Race 1: BP KILCOY DRIVEWAY/RAHEEN STUD CLASS 3 PLATE 1060M

HARKAWAY GIRL (J. Orman) was slow to begin.

BEAUTRIX (A. Van Der Sanden) hung out approaching the 800m.

KARZING (L. Tilley) lost ground near the 600m when reluctant to race to the inside of WRITTENINTHERAIN (G. Geran).

Leaving the 500m HARKAWAY GIRL had to be steadied to avoid the heels KARZING which shifted out. L. Tilley, the rider of KARZING was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Race 2: BECHLY'S TRANSPORT/TOP ECHELON MAIDEN PLATE 800M

TALON (A. Van Der Sanden) blundered badly at the start and lost ground.

LONG LIVE LOVE (B. Appo) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with TOTAL DESTRUCTION (T. Brooker) which also began awkwardly and as result lost ground.

RIP 'N' TWIST (L. Tilley) had to be eased and shift in near the 400m when tightened for room by LONG LIVE LOVE. B. Appo, the rider of LONG LIVE LOVE was reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

LONG LIVE LOVE hung out rounding the home turn proving difficult to ride. Trainer M. Lakey was advised a warning would be placed on the mares racing manners.

HEY JESS (A. Merritt) hung out near the 300m.

TALON raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 3: THE STANLEY HOTEL/CLEAR MOUNTAIN FAIRVIEW STUD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 800M

ACTIVE STAR which arrived at the start with blood in its mouth was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

EMERTON (T. Williams) began very awkwardly making contact with its inside barrier gate and lost ground.

COLONEL SODHI (J. Missen) was slow to begin.

NIGHT MOVES (A. Van Der Sanden) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with ACTIVE STAR (G. Geran).

EMERTON raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 4: EXCHANGE HOTEL KILCOY/SLEEPY HOLLOW FARM CLASS B H'CAP 1500M

C. Spry, the rider of JUST WATCHER, which was weighted on the minimum weight was permitted to ride that mare a half kilogram over its declared weight.

FALKOR (D. McIntosh) began awkwardly and shifted in onto JUST WATCHER (C. Spry) which in turn shifted in making contact with COLONY (J. Grob) which was forced in onto the hind quarters of PORTLAND PUZZLE (M. McKenzie) which became unbalanced.

KAZAN (J. Missen) failed to negotiate the turn out of the straight near the 1200m and shifted very wide on track losing considerable ground. Stable representative G. Green was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners.

AFLEET ASSASSIN (J. Hoopert) and COLONY (J. Grob) raced wide for majority of the race.


J. Hoopert, the rider of AFLEET ASSASSIN which compounded leaving the 400m reported to stewards that in his opinion the gelding did not run the trip out. A post race veterinary examination of AFLEET ASSASSIN revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: KPC/WATTLEBRAE STUD BENCHMARK 70 1200M

THE BLIZZARD (T. Williams) and JHELUM (C. Spry) were slow to begin.


EXPRESSWAY (A. Van Der Sanden) shifted out near the 450m making contact with EXTREME MOVER (W. Connell) and again near the 300m forcing that runner wider on the track when looking to improve. Ms Van Der. Sanden was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Stewards questioned T. Williams in the presence of her master, M. Mair, regarding her tactics adopted on THE BLIZZARD particularly from the point leaving the 1000m whereby forcing JHELUM wider on the track and electing to ride forward and wide for the remainder of the race. Ms Williams stated that as she had ridden this horse in a similar manner previously she adopted the same tactics today. Stewards reprimanded Ms Williams and advised her that her ride today fell short of the standard expected and as such this ride would be referred to the Riders Review Panel for further tuition.


Race 6: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL/TOP ECHELON MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

KEOAKEE (W. O'Connell) reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.

AMITY BAY (Q. Krogh) was slow to begin.

RIPPER NIPPER (T. Brookner) and AMITY BAY raced wide for the majority of the race.

M. Mair, trainer of LAKELANDS, reported to stewards that after pulling up short in its action he would now recommend to the connections that the mare be retired from racing.
