Corfield Amateur Race Club – Saturday 8th August 2009
Race 3 – Open Handicap 1200m
K. Ballard was reprimanded for the use of his whip in INDOLLARGENCE under AR137A (3)).
Race 1: CLONCURRY VET CLINIC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE Distance - 1200m.
1st - GOLD CARD 2nd - NIFTY NELLIE 3rd - SNAGGLES
4th - TASSELLED
MISS KEPPEL was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 1.00pm after the mare failed to arrive on course. Trainer Mr. K. RUSSELL was unable to be contacted and will be interviewed in relation to this matter.
The explanation tendered by trainer T. Parry for the late declaration of rider for CANNY JEWEL was accepted.
No racing incidents.
Race 2: DARLING DOWNS BLOODSTOCK CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m.
1st - PRESSURE’S ON 2nd - IN YOUR HONOUR 3rd - HARDHEADED 4th - TIPSINN
The explanation tendered by trainer R. Hermann for the late declaration of rider for BAYSIDE STAR was accepted.
COUNT OF EIGHT (T.Hill) and HALO TO HEAVEN (Apprentice D. Foster) were both slow to begin.
Shortly after the start IN YOUR HONOUR (M.Cummings) commenced to hang out and then raced wide for the remainder of the race.
Race 3: HESLIN CATTLE YARD SERVICES CLASS B HANDICAP - 1350m.
1st - STARK RAVEN 2nd - MISS MANIPULATOR 3rd -GREAT DAY OUT 4th - MEDOWIE MOTIVATOR (NZ).
D. Slack-Smith the rider of SLIP UP pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(6) for using the whip in excess of five occasions prior to the 200m. D. Slack-Smith forfeited her riding fee for this breach.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of COLUMBO, D. Ballard stated that although the gelding jumped away well, his mount failed to muster any early speed and settled further back than anticipated. He further added that despite his urgings the gelding failed to respond and in his opinion was most disappointing. Trainer N. Byrne was at a loss with todays performance and undertook to report to Stewards anything that may have affected the performance of the gelding in the days subsequent to the event. A post race veterinary examination of COLUMBO failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Race 4: REXEL CLASS 2 HANDICAP Distance - 1000m.
1st - MINER’S GHOST 2nd - PRINCE JET 3rd - COSTPLUS
4th - MISSRAINYDAYMONEY
RANGE ROVER (Apprentice S. Mossman), was slow to begin.
Race 5: MCARDLE CONCRETORS WEIGHT FOR AGE Distance - 1000m.
