From QTC, 2.5.12

Trainer D. Lawlor advised that I’llbetricked, which compounded badly from the 600m, will be sent for an immediate spell. Stewards advised Mr Lawlor that the horse must compete satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.

As S. Galloway and S. Payne were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Royal Mail Hotel, CG&E Maiden H'cap- 1100m
1st – I’m Busted 2nd – Hard Work 3rd – Poltice 4th – Steel To The Heel

THE DRESSMAKER (B. Richardson) was slow to begin.

POWER TO SUCCEED (R. McMahon) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with UNSHAKEN (A. Spinks).

R. McMahon, rider of POWER TO SUCCEED, lost the use of his off-side iron for a short distance after the start. He also reported that the gelding had a tendency to lay in in the early stages of the event.

Near the 800m, POWER TO SUCCEED had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of HARD WORK (S. Drake), which shifted in.

LITTLE FOU (J. Taylor) was held up for clear running and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until the 300m.

HARD WORK (S. Drake) was held up for clear running and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until a point leaving the 200m.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of THE DRESSMAKER, rider B. Richardson stated that the gelding, after being slow to begin, failed to respond to her riding at any time throughout the event and proved disappointing. Trainer K. Jones stated that the horse had pleased him in trackwork leading up to today’s event and was at a loss to explain the performance today and was very disappointed with the horse. After considering all submissions, trainer K. Jones was informed that the nomination of THE DRESSMAKER would now be refused at metropolitan and provincial TAB meetings until it could establish competitive form in the country area.

STEEL TO THE HEEL lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 2: Goodna Old Boys F&M Maiden H'cap – 1100m
1st – Djebel’s Impact 2nd – Mrs Macgillycuddy 3rd – The Singing Bullet 4th – Cougar Fish

A pre-race veterinary examination of GOOD HUNTING, which had not started since 21 February 2010, cleared the horse to race.

JOANNE’S CHOICE (J. Taylor), PRINCESS CHENKA (L. Williams) and WISKWILA (P. Schmidt) were all slow to begin.

Near the 950m, QUEEN ROSE (A. Spinks) had to be checked when tightened for room between JOANNE’S CHOICE and WISKWILA (P. Schmidt), which initially shifted in away from GAZE UPON A STAR (S. Drake), and then a short distance later, JOANNE’S CHOICE, QUEEN ROSE and WISKWILA were again tightened for room between THE SINGING BULLET (M. Hellyer) and GAZE UPON A STAR, which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey S. Drake, rider of GAZE UPON A STAR, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

QUEEN ROSE was unable to secure clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m.

COUGAR FISH (A. Hearn), THE SINGING BULLET and SPECIAL WHISPER (A. Smith) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the performance of GOOD HUNTING, rider C. Munce stated that, in his opinion, the mare was unable to muster any early speed but worked to the line strongly in the home straight. He further added that the mare, in his opinion, would be better suited to distances longer than that of today’s race.

Race 3: Irish Heart Hotel QTIS 2yo H'cap 1350m
1st – Courtz Boy 2nd – Anikintime 3rd – Top Rada 4th – Swingin’ Dazzler

Small), which had to be steadied and shift in, and as a result tightened MARSA (J. Taylor) in on to GAY DECEIVER (M. Hellyer), resulting in MARSA having to be checked. D. Griffin was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 12 May and to expire at midnight, 23 May.

SWEET AND VICIOUS (R. Hurdle) began awkwardly and shortly after the start was tightened for room between LUCKY SOUND (L. Cassidy) and ELECTROJET (G. Goold), which shifted in and as a result clipped the heels of ELECTROJET and blundered.

Approaching the 300m, SWEET AND VICIOUS shifted out to obtain clear running and inconvenienced INDECISION (M. Hellyer).
