SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From ITC meeting, 12.4.13 – Race 3.

Stewards today inquired into the reason for Sonic Hill falling, resulting in jockey L. Morrison being dislodged from that runner. Evidence was taken from L. Morrison, G. Colless (Kabowd) and M. Cahill (Deep Cove). After considering the evidence of the riders, and from stewards' own observations of the race and the race patrol footage, it was established that Sonic Hill shifted to the inside of Deep Cove near the 100m in an endeavour to obtain clear running and at the same stage Deep Cove shifted in, placing Sonic Hill in restricted room. Deep Cove then shifted in slightly nearing the winning post, resulting in Sonic Hill clipping the heels of that runner, falling and dislodging its rider, L. Morrison. After considering the evidence, stewards could not be satisfied that either M. Cahill, rider of Deep Cove, or L. Morrision, rider of Sonic Hill, had ridden in a careless manner and could not attribute blame to any one rider and no further action was taken.

Race 1: Sky Racing Maiden H'cap – 1100m

As A. Holt was indisposed, B. Appo was substituted as the rider of MISS REMY.

DIAMONEEZE (M. Cahill) was slow to begin.

BEAUTIFUL BARB (S. Bogenhuber) overraced at the heels of SEQUAJAKE (R. Wiggins) in the middle stages.

G. Colless, rider of ISIS FLYER, reported that after being trapped wide from the wide barrier gate he elected to take hold of the filly and obtain a position closer to the fence at the rear of the field.

ZEDARK (T. Bell) and MISS REMY (B. Appo) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the performance of MISS REMY, B. Appo stated that his instructions were to ride the filly in a forward position, however, in his opinion, MISS REMY failed to handle today's track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of MISS REMY revealed the filly to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate would be required for MISS REMY prior to its next race start.

Race 2: Optus Maiden Plate – 800m

LA CHATEAU (G. Cooksley) and STARZOU (T. Bell) were tightened for room on jumping away between ELUSIVE LEONE (P. Hammersley) and SIMBAROSA (R. Wiggins), which shifted out. LA CHATEAU lost ground as a result of this incident.

COSTA LOTSA (S. Bogenhuber) and BROWN EYED MISS (M. McKenzie) were tightened for room on jumping away between STILL WAITING (A. Erhart) and MYSTIC MEDUSA (W. O'Connell), both of which shifted ground.

STILL WAITING hung out in the early stages of the race and raced ungenerously in the home straight.

T. Bell, rider of STARZOU, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that over the final 100m he allowed his mount to shift out under heavy riding and in doing so dictated the running of ELUSIVE LEONE, resulting in P. Hammersley, rider of ELUSIVE LEONE, not being able to fully test his mount over the concluding stages. T. Bell was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to be served concurrently with the 7 meeting suspension incurred by T. Bell in Race 6.

Race 3: Ray White Ipswich Maiden H'cap – 2190m

As M. Palmer was delayed due to traffic delays, M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of MAXIMUM CASH.

BADBOYCURTIS (A. Allen) began awkwardly and shifted in, having to be steadied from the heels of MAXIMUM CASH (M. Cahill).

KING OF FLORENCE (G. Cooksley) was slow to begin.

Near the 2000m, XENA EXPRESS (J. Byrne) had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of FANCY FERN (M. Hellyer). BADBOYCURTIS (A. Allen) was inconvenienced at this stage also by MAXIMUM CASH, which shifted in.

XENA EXPRESS overraced in the early stages and leaving the home straight on the first occasion, shifted out when being steadied by its rider, resulting in BADBOYCURTIS, which was racing to the outside of XENA EXPRESS, having to be steadied from the heels of NO GUESSING (D. McMaster).

FIFTH COLUMN (S. Bogenhuber) hung out leaving the home straight on the first occasion.

JUST ONE KAY (K. Yoshida) and BADBOYCURTIS (A. Allen) both shifted wider on the track to improve near the 1400m and both raced wide from that point onwards.

NO GUESSING raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from jockey D. McMaster regarding her riding of NO GUESSING today. She stated that she was instructed to race behind the pace and obtain cover, adding that near the 1400m when placed 3 wide she endeavoured to obtain a position behind MAXIMUM CASH one off the fence, however when the pace slackened she was unable to do so and NO GUESSING was then caught in a 3-wide position for the remainder of the event. She added she placed the mare under pressure from the 800m, however the mare started to tire from the 400m and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. Miss McMaster further stated that, in her opinion, NO GUESSING may have come to the end of its current preparation. Trainer Mrs M. Simpson confirmed the instructions, adding she was disappointed with the mare's performance, which she attributed to being caught wide throughout the event. Mrs Simpson advised that provided the mare pulled up well, she would continue with its current preparation.

Race 4: Channel 7 Class 2 H'cap – 1700m

HERE'S ROGER (B. Appo) was buffeted shortly after the start between SHARMA (R. Wiggins) and MORE DUST (T. Bell), which shifted out.

MR MYSTERIOUS (M. McKenzie) overraced at the heels of MAN WITH THE PLAN (L. Cassidy) in the early stages and had to be steadied by its rider rounding the turn near the 1200m.

Approaching the 1200m, DEFY ALL ODDS (A. Allen) shifted in and when being corrected by its rider then shifted out, hampering HERE'S ROGER.

Nearing the 800m, SNOW'S A LADY (S. Bogenhuber) had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between ANGELONMYSHOULDER (J. Stanley) and HERE'S APPO, which shifted in.

S. Bogenhuber, rider of SNOW'S A LADY, reported that near the 700m, when racing between ANGELONMYSHOULDER (J. Stanley) and ALL COIN (G. Cooksley), SNOW'S A LADy was reluctant to hold its position and lost ground as a result.

ALL COIN (G. Cooksley) was held up for a short distance rounding the home turn at the heels of HERE'S ROGER.

HERE'S ROGER shifted in shortly after straightening and made contact with MORE DUST.

ANGELONMYSHOULDER was held up rounding the home turn and was disappointed for clear running until a point near the 200m.

R. Wiggins reported that SHARMA failed to handle the today's heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of SHARMA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

A post race veterinary examination of SNOW'S A LADY revealed the mare to have been galloped on on the near fore knee.

Race 5: Ipswich Cup 15th June Class 2 H'cap – 1375m

Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for TANG KING by the prescribed time.

The start of this race was delayed when PEA BIGGY (L. Cassidy), after hitting its head in the barriers, was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

Correct weight was delayed to allow B. Appo, rider of the 4th placegetter, HARKAWAY GIRL, to view the stewards' footage over the final 100m straight to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge a protest against TANGO KING (G. Colless) being declared 2nd. Subsequently, B. Appo declined to lodge a protest.

PEA BIGGY began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with WARP NINE (G. Goold).

HARKAWAY GIRL (B. Appo) was tightened for room over the concluding stages between UNSEEN (M. McKenzie) and TANGO KING, which shifted in slightly.

G. Cooksley reported that PORT RAIDER failed to handle today's heavy track conditions.

G. Goold reported that WARP NINE was inclined to lay in in the straight.

Stewards sought an explanation from trainer T. Green and jockey A. Merritt regarding the tactics adopted on OMISSION today, which saw the gelding leading by a considerable margin in the early stages of the race. Mrs Green advised that after the gelding had been slow to begin at its last 2 starts she had entered OMISSION in a jump-out to sharpen the gelding's barrier manners up. She believed this may have been to the detriment of OMISSION today in that it resulted in the gelding being fired up and unable to be steadied by its rider in the early stages. Jockey A. Merritt agreed with Mrs Green's assessment and stated that after the gelding was reluctant to settle for him in the first 200m, he elected not to fight OMISSION any further and allowed the gelding to run along at its own pace. This resulted in OMISSION tiring over the concluding stages and not finishing the race off as expected. Trainer T. Green added that she would consider dropping the gelding back in distance in the hope that it would be able to take up a position with cover just off the speed. Mrs Green further stated that she would experiment with the gelding's gear to help it settle. Stewards noted the comments today provided by Mrs Green, however advised that a repetition of today's performance would result in an embargo being placed on OMISSION.

Trainer S. McCarthy's representative was advised that veterinary certificate of fitness would be required for the mare prior to its next race start.

CERVANCE (J. Byrne) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the 800m, BENJI'S WORLD (D. Robinson) had to be momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of DEMIVAL (L. Cassidy).

T. Bell, rider of SINE TIMORE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 300m he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MORE COLOURS (R. McMahon), resulting in MORE COLOURS being tightened between SINE TIMORE and the rail and having to be checked. T. Bell was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings. Stewards ordered that this 7 meeting penalty be served concurrently with the 7 meeting suspension incurred in Race 2, to commence at midnight, 27 April and to expire at midnight, 10 May.

DEMIVAL (L. Cassidy) shifted in under pressure near the 100m, resulting in L. Cassidy having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

ROSEBROOK DANCER (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: Bundy Rum At The Cup QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1100m

TWO FORTY VAULT (A. Allen) was slow to begin.

Near the 600, TURVANNA was tightened for room to the inside of A FINE DROP OF RED (R. Wiggins), which was taken in by WRITTEN ELEISON (G. Cooksley), which shifted in slightly. G. Cooksley, rider of WRITTEN ELEISON, was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Passing the 500m, TWO FORTY VAULT shifted out in an attempt to improve and made contact with LA CASINO.
