SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
As L. Morrison was not riding due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Jockey P. Holmes was fined $100 for failing to produce a medical clearance as directed by stewards.
Race 1: MULGOWIE HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1666M
1st – Dayuan 2nd – Papa Gee 3rd – Lets Thinkabout It 4th – Magic Twist
The start of this race was delayed when THAT’S GOSPEL (M. O’Brien) was late arriving in the enclosure.
LETS THINKABOUT IT (M. Vance) began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with PAPA GEE (T. Harrison), which became unbalanced.
ZAGAMI (R. Myers) overraced in the early stages of the event.
DAYUAN (C. Whiteley) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
A veterinary examination of THAT’S GOSPEL, which finished tailed off, revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G. Betros was advised that in light of the filly’s poor performance, it’s nomination at provincial and metropolitan TAB meetings would be refused until such time as it establishes competitive country form.
Race 2: KEN HOOPER & ASSOCIATES MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
1st – Western Buzz 2nd – Sirrush 3rd – Court Habit 4th – I’m Adamant
WESTERN BUZZ (T. Harrison) and RAFFLES MISS (G. Goold) were tightened for room between DON’T SING PA (Matthew Palmer) and COURT HABIT (J. Byrne), both of which shifted ground.
Race 3: MULGOWIE FARMING COMPANY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
1st – She Who Knows 2nd – Summers On The Run 3rd – You’re Serious 4th – Rustic Play
The saddle on BLACK CLARET (G. Goold) shifted whilst the horse was proceeding to the barriers, resulting in the gelding having to be resaddled.
YOU’RE SERIOUS (J. Taylor), which had blood in its mouth after arriving at the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
RUSTIC PLAY (M. O’Brien), SHE WHO KNOWS (S. Galloway) and RESTITUTION (R. Goltz) were slow to begin.
BLACK CLARET jumped out at the start making contact with FAIR RISE (R. Myers).
YOU’RE SERIOUS and SUMMERS ON THE RUN (T. Harrison) were tightened for room shortly after the start between FAIR RISE, which shifted out, and WHYDOTHISTOME (D. Green), which began awkwardly and shifted in.
Near the 1000m YOU’RE SERIOUS had to be steadied when tightened for room between SUMMERS ON THE RUN and WHYDOTHISTOME, which shifted in. D. Green (WHYDOTHISTOME) was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
Near the 800m RUSTIC PLAY improved on to the heels of BLACK CLARET, which was racing greenly, which resulted in SHE WHO KNOWS, which was following, also having to be restrained from the heels of RUSTIC PLAY.
YOU’RE SERIOUS and SUMMERS ON THE RUN raced wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 500m RESTITUTION, which had raced greenly throughout, hung out.
RESTITUTION was held up for clear running and unable to improve when disappointed for a run between WHYDOTHISTOME and SUMMERS ON THE RUN from leaving the 300m.
On returning to scale apprentice G. Goold, the rider of BLACK CLARET, reported that the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the race.
Race 4: MULGOWIE CRICKET CLUB F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Soft Angel 2nd – Perfect Cube 3rd – Hot Chocolat 4th – On The Liffey
SOFT ANGEL (R. Myers) began awkwardly.
Near the 1000m DAME JUDARIUS (D. Tanti) shifted in, making contact with GET ON (P. Hammersley), which had to be steadied.
MORE DUST (J. Byrne) and MY MIRAGE (R. Jamieson) overraced in the early stages.
MY MIRAGE raced wide for the majority of the event.
ON THE LIFFEY (A. Pattillo) commenced to hang out leaving the 500m and continued to do so rounding the home turn which allowed SOFT ANGEL, which was racing back and to its inside, to improve inside that runner.
M. Cahill reported to stewards that it was not his intention to lead on PERFECT CUBE, however the horse had a tendency to overrace in the early and middle stages.
P. Hammersley reported that GET ON resented racing inside horses and he was disappointed with its efforts in finishing the race off.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HOT CHOCOLAT, apprentice T. Harrison reported that it was not her intention to ride the horse in a forward position, however after beginning well and not being pressured, HOT CHOCOLAT raced comfortably in that position. She added that the horse was having its first run back from a spell and in her opinion may have raced fresh today. Stewards noted her explanation.
Race 5: XXXX GOLD C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Default 2nd –Storm The Line 3rd – Vain At Heart 4th – Voodoo Black Magic
MILLERSBURG (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.
CERVANCE (B. Appo) and VAIN AT HEART (S. Galloway) were tightened for room at the start between BILLY JAY (D. Griffin) and WISHMORE (M. Vance), which shifted out.
BILLY JAY raced wide for the majority of the event.
VOODOO BLACK MAGIC (J. Taylor) had difficulty obtaining clear running when racing to the inside of STORM THE LINE (J. Byrne) for the majority of the straight.
WISHMORE hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ZIGGURAT, apprentice R. Myers reported that in her opinion ZIGGURAT may not be suited to the tight turning track of today’s event and is better suited when racing on bigger circuits and was disappointed with the gelding’s performance today. Trainer J. Caught expressed his disappointment with the horse’s performance today and gave an undertaking to advise stewards if anything comes to light in coming days which may have affected the performance. Race 6: YALUMBA CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1666M
1st – Huxtable 2nd – Utmost Faith 3rd – Rogertheredneck 4th – Nuits St Georges
ROGERTHEREDNECK (T. Huxham) shifted out abruptly at the start, forcing AKBAR MAHAL (R. McMahon) out on to HUXTABLE (M. Cahill), which in turn shifted out, forcing UNTOWARD (J. Byrne) out across the heels of SHEEZ KEEN (S. Galloway) and having to be checked.
NUITS ST GEORGES (T. Harrison) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Apprentice T. Huxham, the rider of ROGERTHEREDNECK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of SHEEZ KEEN, resulting in SHEEZ KEEN having to alter course to avoid the heels of ROGERTHEREDNECK. Apprentice Huxham’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 11 November, and expire following the Ipswich day meeting on Friday, 23 November 2012.
Race 7: SKY RACING CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Weedreamed 2nd – Outback Biff 3rd – Passivity 4th - Ervbefel
CALL ME COBBER (A. Erhart) began awkwardly.
ERVBEFEL (A. Pattillo) blundered at the start, almost dislodging its rider, and then shifted in making contact with WEEDREAMED (P. Hammersley. A short distance later ERVBEFEL had to be checked when tightened for room between WEEDREAMED, which was taken out slightly by OUTBACK BIFF (R. Wiggins), and CALL ME COBBER, which shifted in.
PASSIVITY (G. Goold) jumped out at the start making contact with TAPIKI (M. Cahill).
KISTAMON (M. McKenzie) shifted out at the start making contact with OUTBACK BIFF.
TAPIKI raced wide for the majority of the event.
TEIFI VALLEY (T. Harrison) overraced in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 800m KISTAMON had to be steadied off the heels of PASSIVITY (G. Goold), which shifted in, and when doing so shifted in slightly, crowding MR AXEMAN (B. Appo), which became unbalanced, made contact with the running rail and lost ground. After considering all the circumstances, stewards issued apprentice G. Goold with a severe reprimand and advised him to use greater care when shifting ground.
Near the 800m TEIFI VALLEY shifted in making contact with the running rail.
Approaching the 800m CALL ME COBBER commenced to overrace and shifted wider on the track.
Near the 500m ERVBEFEL, which was racing ungenerously, commenced to hang out and blundered.
A post-race veterinary examination of CALL ME COBBER revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer P. Gardner was advised that prior to CALL ME COBBER racing again it must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and the results of an ECG must be produced to stewards.
TAPIKI bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that as this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled, it would be ineligible to start in any race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing the horse must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
A post-race veterinary examination of ERVBEFEL revealed the mare to have a laceration to the off hind pastern.
