Race 1: FUSO CANTER & FIGHTER TRUCK CLASS 1 H’CAP – 800M
At the request of trainer P. Webster, GEEJAY underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
After viewing the stewards' patrol footage, J. Byrne, rider of 2nd placegetter ROSE OF CLARE, and apprentice T. Harrison, rider of 4th placegetter COMMAND LADY, both lodged objections against GEEJAY (L. Tilley) being declared the winner, alleging interference in the straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the available videos, it was established that approaching the 100m GEEJAY commenced to shift in under pressure, resulting in ROSE OF CLARE being brushed by that runner and taken in, resulting in COMMAND LADY, which was racing to the inside of ROSE OF CLARE, having to be steadied when tightened for room. Although stewards conceded that ROSE OF CLARE was brushed by GEEJAY they were of the view that any inconvenience to ROSE OF CLARE did not have a material effect on the placings, bearing in mind the manner in which both horses closed the race off, and dismissed the objection. In relation to the objection lodged by apprentice Harrison, stewards were of the view that bearing mind the proximity of the interference to the finish and the margin separating both horses at the finish, the objection should be dismissed. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice L. Tilley was reprimanded.
ROSE OF CLARE (J. Byrne) shifted out shortly after the start, taking LA CHATEAU (N. Yamada) out on to PUFF'S GIRL (J. Orman), which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GEEJAY (L. Tilley).
COMMAND LADY was slow to begin.
GEEJAY hung out approaching the home turn, taking EMBER GLOW (A. Allen) out across the heels of BOTH EARS (I. Coombes).
Race 2: GLEESON & EYRE C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M
Trainer D. Roberts was fined $100 for failing to declare M. Cahill as the rider of QUANDIALLA by the prescribed time.
A false start was declared when QUANDIALLA (M. Cahill) lunged forward, made contact with the front gates, resulting in the gates releasing and QUANDIALLA obtaining an advantage. Soon afterwards, all other barriers released. As a result, DOUBLE DAN (B. Ainsworth), I'M CORLEONE (B. El-Issa), QUANDIALLA, GO YOU GOOD THING (J. Morris) and LITTLE DOC (T. Treichel) were restrained a short distance later. CHANCE TO DREAM (W. O'Connell), MIGHTY CHATEAU (J. Missen) and RICKSHAWTORAFFLES (J. Byrne), which had galloped a considerable distance, were withdrawn by order of stewards at 12.35 pm. After returning to the barriers, RHODRY (S. Apthorpe) and GLAMORGAN BOY (S. Drake) underwent veterinary inspections and were withdrawn on veterinary advice at 12.38 pm and returned to the enclosure. All other runners underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to take their place in the field. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on CHANCE TO DREAM, MIGHTY CHATEAU, RICKSHAWTORAFFLES, RHODRY and GLAMORGAN BOY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
28 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
17 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
34 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2
49 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #8
After being loaded, rider J. Morris advised the starter that the nearside blinker cup on GO YOU GOOD THING was not properly fitted. As a result the nearside cup was removed and the horse raced without that gear.
GO YOU GOOD THING began awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 600m DOUBLE DAN had to be steadied when tightened for room between QUANDIALLA and I'M CORLEONE, which shifted in. GO YOU GOOD THING, which was following, was inconvenienced.
Race 3: DAIMLER TRUCKS BRISBANE PARTS & SERVICE F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
As a result of the delay to the start of Race 2, the start of this race was rescheduled from 1:05 pm to 1:20 pm.

PIANOLA (J. Johnson) began awkwardly and lost ground.
CALENDAR BABE (S. Drake) shifted out at the start and made contact with LEICA BITOFCASH (J. Orman).
PIANOLA raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 4: MITSUBISHI DIAMOND TALK CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
As a result of the delay to the start of Race 2, the start of this race was rescheduled from 1:40 pm to 1:50 pm.
Near the 600m DESERT PLAYBOY (I. Coombes) had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of TUNED IN (T. Treichel).
QUEEN CAESAR (T. Bell) shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
J. Byrne reported that DALTON did not handle today's rain-affected track.
Race 5: THE NO BIG DEAL 3YO BM70 H’CAP – 1100M

MELODIAL (T. Bell) was slow to begin.
FASTA THAN LIGHT (T. Harrison) shifted out shortly after the start, taking REAL DREAMS (A. Butler) out on to BUSH CAVIAR (M. Cahill).
ELLIE BELLE (J. Byrne) was inclined to lay in in the home straight, making it difficult to ride.
Apprentice J. Orman, the rider of INTERLUDE, reported that his mount was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event.
Race 6: THE DELICIOUS EQUINE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer P. Facoory for the late scratching of WOMEN BE SHOPPING at 7:47 am.
KALANDULA (J. Byrne) was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
When questioned regarding the performance of GIANT CRUSHER, rider B. El-Issa stated that after leading throughout the event the gelding failed to respond to his riding from a point near the 600m and compounded badly in the home straight. He added that he was concerned that GIANT CRUSHER did not feel entirely comfortably in its action. A post-race veterinary examination of GIANT CRUSHER revealed no abnormalities.
A post-race veterinary examination of MIGGERU (M. Cahill) revealed that the gelding was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer P. Youngberry was advised that before MIGGERU is permitted to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG.
Race 7: THE WORKSHOP FRIDAY CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
Following the downgrade of the track to Slow 6, stewards permitted trainer E. Hayes to scratch DINA'S DRAGON at 10.46 am.
DANCING AL (D. Green) began awkwardly and lost ground.
SIR JOEL (A. Allen) overraced in the early stages.
SPIHRO (T. Harrison) raced extremely wide throughout.
ROCKLEA RAIDER (I. Coombes) had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of BAITED BREATH (S. Payne), which was held up rounding the home turn.
ANONYMISS KITTY (J. Byrne) was held up rounding the home turn.
Race 8: THE WANDERERS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1666M
ALMASEA (A. Fancourt) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground.
GO AS YOU PLEASE (J. Morris) began awkwardly, made contact with ANOTHER CHOISYN (J. Byrne), and then shifted out making contact with the hind quarters of TUBE RIDE (B. Ainsworth), resulting in TUBE RIDE becoming unbalanced.
HEY FRISCO (J. Johnson) began awkwardly and bumped TALE OF THE DRAGON (S. Fawke).
Near the 1400m HEART STEALER had to be steadied when overracing to the inside of HEY FRISCO, which shifted in. Apprentice J. Johnson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
HEART STEALER (T. Harrison) raced three wide without cover.
Near the 400m LOCHTORIO was inconvenienced when ANOTHER CHOISYN shifted out.
On entering the home straight HEART STEALER, which was weakening, shifted in and bumped TALE OF THE DRAGON, taking that runner in and tightening the running of LOCHTORIO.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HEART STEALER, which weakened from the 500m, apprentice T. Harrison stated that after travelling well in the early stages, she was forced wide passing the 1000m and as a result was obliged to race wide from that point onwards. Apprentice Harrison was of the view that HEART STEALER may not have appreciated the prevailing track conditions. Trainer D. Bougoure confirmed that HEART STEALER performs best on firm track conditions, adding that today's track, combined with having to race wide, may have explained today's disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of HEART STEALER revealed no significant findings.
