Race 1: STANLEY HOTEL KILCOY MAIDEN H’CAP - 800m

Stewards permitted a change of gear for OH GOLLY (J. Missen) to allow the gelding to race in bandages instead of boots. Trainer N. King was reprimanded for the late notification of gear change.

Due to a malfunction with the jockeys’ scales, the start of this race was rescheduled to 1:22 pm.

OH GOLLY was slow into stride.

Leaving the 400m CHANCES PLAIN (Z. Scullie) commenced to hang out until entering the home straight.

Apprentice G. Goold reported that LIKENESS laid out throughout the event.

Following this event apprentice G. Goold was examined by the ambulance officers and stood down from his remaining engagements due to injury. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 2: BEECHLYS TRANSPORT CLASS 1 H’CAP - 800m

Because of amended starting time of Race 1, the start of this race was rescheduled to 1:47 pm.

Trainer M. Lakey was fined $100 for presenting LONG LIVE LOVE (B. Appo) to race with incorrect gear.

RIP ‘N’ TWIST (L. Tilley), which was fractious in the barriers, broke through and galloped for a considerable distance, was declared a late scratching at 1:50 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer B. Hudson was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the horse’s next start. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on RIP ‘N’ TWIST be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

3 cents in the dollar for the Win #6
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #6
8 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #4
6 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2

LONG LIVE LOVE, which was drawn in the adjoining barrier to RIP ‘N’ TWIST, was removed, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

DRAGON STREET (K. Yoshida) and WENTING (C. Kearney) were both slow into stride.

Shortly after the start WENTING had to be steadied from the heels of BELHARI BOY (A. Allen), which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the home turn SHEARER’S MAGIC (J. Missen) raced wide.

Near the 50m MISS TYPIN (N. Evans) had to be steadied from the heels of LONG LIVE LOVE, which shifted out slightly.

Race 3: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1060m

TREVLYN’S COL was a late scratching at 2:09 pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on TREVLYN’S COL be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the Win #4
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4
1 cent in the dollar for 2nd place #10
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #3

LITTLE HORN (R. Payne) was slow into stride.

Approximately 100 metres after the start ANGIE’S DIARY (Michael Palmer) and MADAME BOOKWORM (P. Schmidt) came together.

BOBBY BE GOOD (M. Gray) and ANGIE’S DIARY raced wide.

GIVE ‘EM CURRY (R. Vigar) was held up for clear running from the 400m until a point near the 100m.

Trainer B. Tattam was advised that a warning would be placed on LITTLE HORN for being uncompetitive. Mr Tattam advised stewards that he would send the horse for a spell.

Race 4: KPC CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1060m

BELGRANDO (M. Hellyer) and VALS BOY (P. Schmidt) were both slow into stride.

ELITE ATEATES (A. Allen) and SHOCTONIC (S. Drake) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 600m GIRLS WORLD (G. Killen), when being steadied, hung out across the heels of BRONCO (J. Johnson) and had to be steadied.

BELGRANDO raced wide from the 500m.

Near the 400m GIRLS WORLD commenced to race greenly and shifted in. At the same time, VALS BOY shifted out, resulting in MR BUMBLE (J. Hoopert) being placed in restricted room and having to be steadied momentarily.


Race 5: EXCHANGE HOTEL KILCOY MAIDEN H’CAP - 1200m

INGENOUS (D. Missen), which dislodged its rider behind the barriers and then crashed through the inside running rail, was declared a late scratching at 3:30 pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on INGENOUS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

33 cents in the dollar for the Win #4
27 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4
27 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #7
25 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #8

As a result of the damage to the inside running rail, stewards permitted all runners to return to the enclosure while satisfactory repairs were carried out to the damaged section, resulting in this race being run at 3:48 pm.

I AM ROGUE (M. McKenzie) jumped out at the start and made contact with CELTIC DRAGON (K. Yoshida). As a consequence, CELTIC DRAGON lost ground.

MASTER VINNIE (G. Geran) raced wide in the middle stages.

Leaving the 150m DELUSIVE (C. Spry) was held up for clear running and went to the line not fully tested by its rider.

Leaving the 150m NAMBAWAN (R. Goltz) wanted to lay in on several occasions, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten.

Following this event D. Missen was examined by the ambulance officers and stood down from his remaining engagement due to injury. A riding replacement was made in Race 7 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.


Race 6: BP KILCOY DRIVEWAY CLASS 2 H’CAP - 1200m

Apprentice R. Ride (GINGER EXPRESS) was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in near the 1000m, tightening the running of BOOT SHAKER (K. Yoshida), which had to be steadied.

Near the 800m MAN OF MERIT (A. Allen) had to be steadied momentarily when tightened for room between BOOT SHAKER (K. Yoshida) and FEELIN’ FIESTY (M. Gray), which shifted in slightly.

Apprentice T. Brooker was dislodged from STRAIGHT SHOOTER on pulling up and took a seemingly harmless fall.

Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BM 60 H’CAP - 1500m

PORT RAIDER (S. Fawke), which made contact with the fence whilst parading, was inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to leaving the enclosure, and again after it arrived at the barriers, and cleared to start.

EXCEPTION (Michael Palmer) was slow into stride and lost considerable ground, and approaching the turn out of the straight on the first occasion commenced to hang out. Trainer P. Hulbert was advised that EXCEPTION must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. Mr Hulbert advised stewards that it will be his recommendation to connections that the mare be retired from racing.

ETRAIN (K. Wharton) and COTORRA (P. Schmidt) raced wide throughout.
