Race 1: QUEENSLAND THERMO KING CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1666M
Due to an electrical fault, the start of this race was effected manually.

Shortly after the start ETERNAL HEART (K. Matheson) shifted out, hampering GLENAROUA (R. Ride) and BIG MAX (R. Jamieson), which began awkwardly.

GLENAROUA laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
Race 2: NATIONAL ROAD FREIGHTERS ASSOCIATION F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
A delay to the start of this race occurred due to THE WHO (M. Hellyer) having to be resaddled behind the barriers.
A further delay to the start was caused due to COOPER'S GIRL (Matthew Palmer) proving difficult to load. Trainer B. Birch was advised that COOPER'S GIRL must officially trial prior to being permitted to start again.
THE WHO overraced during the early and middle stages and then commenced to hang out rounding the home turn.
Apprentice B. Appo reported at scale that he was disappointed with the performance of SNOWTOP which he believed could be attributed to the 59kg impost and the prevailing hot conditions.
Race 3: DAIMLER TRUCKS BRISBANE F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
SNIP 'N' SNORT (R. Ride) was slow to begin and raced greenly throughout the event, placing the rider at a disadvantage.
Approaching the 800m YARRUM (S. Payne) was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of AWESOME SIGHT (A. Holt) which shifted in slightly. At the same point AWESOME SIGHT also raced in restricted room to the inside of DUSTAL (J. Byrne), which shifted in slightly.
Race 4: SCI-FLEET HINO C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
Connections advised that WAR ROBE (A. Allen), which raced back in the field from its wide barrier last start, would settle just behind the leaders from today's inside barrier if circumstances permit. The horse raced in a mid-field position.
As M. Speers failed to provide a medical clearance to enable him to ride at today's meeting, he was stood down from his engagement on ALL ALERT and replaced by J. Byrne. M. Speers was fined $100 for failing to provide a clearance.
As C. Munce failed to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement, V. Colgan was substituted as the rider of ABOVE US. C. Munce was fined $100.

ALL ALERT hung out rounding the home turn.
A. Allen reported that from the 600m WAR ROBE became awkward in its action and in his opinion did not finish the race off well. A post-race veterinary examination of WAR ROBE revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5: JOST CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350M
KID TYCOON (S. Bogenhuber) was very slow into stride.
GREENWOOD ECHO (L. Rolls) was slow to begin.
Stewards questioned apprenticed S. Payne regarding the reasons why he elected not to shift DECKED OUT to the outside of GREENWOOD ECHO shortly after straightening where there was an opportunity to do so. Apprentice Payne explained that he attempted to take a run to the inside of GREENWOOD ECHO at that stage as he believed that that runner was shifting out and he did not want to shift too wide on the track when a run forward of him presented itself. He added that when attempting to take that run, GREENWOOD ECHO shifted back in slightly, resulting in DECKED OUT being momentarily held up for a short distance. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 6: WESTERN STAR QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
FIFTEEN LOVE (R. Wiggins), which lunged forward in the barriers and hit the front gate, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
After viewing the stewards' patrol footage, J. Morris, the rider of EVOCATIVE, placed 4th by the Judge, elected to lodge an objection against SLUGSBROTHERTURBO (J. Byrne) being declared 2nd, alleging interference leaving the 200m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing available videos, stewards found that approaching the 200m EVOCATIVE had established a run to the inside of SLUGSBROTHERTURBO and that a short distance after leaving the 200m SLUGSBROTHERTURBO shifted in, resulting in EVOCATIVE having to be checked and losing ground. In the circumstances stewards were comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred, and bearing in mind the margin separating both horses at the finish, EVOCATIVE would have beaten SLUGSBROTHERTURBO and therefore upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the revised placings of 10, 11, 3 and 7. At a subsequent inquiry J. Byrne pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 200m, whilst riding SLUGSBROTHERTURBO out with the whip, it shifted in when insufficiently clear of EVOCATIVE, resulting in that runner having to be checked and losing its rightful running. J. Byrne's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 16 October and expire at midnight on Thursday 24 October 2013.
OUT OF THE BLUE (G. Goold) was very slow into stride.
EVOCATIVE (J. Morris) and KYLIE'S ROCKING (R. Goltz) were slow into stride.
SPOOKY BEACH (J. Johnson) and BARAKULA (J. Stanley) raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 800m KYLIE'S ROCKING commenced to overrace and near the 800m shifted out away from the fence to avoid heels and in doing so forced SPOOKY BEACH wider on the track.
Near the 800m ROL'N ROBI (C. Munce) had to be steadied away from the heels of SHOUTS ALL ROUND (J. Orman) which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice Orman was issued with a reprimand.
Near the 400m SHOUTS ALL ROUND shifted out, forcing both ROL'N ROBI and BARAKULA wider on the track.
ROL'N ROBI hung out rounding the home turn, inconveniencing KYLIE'S ROCKING (R. Goltz).
Race 7: BROWN & HURLEY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
Trainer R. Carter was fined $100 for failing to submit a gear change effecting a change of colours.
Trainer L. Morrison was advised that a warning would be placed on GRAND DUKE (M. Vance), which proved difficult to load.
LIKE LALA (S. Apthorpe) was very slow into stride.
MORE THAN SUPERB (C. Munce) and MR SEDUCTION (M. Gray) were slow into stride.
PERSIAN TIGER (B. Abbey) began awkwardly and shifted out at the start.
LIKE LALA overraced in the early and middle stages.
EASY TO SMILE (R. Jamieson) raced wide throughout.
Rounding the home turn MISS ALEXANDRA (M. Crawford) hung out, forcing PRINCESS DAT (S. Bogenhuber) wider on the track. MISS ALEXANDRA continued to hang out, placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event, and causing ALL HOST (V. Colgan) to be held up before shifting back to the inside in order to improve near the 100m. MISS ALEXANDRA and ALL HOST then bumped over the concluding stages.
Over the concluding stages GRAND DUKE shifted out under pressure, resulting in ALL HOST becoming awkwardly placed at that runner's heels.
Race 8: ROCKLEA TRUCK ELECTRICAL C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
As A. Holt was to be overweight, B. Appo was substituted as the rider of BULLET ONE. Apprentice Holt was fined $100.
Due to an electrical fault, the start of this race was effected manually.
CRAFTY'S LAST (R. Payne) was slow into stride.
TROPHY HUNTER (S. Apthorpe) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Shortly after the start BULLET ONE (B. Appo) shifted in and bumped CHOOSE GREATNESS (J. Byrne).
Leaving the 1000m RUSTIC PLAY (N. Evans) commenced to overrace for some distance and on a number of occasions shifted out and bumped BULLET ONE.
BULLET ONE raced wide for the majority of the event.
Apprentice R. Payne, the rider of CRAFTY'S LAST, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in over the concluding stages and near the 50m, when not sufficiently clear of BULLET ONE, it shifted in further, resulting in BULLET ONE being tightened for room, having to be checked and losing its rightful running. Apprentice Payne's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 19 October and expire at midnight on Sunday 26 October 2013.
Stewards asked apprentice B. Appo to comment on the performance of BULLET ONE. Apprentice Appo expressed his disappointment in the performance, which he felt could be explained due to the erratic racing manners of the horse, which overraced throughout the event, and in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance.
