H’CAP – 2150M
1st – Cross Town Traffic 2nd – Potters Cay 3rd – Lander 4th – Seattle Dane

FAMOUS FORTUNE (C. Munce) was slow to begin. Connections were advised that a warning was being placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.

WITH ELEGANCE (L. Cheshire) stood flat-footed as the start was effected. Connections were advised that a further barrier certificate would be required before the horse’s next start.

ROCK RULES (J. Taylor) was tightened for room at the start between IN LIGHTS (B. Looker) and WHISPERING ACT (C. Small), which shifted out.

TICKLY ME QUICK (K. Ashton) jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the winning post the first time, after obtaining the lead, B. Looker (IN LIGHTS) steadied the pace, resulting in TWILIGHT EXPRESS (R. McMahon), which was following, having to be steadied from heels and shifted out hampering CROSS TOWN TRAFFIC (S. Katsidis). Apprentice B. Looker was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. A short distance later CROSS TOWN TRAFFIC shifted in and became awkward on the heels of TWILIGHT EXPRESS and shifted to the inside of that horse hampering LANDER (B. Pengelly).

Near the 900m REAL WORLD (P. Hammersley) shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with POTTERS CAY (M. Walker), forcing that horse wider on the track. Both horses became unbalanced in this incident.

SEATTLE DANE (L. Rolls) shifted out to improve from the 800m and as a result raced wide from that point onwards.

IN LIGHTS was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

A post-race veterinary examination of FAMOUS FORTUNE, which performed below market expectations, failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider C. Munce reported that at no stage did the horse travel comfortably and was under pressure from the 800m and could offer no tangible explanation for the performance. Trainer L. Paton advised stewards that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

Race 6: YALUMBA H’CAP – 1666M
1st – Golden Jaguar 2nd – Zenton 3rd – Pacific Highway 4th – Heartshaker

PRINCE VILHELM (B. Pengelly) and PREACHER BOY (S. Seamer) were both slow to begin.

DIAMONDHEART (L. Cheshire) blundered on jumping away.

ARTSECRETS (M. Wood) was hampered on jumping away between PACIFIC HIGHWAY (D. Tanti), which shifted in, and HEARTSHAKER (S. Katsidis), which shifted out.

STUD MUFFIN (M. Walker) overraced during the early and middle stages.

REASSURING (J. Bowditch) and LOGANS HERO (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout.

Near the 400m PREACHER BOY shifted out to obtain clear running at the same time as ARTSECRETS shifted in. As a result, ARTSECRETS had to be steadied from the heels of PREACHER BOY.

Near the 400m BIDTHEMOBGOODAY (R. McMahon), when attempting to obtain clear running between ZENTON (R. Wiggins), to the inside, and LOGANS HERO, to the outside, was inconvenienced when both those horses shifted ground. BIDTHEMOBGOODAY then had difficulty obtaining clear running and was disappointed approaching the 100m when R. McMahon was obliged to stop riding and alter course to obtain clear running after being disappointed for a run between REASSURING and LOGANS HERO which shifted out.

HEARTSHAKER, which was held up rounding the home turn, then had to be steadied near the 250m when attempting a run where there was doubtful room to the inside of HOTACT (N. Thomas), which shifted in slightly.

ANABIDDY (J. Wood) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 150m.

When questioned regarding the performance of BIDTHEMOBGOODAY, which performed below market expectations, jockey R. McMahon stated that after travelling well and being in a position behind the eventual winner near the 600m, the horse failed to quicken when pressured from that point, and as a result was unable to follow the winner and had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 100m. It is his view that the horse would be more suited on a larger track where it is able to get out into clear running earlier and have time to improve into the race. Trainer’s representative Ms Nichols stated that post-race the horse may have shown signs of jarring up, however a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Ms Nichols was advised to ask trainer Mr T. Hall to contact stewards should anything come to light in the coming days which may have had a bearing on the performance.

BILLUM (P. Hammersley) lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 7: FRIDAY RACE DAY PACKAGES H’CAP – 1100M
1st – Shotfire Joker 2nd – No Ransom 3rd – Another Dan 4th – Jazz Music

BONHOMME RICHARD (C. Eaton) was severely tightened for room at the start and had to be checked between ITALA PRINCE (J. Taylor), which was taken out by SPEEDOMETER (M. Walker), and ILLUDE (P. Hammersley), which was taken in by LAST LAUGH TAR (J. Bowditch).

Shortly after the start SPEEDOMETER was tightened for room and had to be steadied between ITALA PRINCE and FLY TO RIO (N. Thomas), which shifted out.

ITALA PRINCE overraced during the early and middle stages.

Leaving the 800m SHOTFIRE JOKER (S. Katsidis) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room to the inside of NO RANSOM (G. Colless), which shifted in.

Near the 700m NO HALOS (M. Heagney) blundered and lost ground after improving on to the heels of LAST LAUGH TAR when overracing.

Near the 400m NO RANSOM and JAZZ MUSIC (N. Yamada) both shifted in, making heavy contact with the running rail.

Near the 400m FLY TO RIO, which laid in, had to be steadied from the heels of ANOTHER DAN (K. Forrester), which shifted out.

JAZZ MUSIC hung out rounding the home turn.

ANOTHER DAN, which was following SHOTFIRE JOKER during the early stages of the straight, was reluctant to shift out to the outside of that horse’s heels to obtain clear running, despite the efforts of its rider to do so.

A post-race veterinary examination of LAST LAUGH TAR, which raced wide throughout, revealed no abnormalities.
