LATE RIDING CHANGES
When Jockey G. Cullen was unable to fulfil his engagements due to personal reasons, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: McKinlay Shire Council QTIS Maiden Plate – 1000 metres:
1st – MIATOKO 2nd – DESMOSEDICI 3rd – LOST EVERYTHING 4th – COLOUR BLUE
MARUMUNGEE proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer S. Gabriel-Royes was advised that a warning has been placed on the barrier manners of the filly.
Trainer S. Gabriel-Royes was fined $100 under A.R.120(b) for failing to declare T. Brummell as the rider of MARUMUNGEE by the prescribed time.
COLOUR BLUE (M. Cullen) began awkwardly.
ROHEENI (F. Edwards) knuckled on jumping, became unbalanced and almost dislodged Jockey F. Edwards. Shortly after this, ROHEENI shifted in abruptly. Trainer O. Cairns was advised that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of ROHEENI.
COLOUR BLUE (M. Cullen), MARUMUNGEE (T. Brummell), CANHERUN (M. Morris) and SOME JOY (J. Felix) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Good Guys Class B Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – GENERAL CALM 2nd – ALLOVER 3rd – BASALTIC BANNE 4th – GENORELL
Shortly after the start PERFECT HOLIDAY (T. Brummell) shifted in and made contact with BASALTIC BANNE (M. Elliott) and then shifted out and made contact with LIKE CLOCKWORK (K. Ballard).
PERFECT HOLIDAY (T. Brummell), GOD SHE’S RAUNCHY (R. Sue-San) BASALTIC BANNE (M. Elliott) and JET RAFT (J. Felix) raced wide throughout.
When questioned as to the performance of LIFE BELL, which raced below market expectations, Jockey A. Merritt stated that the gelding failed to muster any early speed and when placed under pressure near the 600 metres responded to his riding only fairly. Jockey Merritt added that in his opinion LIFE BELL would be more suited in races over longer distances. Trainer T. Snelling agreed with the comments of Jockey Merritt and indicated that in future he would nominate the gelding for races over further distances. A post-race veterinary examination of LIFE BELL did not reveal any abnormality.
Race 3: Colemans Stockfeed Open Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – CRYSTAL TIGER 2nd – SAINTLY DANCER 3rd – ZIP IT OFF 4th – ANCONI
When Jockey D. Ballard was to be overweight Jockey L. Morrison was substituted as the rider of CRYSTAL TIGER. Jockey Ballard was fined $100 under A.R. 120(b).
GURU (M. Elliott) knuckled at the start and as a consequence lost ground.
ANDAMON (J. Felix) was slow to begin.
SAINTLY DANCER (F. Edwards) raced wide throughout.
Race 4: BHP Billiton Cannington Artesian Express Class 2 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – I’D DO ANYTHING 2nd – SUDDENLY SWEET 3rd – WHATZAHMATA 4th – MUSCLES
After arriving behind the barriers, at the request of Jockey T. Brummell, BAILOUT PACKAGE was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon, who cleared the gelding to take its place in the field. A post-race veterinary examination of BAILOUT PACKAGE revealed that the gelding was sore on the lateral heel of the off foreleg and had pain on flexion of the off fore fetlock. Trainer J. Wright advised stewards that BAILOUT PACKAGE will now be retired from racing.
Approaching the 400 metres Jockey D. Ballard had to stop riding and straighten NO IDENTITY which was tightened for room by BEAR IN THERE (J. Felix), which was taken in by SPUNK (M. Cummings), which had a tendency to race ungenerously at that stage and was then taken in by MUSCLES (L. Morrison), which shifted ground inwards. Jockey M. Cummings was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Jockey L. Morrison was severely reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SPUNK.
RED HUSSERATI (A. Spradau) and MONEGASQUE (M. Morris) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of MONEGASQUE (M. Morris), which raced below market expectations, revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to the lateral heel of the near forefoot and was lame. Trainer D. Finter was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to MONEGASQUE being permitted to race again.
Race 5: Rising Sun Honda Class 4 Handicap – 1200 metres
