KILCOY RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.31.5.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr R. Sanders (Chairman), Mr J. Hackett, Mr G. Ireland, Mr W. Birch, Mr C. Ferguson (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD

GENERAL: As apprentice M. McDonald was indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved: Race 2. LEGAL EYES - A. Erhart (No suitable apprentice available). Race 3. FURIOUSITY - R. Hurley. Race 4. THE DESPERADO KID - N. Evans. Race 5. RIVETTING LAD - M. Rice. Race 7. MOOKATAN - T. Ikenushi. Race 8. PRINCE OF ANGELS - M. Rice.

M. Yoshinaga was also indisposed, and replaced by A. Pattillo on ANIMATE in race 7.


RACE 1:WHIPPEN WALKER H'CAP - 1060M.

LOCHRAE PRNCESS jumped awkwardly.

FARCICAL jumped outwards at the start, hampering BYAMBEE.

Shortly after the start, KING'S OPERA had to be steadied between EMPEROR'S HOPE and CHIEFODEON, both of which shifted ground.

FARCICAL was inclined to overrace at the heels of SPORT STAR in the middle stages.

Rounding the home turn, EMPEROR'S HOPE was hampered when tightened for room by CARAT OF GOLD, which attempted to take a run in restricted room to the inside of SPORT STAR, which shifted in slightly. Both A. Erhart, rider of CARAT OF GOLD, and S. Thurlow, rider of SPORT STAR, were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.


RACE 2: WHIPPEN WALKER H'CAP - 1060M.

BASIL'S BLUE and TEAKER'S BLUE STAR made contact on jumping away.

FLYING BOOGIE was slow to begin.

FLYING TINKY jumped awkwardly, then shifted in abruptly and had to be checked to avoid making contact with the running rail. FLYING TINKY, which tailed off, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon, with no abnormalities reported. Trainer B. Johnson was advised that a warning was being placed on FLYING TINKY.

POWER PACIFIC shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of SHEER BLISS over the concluding stages.


RACE 3: NORMAN WALKER H'CAP - 1500M.

PETIT D'OR and SUNMOMI was hampered on jumping away between FURIOUSITY and IMAGO, which jumped away awkwardly.

ERBOURNE made the first turn awkwardly.

Approaching the home turn, PETIT D'OR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring BLIND PATIENCE.

FLEETWITH was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 4: J.D. WALKER H'CAP - 1500M.

SAHARA BRAVE jumped outwards shortly after the start, hampering MOTABRO.

Near the 700m., RANCHO'S LOVE shifted out and made contact with MOTABRO.

At the 600m., STEEL STARS had to be steadied off the heels of RANCHO'S LOVE, which was weakening.


RACE 5: THE GOVERNOR WALKER H'CAP - 800M.

Trainer R. Lipp was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for VIA DANTE by the prescribed time.

RIVER OF BELLS blundered on jumping away.

STEELY DAWN sprawled on jumping away, losing considerable ground.

MALORY and KRUGER'S GIFT were both slow to begin.

Over the concluding stages, JUST MACCA raced in restricted room between STEELY DAWN and RIVETTING LAD.


RACE 6: PAT WALKER H'CAP - 800M.

Trainer Mr P. Moncrieff was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for LITTLE DOT by the prescribed time.

Trainer A. Robinson was also fined $50 for failing to declare riders for PAROLE TIME and TOUGH SWORD (Race 7) by the required time.

MY ISABELLE jumped inwards at the start, resulting in LITTLE DOT having to be checked.

RUN ON LOCHIE veered outwards on jumping away, hampering JACK'S ROSE and PACIFIC MELODY.

After rounding the home turn, GRAND CHEVAL was unable to improve when held up for clear running.

Near the 300m., INTERIOR TRIM had to be checked when tightened for room between HARRIO, which hung out, and MY ISABELLE, which was inclined to lay in despite the efforts of its rider.

HARRIO continued to hang out and made contact with MY ISABELLE at the entrance to the straight.

MY ISABELLE was also inclined to lay in in the straight.

RACE 7: WALKER MEMORIAL H'CAP - 1200M.

GET GOING was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, MOOKATAN shifted out abruptly, taking CLOSE TO DANGER out on to ANIMATE, which made contact with the hind quarters of HAIL ROCKET and had to be checked.

Approaching the 800m., SONIC SWITCH shifted in and made heavy contact with CATAINER.

After leaving the 700m., CLOSE TO DANGER shifted out, taking COUNT YOUR DREAMS wider on the track.

Near the 300m., GET GOING clipped the heels of CATAINER, which weakened badly. GET GOING, blundered badly, almost dislodging its rider, A. Kennedy. In this incident, A. Kennedy lost the use of his right iron for some distance.

T. Ikenushi, rider of the 5th placegetter, MOOKATAN, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the finish line.


RACE 8: HAROLD WALKER H'CAP - 1200M.

FORMAL AFFAIR was slow to begin.

IMPORTED PRINCE shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with TAMESA.

Passing the 900m., SIR ENDA was inclined to hang out, which forced HARVEY ROAD and MILLVALE EXPRESS to race wider on the track. HARVEY ROAD and MILLVALE EXPRESS raced wide for some distance following this incident.

NORTHER CENT raced wide in the middle stages.

For some distance after entering the straight, RAVEN BEAUTY was held up for clear running and unable to improve.

Trainer P. Dawson was advised that SIR ENDA, which hung out throughout the event, would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.


RACE 9: SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1060M.

Rounding the home turn, LENNY had to be steadied off the heels of SPANISH ARRAY, which weakened.

KIITOS SBAZEBA MOI was forced to race wide throughout.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
