Correct weight was delayed to allow T. Harrison, rider of the 3rd placegetter, TELESIUS, to view the film of the race in the straight to ascertain if she had grounds to lodge a protest against WARSHIP being declared the 2nd placegetter. Subsequently, T. Harrison declined to lodged a protest.

TELESIUS began very awkwardly, losing considerable ground.
VILAYET (C. Schmidt) was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
ISAVENGER (J. Lloyd) was held up rounding the home turn.
B. Appo, rider of WARSHIP, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he did allow his mount to continually shift out when being ridden along from leaving the 300m, and as a consequence of that continual shift, TELESIUS (T. Harrison) was dictated outwards from a point leaving the 200m, which eventually resulted in TELESIUS having to be steadied from the heels of WARSHIP leaving the 100m, and as a consequence TELESIUS lost ground at this stage. Apprentice Appo conceded that he should have shown greater initiative at that point of the race by applying pressure to RUBY’S EPIC in an effort to prevent the leaders establishing a margin from him. Whilst noting the instructions and apprentice Appo’s relative inexperience, stewards advised him that he had erred in his riding of RUBY’S EPIC, in particular his failure to pressure the mare rounding the home turn.
