KILCOY RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.2.3.01

WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD
GENERAL: As S. Shield was indisposed, P. Wolfgram was substituted as the rider of HIDDEN TEMPER (Race 3), D. Craven as the rider of TIME TABLE (Race 5) and B. Compton as the rider of POPULAR DECISION (Race 8).
RACE 1: SIMPLY PIES H'CAP - 1060M.
LEGAL WILL commenced to hang out rounding the home turn, and then continued to run out under pressure in the straight. Trainer J. Lyons will be advised that a warning would be placed on LEGAL WILL in relation to its racing manners.
RACE 2: PACIFIC PARADISE ROADHOUSE H'CAP - 1060M.
CATCH STEVE was slow to begin.
MAGIC RIDDLER jumped outwards at the start.
L. Deguara, rider of RHYTHMIC GREY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that she permitted her mount to shift in near the 800m. at a stage when not clear of COUNTY SPIRIT, resulting in the horse being severely checked by its rider. L. Deguara was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 3 March, and to expire at midnight, 16 March 2001.
LADY OF FIRE hung out in the middle stages.
Apprentice A. Gould was fined $50 for excessive use of the whip on a horse deemed to be out of contention.
RACE 3: STAX PLAZA CARVERY H'CAP - 1500M.
SHADEAL PRINCE shifted in at the start, making heavy contact with DRIFTWOOD DELIGHT.
Approaching the first turn, SOUTHERN DAUGHTER was tightened for room between KARMA COUNTY and TELUSTRE, which shifted out slightly. As a result, SOUTHERN DAUGHTER overreacted, shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with DRIFTWOOD DELIGHT, which in turn bumped heavily with SOUTHHAMPTON ROSE.
After improving quickly up on to the heels of the tiring RIP RAWING after passing the 300m., SOUTHERN DAUGHTER shifted out abruptly to avoid that filly's heels, resulting in SOUTHHAMPTON ROSE being checked and taken wider on the track. Whilst stewards were of the view that RIP RAWING was the primary cause of the incident by shifting ground when weakening badly, they nevertheless reminded G. Lynch of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground.
Near the 200m., BREATH shifted out to obtain clear running, resulting in TELUSTRE being inconvenienced. R. Goltz, rider of BREATH, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
RACE 4: LANDSBOROUGH HOTEL H'CAP - 1500M.
KOREELAH was slow to begin.
KOREELAH shifted on the first turn and made contact with the hind quarters of HULA'S TREASURE.
LITTLE KATERI was inclined to hang out rounding the first turn.
Making the home turn, GENERAL DERBY shifted in slightly inconveniencing IRISH BEAU.
NULLA NULLA was held up for clear running over the final 300 metres.
RACE 5: COTTON TREE MEATS H'CAP - 1200M.
The start was delayed due to the starting stalls having to be realigned with the course proper, and further when GENERAL YEATS proved difficult to load.
IVORY ROAD jumped inwards at the start, making contact with STAR MARQUIS.
Shortly after the start, BUGLET was tightened for room between TIME TABLE and TOUGH SWORD, both of which shifted ground.
RACE 6: PUB MOOLOOLABA H'CAP - 1200M.
DANZIGAH jumped outwards at the start, making contact with LIFESTYLE LAD.
COLOUR MY WORLD was slow to begin.
Leaving the 1000m., MA FOI commenced to race fiercely.
RACE 7: O'MALLEYS MOOLOOLABA H'CAP - 800M.
CROWN MAID was forced to race wide rounding the turn.
Trainer M. Palmer was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for OUR LURE by the prescribed time.
RACE 8: BELVEDERE HOTEL H'CAP - 800M.
SAHARA REGENT was hampered at the start between CIRCLE OF WHITE and AXOLOTI, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 350m., GREAT RELIC was inclined to hang in.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
