Supplementary Report

Due to transportation difficulties caused by an accident on the freeway westbound to Ipswich, a number of horses and riders were unable to be present on course prior to the starting time of Race 1. As a result, stewards rescheduled all races back one race time, with the last race scheduled for 5.25 pm.

Race 1: Sky Racing QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1000m
1st – Hundred Cube 2nd – Tanzina 3rd – Harvey’s Loss 4th - Goldslick

Stewards permitted CAPTAIN FASTBUCK to race without its advertised racing gear of a nose roll due to trainer D. Lawlor being unable to provide that gear. D. Lawlor was fined $100.

Stewards accepted the explanation from jockey D. Griffin for being unable to make the allotted weight on COUGAR FISH. J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of COUGAR FISH.

MANHATTAN DANCER (R. Hancock) began awkwardly and lost ground.

COUGAR FISH (J. Taylor) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, TANZINA (K. Banks) was tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing between GOLDSLICK (P. Hammersley) and HUNDRED CUBE (B. Stewart), which shifted in.

Leaving the 800m, GOLDSLICK (P. Hammersley) became awkward on the heels of CAPTAIN FASTBUCK (A. Spinks) and had to be steadied.

TANZINA (K. Banks) was held up for clear running on the heels of HARVEY’S LOSS (B. Hull) approaching and leaving the 200m.

After leaving the 200m, B. Hull, rider of HARVEY’S LOSS, dropped his near-side rein and lost the use of that rein for the remainder of the race.

SPOTTED EAGLE (K. Wharton) raced wide for the majority of the event.

MR MOSSOP (S. Scriven), which raced wide for the majority of the event, compounded in the home straight. Jockey Scriven reported that, in his opinion, the horse failed to stretch out at any stage of the event. A post race veterinary examination of MR MOSSOP failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on MR MOSSOP regarding its racing manners.


Race 2: Tattsbet.com F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Testa’s Big Lassie 2nd – Mauve Lady 3rd – Oh Susie Darlin’ 4th – Drawn To Dubai

As J. Kropp failed to arrive on course due to transportation difficulties, B. Wallace was substituted as the rider of OH SUSIE DARLIN’.

Upon application by connections, MIDNIGHT SHIRAZ (11.45 am) and ANABARBIE (11.40 am) were declared late scratchings due to the downgrading of the track.

TESTA’S BIG LASSIE (S. Scriven) and BAYSIDE (C. Small) both began awkwardly.

O SUSIE DARLIN’ (B. Wallace) shifted in at the start, making contact with DRAWN TO DUBAI (K. Fuji).

DRAWN TO DUBAI (K. Fuji) attempted to buck shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that DRAWN TO DUBAI must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.

Leaving the 300m, OH SUSIE DARLIN’ (B. Wallace) was inconvenienced by CHEEKYXAARS (M. Hellyer), which was compounding.

On return to scale, CHEEKYXAARS was found to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer K. Wood was advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months. Mr Wood further advised stewards that it would be his intention that CHEEKYXAARS would be retired from racing.


Race 3: Ray White Ipswich F&M Maiden H'cap 1200m
1st – La Mariposa 2nd – Show A Fortune 3rd – Pernese 4th - Mikinta

Upon application by connections, HEART SCENT (1.45 pm), TIYATRO (12.20 pm) and ELVINE’S ELSIE (1.40 pm) were declared late scratchings due to the downgrading of the track.

The start was delayed when LETHAL LASS proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning was being placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners.

PERNESE (K. Wharton) began awkwardly and threw its head in the air.

LETHAL LASS (J. Taylor) shifted out at the start, making contact with SUN KINGDOM (S. Scriven), which in turn shifted out, bumping SHOW A FORTUNE (D. Tanti).

The connections of LETHAL LASS, which compounded in the straight, were advised that a warning was being placed on the filly regarding its racing manners.

TOBORAIGH STAR (B. Wallace) hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of LETHAL LASS, jockey J. Taylor stated that, in his opinion, the filly failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.


Race 4: Kaysuelle Fashions Maiden Plate – 2150m
1st – Jedilad 2nd – Scottu 3rd – Leica Beach Boy 4th - Kentaro

Upon application by connections, HOT DUBAI (1 pm) was declared a late scratching due to the downgrading of the track.

After knuckling over at the start, SUNDAY BELE (D. Griffin) was then tightened for room between IVAN’S CHOICE (J. Taylor), which shifted out, and LE TOUR DE FRANCE (P. Hammersley), which shifted in after making contact with TAIMAZOV TRUFFEL (D. Barron).

LEICA BEACH BOY (J. Byrne), COTHAM (M. O’Brien) and BACK TO ABILENE (B. Wallace) were all slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, JEDILAD (R. Hancock) shifted in, making contact with KENTARO (J. Bowditch).

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, both IVAN’S CHOICE (J. Taylor) and TAIMAZOV TRUFFEL were inconvenienced when tightened for room by KENTARO (J. Bowditch), which shifted in. J. Bowditch, rider of KENTARO, was advised to exercise more care.

TAIMAZOV TRUFFEL raced wide in the early stages.

From leaving the 1000m, LEICA BEACH BOY shifted wider on the track to improve when the pace slackened.

Near the 200m, CANGRANDE (K. Wharton) improved onto the heels of the tiring JEDILAD, which shifted in under pressure. R. Hancock, rider of JEDILAD, was advised to exercise more care.

COTHAM raced wide for the majority of the event.

J. Bowditch, rider of KENTARO, was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

KENTARO lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 5: Rising Sun Hotel Class 2 H'cap – 1680m
1st – Kiss Me Deadly 2nd – Maling 3rd – We Are Happy 4th – Jolly Good Luck

Upon application by connections, MACEDON (12.15 pm), MAYWEATHER (12.35 pm), TUSCANARROW (12.20 pm) and TYPHOON FURY (1.20 pm) were declared late scratchings due to the downgrading of the track.

JOLLY GOOD LUCK (M. Gray) was slow to begin.


Race 6: Maiden H'cap 1200m
1st – Quest For More 2nd – Bilt Leica 3rd – Rytarga 4th – Shah Rukh

Upon application by connections, FIGHTING DEMONS (2.35 pm), CANADIAN COUNTER (12.30 pm), EQUAL ARCH (12.20 pm), WILLIAMS AGENDA (12 pm) and CRANNIES (12.20 pm) were declared late scratchings due to the downgrading of the track.

QUEST FOR MORE (D. Barron) and BITE OF CHANGE (B. Wallace) were tightened for room shortly after the start between SNAPPY QUEST (J. Taylor), which shifted out, and SIR SCISSORS (W. Clasohm), which began awkwardly and shifted in.

ROLLING HEIGHTS (A. Spinks) blundered on jumping away, and a short distance later blundered again.

SIR SCISSORS (W. Clasohm) had to be steadied for a short distance approaching the 800m when tightened for room between SHAH RUKH (D. Tanti) and SNAPPY QUEST, which shifted out slightly.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ZODIAC PRINCE, K. Forrester stated that, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of ZODIAC PRINCE revealed. Failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

TRADIES HOPE lost its near hind plate in running.


Race 7: Clark’s Industrial CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – The Last Rautai 2nd – Warchimes 3rd – Oscarmania 4th – Grey Mambo

Upon application by connections, FLASH JESTER (12.20 pm), MILLHOUSEN (2.20 pm) and HIGH CHANCELLOR (11.40 pm) were declared late scratchings due to the downgrading of the track.

The start of this race was delayed when the bubble cheeker on OSCARMANIA became detached from the bridle when proceeding to the barriers. As this piece of gear was unable to be located, permission was granted for the horse to race without the bubble cheeker.

GREY MAMBO (K. Forrester) and OSCARMANIA (N. Yamada) began awkwardly.

Near the 500m, THE LAST RAUTAI (B. Richardson) had to be restrained after improving into a narrow run to the inside of OSCARMANIA (N. Yamada), which shifted out slightly and then shifted back in. Whilst stewards noted the heavy track conditions today, both riders were nonetheless advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of OCTAGONAL SPEED, B. Stewart stated that, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions and as such was reluctant to pressure the horse over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of OCTAGONAL SPEED failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

B. Richardson, rider of THE LAST RAUTAI, dropped her whip leaving the 200m.

N. Yamada, rider of OSCARMANIA, dropped his whip approaching the winning post.
