Mr Wilson stated that at its previous start at Murwillumbah it raced in a forward position and was caught three and four deep without cover and subsequently it compounded in the home straight. He was of the belief that the horse is better suited when it is able to settle off the speed with cover and he expected a forward showing in today's event.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of WHISKY HIGHWAY, T. Bell stated that the horse overraced in the early stages and after obtaining a position in the lead the horse travelled comfortably in the middle stages, however leaving the 500m WHISKY HIGHWAY commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the race. T. Bell was of the view that there may have been something amiss with the horse's action in front, nevertheless it proved very disappointing.
