WEATHER - FINE TRACK - DEAD/GOOD AT 10.30
GENERAL: Apprentice M. McDonald was found guilty of misconduct under AR 83(a) in that he used improper language in the vicinity of the mounting enclosure after the running of race 1.
RACE 1: KILCOY SHIRE COUNCIL H'CAP - 1200M.
CAN GET EXCITED, CONCERT and KELLINA BAY were slow to begin.
RACE 2: PINE RIVERS SHIRE COUNCIL H'CAP - 1200M.
As P. Spry was indisposed, stewards approved C. Kearney as the replacement rider for HATTA'S ROSE.
HATTA'S ROSE, which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start by GARDYLOO, which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TRIPLE DAN, rider K. Pope stated that the gelding, which was having its first start today, was inclined to race greenly and never travelled comfortably at any stage throughout the event. A veterinary examination of TRIPLE DAN failed to reveal any abnormality..
RACE 3: REDCLIFFE CITY COIUNCIL H'CAP - 800M.
Apprentice L. McCoy, rider of BLUGARI, was issued with a reprimand for failing to weigh out with a girth.
RIVETTING LAD and DABARLYN DANCER, which became fractious in the barriers, broke through the gates and galloped for some distance, were declared late scratchings at 1.51 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on RIVETTING LAD and DABARLYN DANCER were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.
ZAMATRICE shifted out abruptly at the start, severely hampering NOBLE JACKPOT and HEAVENLY HAZE.
Rounding the home turn, SUKECHE shifted out and made contact with ZAIDEE, which as a result was taken out across the heels of NOBLE JACKPOT.
ACE 4: MAROOCHYDORE HOTEL H'CAP - 800M.
The starting time of this event was rescheduled to 2.28 p.m...
SIR CONDOR was slow to begin.
TASSLES had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between NEVADA JIM and HOT FEET, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 600m., ROCKET BE GOOD raced in restricted room to the inside of NEIGH HIGH, which was inclined to hang in. SIR CONDOR, which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROCKET BE GOOD.
Nearing the home turn, AGGHAST was momentarily hampered when racing in restricted room to the inside of ROCKET BE GOOD.
ROMAN COUNTY was unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn and for the major portion of the straight, and was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of D. Green, rider of JOLLY'S LUCK, when attempting to take a narrow run between JOLLY'S LUCK and SIR CONDOR inside the final 50m..
Over the concluding stages, ROCKET BE GOOD had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NEVADA JIM, which shifted in slightly.
RACE 5: CABOOLTURE SHIRE COUNCIL H'CAP - 1060M.
Trainer R. Turgeon was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for FIRE OF HEAVEN by the prescribed time.
GO TELEST was slow to begin.
OUR REIGN raced ungenerously in the early stages and approaching the 800m. shifted out abruptly when being steadied off the heels of FIRE OF HEAVEN.
RACE 6: MORETON BAY COAST & COUNTRY CUP - 1200M.
STANZA CHOICE was slow to begin.
TYKE MY SON was hampered shortly after the start between GOLDEN RUN and ZUP, which shifted out.
KNIGHTLY DISPLAY shifted out rounding the home turn, forcing ZUP and GOLDEN RUN wider on the track.
RACE 7: PUB MOOLOOLABA H'CAP - 1500M.
As A. Morrison was to be overweight, C. Eaton was substituted as the rider of SAHARA BRAVE. A. Morrison was fined the sum of $200.
The start was delayed when SAHARA BRAVE and SECRET HEART broke through the barriers. After being reloaded, SAHARA BRAVE again broke through the gates. Both horses were examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
JENIBRIA shifted out at the start and made contact with CERRUTI.
VERSAILLES made the turn out of the straight awkwardly.
SECRET HEART was momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.
RACE 8: NAMBOUR'S COMMERCIAL HOTEL H'CAP - 1500M.
MR. ALERT was a late scratching at 7.50 a.m. on veterinary advice.
Approaching the home turn, MUSICAL SPIN shifted out around the heels of TRILOBITE to obtain clear running, and in doing so made contact with DICEY LADY, which was taken out, forcing HI DAD wider on the track. Apprentice L. Morrison, rider of MUSICAL SPIN, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
