SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Following further rain, stewards downgraded the track rating to Heavy 8 at 11.20 am.
Race 1: Terry Neale Memorial Class 3 H'cap – 800m
1st – Ervbefel 2nd – Little Mrs Murphy 3rd – Embraer 4th - Takemetotheburj
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T. Gollan for the late scratching of LATIN AMERICAN at 7.31 a.m.
ERVBEFEL (D. Green) and SHOESHINE BOY (M. McKenzie) bumped at the start.
Approaching the 600m, ERVBEFEL was steadied when momentarily tightened for room to the inside of TAKEMETOTHEBURJ (T. Wolfgram), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. TAKEMETOTHEBURJ again shifted in near the 500m causing SHOESHINE BOY (M. McKenzie) to be steadied when tightened for room between EMBRAER (R. McMahon) and TAKEMETOTHEBURJ, which shifted in. T. Wolfgram, rider of TAKEMETOTHEBURG, was advised to exercise more care.
Apprentice M. McKenzie (SHOESHINE BOY) and G. Killen (ZIPPITY JET) reported that their mounts did not handle the rain affected track surface.
ZIPPITY JET lost both front shoes in running.
Following this race the track rating was downgraded to Heavy 9.
Race 2: Kelvin Keidge Memorial Maiden H'cap – 1666m
1st – Honey D’Amour 2nd – Decoolcat 3rd – Hot Bickies 4th - Unspoken
HEY MURRI (T. Wolfgram) was slow to begin.
HOT BICKIES (S. Drake) overraced during the early stages.
J. Byrne advised that in the early stages DECOOLCAT was inclined to hang out and again was inclined to hang out approaching the home turn
Apprentice A. Holt reported that GRAND SUITE felt very awkward in its action over the final 600m, and in his opinion failed to handle the rain affected track surface. A post race veterinary examination of GRAND SUITE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 3: Col Bayliss Memorial QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Flamboyer 2nd – Pound On Tubby 3rd – Fasta Than Light 4th – Zaranda Angel
CHILLS (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly, losing ground.
BRADY ‘N’ ME (J. Lloyd) was slow to begin.
FASTA THAN LIGHT (B. Swaffer) hung out rounding the home turn.
Race 4: Dr Mervyn Fish Memorial Maiden H'cap – 1100m
1st – Rouble Rose 2nd – Belvedere Blast 3rd – Outback Carlson 4th – Die Young
DIE YOUNG (K. Yoshida) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with DE LAGO’S GYPSY (R. McMahon).
BELVEDERE BLAST (M. Cahill) was slow to begin and then raced wide throughout. Jockey M. Cahill reported that, in his opinion, BELVEDERE BLAST was not comfortable in the rain affected conditions.
Race 5: Max Standfield Memorial Class 2 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Bundy 2nd – Desert Playboy 3rd – Epic Faith 4th - Proto
LOOKOUTMATE (P. Schmidt) and DESERT PLAYBOY (J. Byrne) both jumped away awkwardly and made contact.
TROPHY HUNTER (K. Yoshida) shifted out at the start and made contact with BUNDY (G. Goold), which in turn shifted out, inconveniencing LOOKOUTMATE.
EPIC FAITH (T. Bell) was slowly into stride.
P. Hammersley reported that PROTO failed to handle the rain affected conditions.
Race 6: George Kitching MemoriaL CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Trysta 2nd – Bee Plus 3rd – Todline 4th – Tycoon’s Best
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T. Gollan for the late scratching of GENERAL SON at 7.31 am.
BEE PLUS (L. Cassidy) and ILLUDE (J. Brown) were slow to begin.
Near the 800m, BEE PLUS attempted to shift wider on the track and in doing so made heavy contact with TRYSTA (A. Pattillo), causing both horses to become unbalanced for a short distance.
TYCOON’S BEST (M. Palmer) and BEE PLUS were both held up for clear running rounding the home turn, and near the 400m TYCOON’S BEST had to be steadied from the heels of PILOT ERROR (T. Bell).
CAMARA LAD (G. Goold) and TRYSTA (A. Pattillo) raced wide throughout.
T. Bell reported that PILOT ERROR was under pressure from the 500m and, in his opinion, failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of PILOT ERROR failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
Race 7: Racing Sunday At ITC F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – My Mirage 2nd – Diaphysis 3rd – Modern Rose 4th – Silent Actress
Due to the track downgrading to Heavy 8, stewards acceded to a request from trainer L. Birchley to scratch COOLOOLA at 11.45 am.
JET LARGO (J. Lloyd) overraced in the early stages.
Leaving the 1000m, SOSUEME (G. Goold) was steadied and made contact with the running rail, when forced to race in restricted room to the inside of DIAPHYSIS (M. McKenzie), which improved into a tight run to the inside of STAR OF MAHER (S. Bogenhuber). Following this incident, DIAPHYSIS overraced until approaching the 700m.
GRABTHEMONEY’N’RUN (T. Harrison) raced wide during the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to assume the lead at a point near the 800m.
Approaching the 400m, SILENT ACTRESS (P. Schmidt) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with MY MIRAGE (L. Tarrant).
Rounding the home turn, DIAPHYSIS had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 200m.
MY MIRAGE (L. Tarrant) was forced to race wide throughout.
J. Lloyd reported that at no stage did JET LARGO travel comfortably in the rain affected track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of JET LARGO failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
