SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Sunshine Coast 30.6.13 – Race 3: Trainer B. Guy reported to stewards following the disappointing performance of TRESSLES that he believes the heavy track combined with the horse becoming unbalanced when making contact with another runner on straightening were telling factors in the horse's performance on the day, however the gelding has pleased him in its subsequent work since that run and he intends to continue with its current preparation.

Race 1: IPSWICH KNIGHTS FOOTBALL CLUB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M

ROMBA TOM (R. McMahon) blundered badly at the start, resulting in its rider almost being dislodged.

FOXCAT (M. McKenzie) was slow to begin.

CHAMPAGNE ELOPING (R. Jamieson) began awkwardly and shifted out taking LITTLE MOUNTAIN (A. Taylor) out on to CRAIGLEA ZAMIA (B. Appo).

Shortly after the start STRATOSPHERE ANGEL (L. Cassidy) was checked when crowded for room between ROSEY JOAN (A. Spinks) and BOSS BURR (P. Hammersley), both of which shifted ground.

Near the 600m LITTLE MOUNTAIN, which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of CHAMPAGNE ELOPING.

Near the 500m COSMIC BELLE (S. Bogenhuber) was checked when it hung out across the heels of BLACK CHERRY BLUE (B. El-Issa).

Near the 500m FOXCAT was inconvenienced slightly when STRATOSPHERE ANGEL shifted in and away from RIPPER NIPPER (J. Byrne).

Race 2: PLAINLAND'S HARDWARE & RURAL CENTRE 3YO H’CAP – 1010M

On jumping, BRONCO (J. Byrne) shifted out and bumped REGILLUS (A. Coome).

Apprentice M. McGuren (LUSKIN SKY) stated that the gelding jumped well, however after going a short distance it appeared to resent the going and refused to stretch out. He said for this reason near the 800m he used the whip, however LUSKIN SKY never responded and tailed out throughout. He added that the horse had never raced on rain-affected going previously. A post-race veterinary examination reported the horse to have an elevated temperature and heart rate and a poor post-race recovery, indicating that the horse was suffering the onset of a virus. Trainer L. Kelly was advised to provide a veterinary certificate for LUSKIN SKY before it is permitted to start again.

Race 3: THE GRANTS GURU MAIDEN H’CAP – 1010M

Apprentice N. Nishio, the rider of PARTY SPIN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in over the concluding stages when not sufficiently clear of PRINCESS JAASI (M. Hellyer), resulting in that horse being crowded for room and having to be checked. Apprentice Nishio's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 6 July and expire at midnight on Wednesday 17 July 2013.

Right at the winning post ACTIVE STAR (S. Drake) was steadied when crowded for room between VINO VOLO (P. Hammersley), which carried that runner in whilst shifting ground, and MY BLING (L. Tarrant), which then shifted out. In the circumstances, both P. Hammersley and L. Tarrant were asked to exercise for more care.

Race 4: REMEMBERING ST. HELENS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1690M

No racing incidents.

Race 5: REMEMBERING COALSTARS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1690M

As apprentice A. Holt was ill, apprentice M. McGuren was substituted as the rider of CABALLO RAPIDO.

Shortly after the start CABALLO RAPIDO (M. McGuren) was checked when crowded for room by WARP NINE (G. Goold), which shifted out slightly.

WARP NINE, which was trapped wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to a position outside the leader near the 1200m.

Near the 1400m, after establishing the leading position, B. El-Issa (BI WINNING) then steadied the pace in front. BROADWAY LASS (J. Morris), which was following, shifted out, resulting in ROUSSOS DESTINY (R. Jamieson) being taken wider and being left three wide throughout. PURRFECTLYFEARLESS (J. Byrne), which was racing outside of ROUSSOS DESTINY, was also inconvenienced.

After the 400m MOPORENA (B. Stewart) commenced to hang out. WARP NINE, which was racing to the outside of that horse, then commenced to hang out and away from that horse, resulting in ROUSSOS DESTINY being carried wider.

Race 6: AUSTRALIAN FUTSAL F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M

BELLADONNA DELAGO (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

On jumping, DOZING STAMPEDE (P. Schmidt) was crowded when SANDPIPER BAY (R. Ride) shifted in.

Near the 800m BALGOWNIE (R. McMahon) got its head up when being steadied off the heels of SPIRIT OF AMBER (L. Rolls). BALGOWNIE then continued to overrace for a short distance.

Approaching the winning post J. Morris (TIGER BASSIE) had to restrain to avoid the heels of LADY BUTTERFLY (M. McGuren), which shifted out slightly.

Race 7: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE IPSWICH C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M

MAJOR ASCOT (J. Letherby) and STRAIGHTUP HUSTLER (S. Drake) were slow to begin. STRAIGHTUP HUSTLER thereafter failed to muster speed for a considerable distance in the early stages and became detached.

Near the 1000m VAIN AT HEART, which was steadied to avoid the heels of CARRY THE DRINKS (T. Bell), which shifted in when not properly clear, then got its head up for some distance. At about the same time, PRESIDENTIAL (S. Apthorpe) had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DROP SHOT (M. McKenzie), which shifted in at the same point. Both T. Bell and M. McKenzie were advised to exercise far more care.

Near the 900m I'M A ZULU (B. El-Issa), which was racing keenly on the heels of the leader, shifted in and brushed the rail for a short distance.

Race 8: HARDING MARTIN CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

FRAYED (M. Hellyer) was slow to begin.

DAADS ORDER (K. Yoshida) and POPPY'S REVENGE (B. El-Issa) bumped at the start.

Shortly after the start CASTING STONES (T. Bell) was checked when crowded for room between PLAYSOVA (J. Stanley) and CONTESSA BELLE (A. Merritt), which was taken out by ZIPPITY LASS (Michael Palmer).

Just prior to straightening POPPY'S REVENGE shifted out and bumped ZIPPITY LASS, which was laying out.

The veterinary surgeon reported that IMMOVABLE SITE (B. Appo) had bowed its near fore tendon. Trainer R. Smith advised that it was now the intention to retire the mare. Ms Smith was, however, advised that should these plans change and the horse continue its career, a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required.
